I wish everyone would temper expectations a bit more. Everyone compares it to POE which has an additional 10 years of development under it belt; or Diablo which is (despite the controversy) from a AAA major studio. I personally think Last Epoch is doing amazing and I cannot wait to see how it grows.

Love LE but I feel D4 actually does endgame better now because there's a good sense of progression in terms of activities. You start with levelling and then do the capstone dungeons, then a lot of helltides, then Nightmare dungeons to level glyphs, then push Pots to upgrade your gear, and then you can farm Torment bosses. In LE you spend a few hours in campaign and then do monoliths...and then you do empowered monoliths, which are the same but harder. Yes there are new bosses but you're still just doing monoliths. They need to add a better sense of progression with different activities.
But you have no Progression in D4, i like the S4 alot better but you basically never change your skill from lvl 25 onwards....the paragorn Board is fake content. In LE the skill you Use can be changed in all directions, both games have pros and cons, D4 is is the no depth endgame Grind from the Start, which people like, but i dont want LE to adapt to this.
i give ehg a pass for a lot of things, even though its already pretty great. they started as a small group of guys that had no professional experience in video games design. given that, what they have accomplished is very impressive and its exciting to think where last epoch will go.

The mechanic make 0 sense since you have proven you can handle a certain corr. On my 2 characters since I got lucky while gearing up to level 80, I literally didn't even get pressured until 20 hours deep into end game after grinding corruption for forever. Locking increased difficulty and rewards behind the most tedious progression mechanic that requires HOURS for a slightly substantial increase in difficulty fucking blows.
To me it's also a damper on the fun cause the endgame system isn't one I look forward to. At least in PoE (which I don't play anymore) maps were an amazing system so it was worth the annoying campaign to get to the good stuff. In LE the first campaign run of a cycle is a slog, and the end game is a slog, so it's kind of like... why am I doing this?
As my 1st season i can say it worth the money. Built my own stuff and made it to 99. Could use some interface enhances, stability mainly in arenas for me. S5 from diablo is gonna be a no show for me, looks squeezed and big fat filler before xpac.
I will say one of the strength's of LE is how transparent the systems are, which makes it easy to build your own characters. I've never felt the need to use a guide for this game.

