@@michaelwilliams1189 I agree. Been waiting forever for this game and played it for a few hours yesterday. Floaty and choppy. Looks a lot better with mods but I'm not buying/building a cpu for games. And the music sucks in this game. Been playing Session since it came out for xbox and that is honestly a lot funner. And session isn't a "Complete game" like Skater xl...
Yeah I have been going for the self taught route too. But my noseslides just got so much cleaner after watching this. I was trying to do them completely different by tweaking the sticks.
I’ve played beta for a long time, so i know everything, but still, I thank you in the name of all beginners! Also, I have a little tip for varials, do the kickflip slightly before the shuv, im telling you it’s way easier than scooping very little Edit: I just noticed that you told my tip 🤭 😅
remember that you can wind up with a low pop as well. Do the input for a high pop and press the trigger so the character winds up, then, let go of the stick that makes you high pop and then release the pop stick, in this way his/her arms are still winded up and the game counts the pop as a low one.
After one full day of practice I finally got it and now can skate freely and have lots of fun. I love trying a hard trick over and over until you get it, feels like real life skating
Your English is great man, you should never apologize for that. Amazing video, very helpful to me as a newcomer to the game. I feel like my biggest weakness so far is just trying to play the game like Tony Hawk or something, just wiggling sticks like crazy every time I ollie or hit a jump. Going through the challenges in the game really helped me slow down and learn to play. Now I'm hitting lines and actually filming some decent content in between falls, lol.
I recently discover an easier way to do the varial/hard flips and varial/inward heel flips without accidentally making them 360. Just hold the back foot stick slightly off center towards the direction of the desired rotation instead of straight down and then scoop it. Makes for a much more consistent and steezy 180 flip.
I've found the challenges on each map to be super helpful tutorials. If you pay close attention to the ghost skater's controller, which plays on repeat, you can pick up on things quickly. However, nightspeeds' varial flip tip has been a god send!
This is perfect and I plan on practicing my grinds later tonight. Got the game yesterday and thoroughly enjoy it and find the control intriguing as all hell. But I will admit coming off of 10 plus years of playing the Skate games it has been a little daunting. Thank you sir for this vid!

My biggest issue with Skater XL is the (Switch Stance) controls, it should be left stick down to ollie but for some dumb reason they chose push up on the the stick!?? like wtf lol does any from this easyday studios skateboard in real life?
Exactly. This is literally my only complaint. I hate that they have Nollie controls for switch stance. I hope they add a controller option for the analog sticks to swap.
Huge oversight in my opinion. Being able to push with left and is needed also. Like d-pad to push also. Symmetrical controls are necessary for this game to have sim feel.
I'm finding the ollie a bit weird both normal and high ollie sometimes when I hold down it'll crouch until I let go but most the time it pre ollies while I'm still holding the stick/s down
Thank you for the explanation of the big flip. Was driving me nuts that I kept doing"bigger flips". Was wondering if it was the same mechanics as Skate where we had to do a varial in stead of a tre or laser.
Don’t beat yourself up bro your English is great.. I slur my words all the time that’s all that was bro great videos been watching since before I pre ordered it a month ago thank you for your time and effort to making these videos
I'm struggling with flip speed in general. Doesn't really feel like I have control over it, sometimes my kickflips are super fast and other times they are super slow and ugly, even though I always flick as hard as I can. I don't get it... Same for Treflips for example. They are very slow most of the time, I can't really treflip into grinds or manuals...
Yes!! It's bullshit I've experimented with it too and had the same results as you, completely unpredictable. This game really kinda sucks and I hate to admit it bc I was looking forward to this game!!! 😣
so ima a goofy skater in the game so i use my left analog stock to pop and with the right lets say if u wanma go for a slow kick flip u have to flick it slow for a fast one u have to flick it fast i got a clean ass slow tre flip down a set of stairs its about how u flick the analog sticks
One thing you didn't mention that i was trying to figure out from your video and found the answer by watching your controls is how to add pre body twist to body spin. Only done by doing a full high ollie and then holding RT or LT before ollie. I didn't find any explanation, just realized it could be done when doing a challenge line.
Having a really hard time rotating out of most sideways slides/grinds, is reverting on flat the only option to take something like a crook to fakie on a lower obstacle? It's tough
This game is lit, just so used to how skate controls were, i find myself still trying to trick with the right analog and turn/rotate with left, trying to grab the board with LT RT lmao it does feel a lot more satisfying landing anything in this game tbh
After finally playing the game I have a greater appreciation for the skills of Night speeds(not that I didn't before). Ive been watching for awhile now. Catching back heels with your back foot as you rotate is a thing of beauty. All forms of Blunt slides and feebles are kicking my ass but ill get them. Skate and Create 👊❤
So i’ve been playing Session since the preview came out on Xbox and now playing Skater XL it’s interesting how different they feel. The way Session handles switch tricks is infinitely better than XL and i think flip inputs are better on Session while some of the xl tricks look a bit better (besides tre flips). I need to play more and get used to it but to be honest i think Session feels better which i didn’t expect.
I personally prefer Session as well, but there are a few things I think SkaterXL does better. At least for now. I've played the hell out of both though and will continue to do so. Like you said, it's interesting how different they feel.
Session has better physics, people always say skater xl physics are better but these people are not paying close enough attention. Just look at how grabs work in skater xl, sucking the board up towards the body. Same with catching tricks. It's not at all accurate and feels weird. It's fine, it's still a fun game, but I think session should be much better when it's done.
Bruh So you like canned robotic shit animations? Thats hella disappointing. In skater XL you can make any trick look good. In session you can't. You're prolly so shit at the game and thinks it sucks when you played session for a while getting used to those shit animations. You're not used to physics which is better. So get good at Skater XL and understand the physics then talk bad.
Just started playing today but i figured out a trick for varials don‘t hold your crouch stick straight down but in the pocket bottom left or right than just release it as u would for an ollie than just flick your heelflip/kickflip and there you go :)
This game is amazing. Seriously from a die hard skate fan this is a serious competition... much potential but there is a couple deal breakers. Obviously more characters/maps/customization(I’m sure that’s in the works) but it 100% MUST have a point counter for the tricks and a distance counter for doing a manual ! At least a option in the settings to turn it on.
I love how hard this game is. I was hoping for a challenge and i got one first day and can already do all grinds except for bs tailslide and blunts. I also got some tricks that I can do well and some that i just struggle with just like in Real Life. Btw I just realised that you are insane at that game 🔥🔥
What I learned is right after the flick..go neutral on the controls for a milli second then do revert (any way) Should do the perfect hardflip or inward...or push both sticks to same side(same way) to do a perfect varial...the longer you hold you will tre(nice looking tre using this method) so you have to be quick...like almost late flip
Thanks for going over the varials! I was also having issues with the board doing tre flips all the time. Would be cool if they could implement the same shuv controls into sktter XL as in session. Giving way more control over how much you scoop while flipping
i have trouble because sometimes you pull the sticks down to crouch and you haven't let it go but it ollies. Notice if you crouch down for your ollie and move the stick even just a hair it will just ollie even though your still holding it down.
Thanks man..i wasn’t getting the hold of grinds at all..will practise them now..but it would be great if you made a video about approaching rails and spots of different heights to grind
Would it be possible for you to do a short tutorial on how to use the reply/video mode in the game since there is no tutorial for it? Would be awesome!
Soo I’m playing on Ps4, when I crouch to Ollie, I feel like half of the time the character won’t stay crouched but rather Ollie like instantly? I’m I doing something wrong or is there other setting I’m missing? Is the editing your “stats” a mod you have that PS4 doesn’t?
What about transition tricks. Could you show backside flip tailslide to quarter pipe etc? Also with bluntslide and so on. And is there a way to leave the coping without an ollie, just press down? Cheers!
How do I pinch front feebs and back crooks? Is it a certain way to lean or something? Seems like sometimes I lock on proper and other times is on top of the trucks lookin all ugly
can someone tell me how i control in which direction i pop out of grinds? i mean i can press r3 or l3 to slide out front or backside, but how to i control how i pop from the rail? he alwas pop out in the direction from which i came at the grind. like, how to i pop over the grind?
So I know how to varial flip and do bigger spins and tre flips my only issue is I keep using the left analog to turn when I can use the back triggers for it...lmao I love this game and I enjoy setting up impossible tricks but doing actual clean lines...
Multiplayer games of skate and SLS type competitions would be so fun. Doing runs and then best trick on SLS parks against others. I personally love that this game has such a learning curve. Skate tricks that are super tough in real life are super tough in this game, so people are excited to see them go down clean in-game. Those same tricks are super easy in a game like EA SKATE so competition skating against each other isn't as interesting.
please answer! how do you not pop out of your tricks when doing vert stalls like axle stalls or rock to fakie. the ollie ruins the immersion but ive seen people do it without popping
Yeah but backside smiths its much more realistic with your back truck in the inside part of the ledge. For that you want to move also your back foot not only your front like a nose manny as you said. Good as you do to turn a bit with rb/lb so you make it smoother. But this game its how it is, we all have our own style, like in real life, its amazing. Thanks a lot for your videos and keep on posting skater xl stuff please !!
Bought it yesterday and ended up playing it all day lol I love it can’t wait to see what more they add. And yeah the game is a little glitchy on PS4 but it’s still fun to play besides im sure it’ll get a patch.
Thanks for the video, I actually didn't know how to do high ollie Will there be any Mullen's freestyle tricks added such as dark slides, caspers and all that with primo stance?
There is a way to set the controls just like the Tony Hawk games? I bougth sessions just to have fun, but is kinda a simulator and I have no time to lear all that stuff again.
I hope we can customize the controls later on cause i skate goofy but & i wanna be able to pop with the right stick & not the left I’d skate regular stance but i wanna be able to feel like my real life stance

Thanks, I really wanted to wind up for low pop tricks
KINGxTERRY in simple terms do what you normally do just let go of your front foot stick slightly earlier
Yessir! Been doing that when I try flat tricks at low speeds and I love the way the skater just winds up going over objets when going slow.

What about transition tricks. Could you show backside flip tailslide to quarter pipe etc? Also with bluntslide and so on. And is there a way to leave the coping without an ollie, just press down? Cheers!
How do you do a forward flip??? And how do you do for a feeble

Bought this game yesterday. Controls are difficult (coming from THPS), but it’s still enjoyable.
please answer! how do you not pop out of your tricks when doing vert stalls like axle stalls or rock to fakie. the ollie ruins the immersion but ive seen people do it without popping
Could we get a video on how to use the replay editor
An y chance that there is a legacy control option like in session?
I can not do systematicaly manual, how do you do it? I can make manual very randomly and only on a flat without ollie.please help
Can the trucks be tightened up so they don't flap around?
How do i change the camera angle back from low to high on xbox??
Yeah but backside smiths its much more realistic with your back truck in the inside part of the ledge. For that you want to move also your back foot not only your front like a nose manny as you said. Good as you do to turn a bit with rb/lb so you make it smoother. But this game its how it is, we all have our own style, like in real life, its amazing. Thanks a lot for your videos and keep on posting skater xl stuff please !!
Hi jake i really don't understand how to make manuals. Can you do a tutorial?
Still can’t figure out Howard to do a clean ss/bs/ts!
i love how you can tweak everything, but i have such a problem with doing varial flips instead of tre flips.
Can you do this type of video but with the replay editor please
It's already made :) Should be coming in a few days
Nightspeeds thank you 🙏🏼
Bought it yesterday and ended up playing it all day lol I love it can’t wait to see what more they add. And yeah the game is a little glitchy on PS4 but it’s still fun to play besides im sure it’ll get a patch.
Your English is better than most Americans honestly lol ...much love and positive vibes
Thanks for the video, I actually didn't know how to do high ollie
Will there be any Mullen's freestyle tricks added such as dark slides, caspers and all that with primo stance?
There is a way to set the controls just like the Tony Hawk games? I bougth sessions just to have fun, but is kinda a simulator and I have no time to lear all that stuff again.
What button do you use to catch a flip on individual feet?
I hope we can customize the controls later on cause i skate goofy but & i wanna be able to pop with the right stick & not the left I’d skate regular stance but i wanna be able to feel like my real life stance
Thanks for this Video G!! Helps alot on the 180 scoop tricks