Even with LE updates being great, and D4 improving every patch, I still find myself wanting for PoE2. I'm not a big PoE one player, but I think 2 looks absolutely incredible, and with ten years of season ideas to build from, I expect their endgame and seasons to be really stellar from the start. All the classes look incredible, the pace of combat looks perfect, and visually it's nuts. Very excited to see what Vessel brings to D4 and what LE keeps doing, but PoE2 has more of my attention even still. LE gearing still my fave of the bunch though.
I have a problem with the endgame being very boring. This cycle didn't fix it for me. Also the engine is still the worst ARPG engine out there today which makes it feel clunky and low-effort. The controller support is still really bad compared to other ARPGS. Cmon guys if Grim Dawn can make so many improvements with a tiny team, so can EHG. I keep waiting for the big change that will pull me back in to the game, haven't found it yet.
The optimization is really quite bad - game dips in some monos to like 40fps for me and I can run modern AAA games that look far better without ever dipping below 144hz.
I agree with the engine. Using an RTX 4070 Super and playing with friends, I'm experiencing FPS drops, while in D4 I can play on ULTRA with RTX ON without any stuttering. Additionally, the movements in LE are very clunky, and echoes feel boring after a couple of hours, like they are empty and soulless
@@zodyackil Everything in LE is such a great concept with such a poor execution. I have the same issues with FPS. My gpu is way worse radeon 6800xt for Linux reasons, but I get 60 fps 1440p Ultra in D4, 60 FPS @4k in POE, but I can't even get 60 fps stable at 1080p in LE. LE is the only one with it's own native Linux version too, like WTF. I even tried forcing the Windows version in Steam and it still slogged.with Proton. It's the only game I own that runs shitty on my PC. Linux runs everything else like a dream. The thing is. I tried it on my wife's Windows 11 PC... Sucked even WORSE! LOL
I've played Grim Dawn and it's great, but in all fairness, they're basically running with Warcraft 3 graphics so that has to make it much easier to develop...
Monos with their Echoes as endgame grind need a complete overhaul, if they want to mimic PoE maps... they need more variations in terms of objectives, every Echoe should have its own Mini Boss spawning after the objective is done, giving you more loot, and seasonal / cycle specific content needs to pop up in every Echoe. Also, give us the option to put Affix / Suffix on Echoes, customizing them and changing rewards and challenges!
I've been loving the patch. Although apparently my EQ build was doing bugged damage without me knowing so I spent the last few days minmaxing the build and as soon as I unlock abberoth I lost 70% of my damage. Build is still ok but I went from doing like 250k dps to around 75k dps. Hopefully abberoth still feels good to fight at that level but it definitely took some wind out of my sails, especially when other builds are doing way more damage already.
The best ARPG I've ever played. PoE1 is a huge NO for me now😅 Hope poe2 will be something like LE. I would never buy cosmetis, but EHG deserved my money, so every cycle - biggest supporter pack for me😅
Playing this game makes me appreciate the POE economy so much more it is insane. Past a certain point u basically never pick up anything anymore, gold is irrelevant due to dupe, really good exalted items are rare af, high lp items are rare af and also only desireable if the rolls on the item are good which makes them basically impossible to get even in trade. Realizing how boring this makes mapping i really hope GGG rolls back on having gold as currency instead of the orbs system.
The main negative of LE that I don't like is that the combat isn't as fluid as Diablo. There are fewer options for survivability against DoTs but there are a lot of instant cast non-telegraphed DoT enemy attacks. In Diablo 4, it feels like you can push harder content than you're geared for by simply try harding. This isn't the case in LE.
D4 is so much more fun for me. I played the campaign for a bit in LE, and I stopped playing because it was too boring. I played previously to 600 corruption in LE on the previous cycle but couldn’t find myself to play this game again
I got bored and quit just before i got to 100 monolith. Just way to grindy and i had some monolith where i didnt see the league content at all. Considering you have to find it additionally 2 times to get the item you want, that really sucks.
It takes to long to reach level 100 and level up your faction to the maximum. I already killed an Aberroth at level 97, and CoF is only level 10/12. What's the point of delaying leveling so much? After killing Aberroth, there is nothing to do in the game.
@@HTeeB playing multiple characters is actually delaying your faction progress immensely. Last cycle it was 8/10 at 100, not 10/12.. still kinda bad. You need 2x 100lvl to get to max lvl
Monos should only be 25% of the gameplay loop when in end game they just aren’t fun enough to be the primary loop. It’s not that they are terrible but when it’s all you do it feels like it.
love the game, don't like monos as end game. At least there are ways to grind the gear for my build. need to wait for 2.0 for more end game content like any budding ARPG.
there are 2 things that put me off last epoch: 1. How characters interact with the world, the items look weird, the spell casting and attacks with weapons look weird 2. Items stats, I have to look at the top of whatever the stats are then at the bottom of an item, then do the same to compare against the item I want to change with, weapon stats are weird too, looking into how much damage a weapon does is really awkward. Dont know if they cant fix this, I play for a bit and then just give up and play something else
I would love to see a full campaign skip after 1st story clear. Poe sucks without a campaign skip, i love playing multiple builds. LE trys with their convoluted skip.....just allow full skip.
I'm really mad about the gold dupe thing. they really need to do more to fix that, like remove gold from trading or let people switch to ssf keeping the faction. items are like in the millions now. They also should have been in contact with GGG and try to release their season nto at the same time. overall though the game is better and I have no need to play D4 anymore
Can anyone tell me why I can't deposit/interact with egg when I find a nemesis? I use controller. I can click on "replace" but when I try to add a non Weavers Will / no LP unique item I cannot. I can select a unique from either my inventory or stash and hover it over the box to deposit but it will not go in. This happens every time, every instance. What am I doing wrong?
They just dont test stuff on controller for whatever reason. Day 1, the evade button for the big new dodge roll mechanic they advertised didnt work cause it wasnt bound, and it doesnt let you set the binding for it for whatever reason, so you literally had to reset your keybinds to default. Navigating the newer ui just didnt work on controller, things like the shop and the faction rank ui, along with the issue you were describing with the egg. You couldn't even close the nemesis menu on controller until the patch that just came out. These are things that become apparent as soon as you pick up a controller and try to play and they should not make it this far before being discovered and fixed. I play on controller as well, and i find using the right stick cursor great for when normal controller navigation isnt cutting it, but I always have a mouse nearby for when it inevitably runs into an issue.
The game is repetitive and they allow players to cheat with gold bugs and then they don’t fix the economy after it happens. They just say “here play a bad economy, while I’m chillin”.

There is nothing in the game that is going to go away yet, that will be the same for a few patches. Communicated everywhere many times - you could have googled this in less than 1 second..
I tried playing LE 1.1. I couldn't do it. Leveling in the story is brutal. The combat just doesn't satisfy like D4. There's just something odd about it. Needless to say I'm back to D4.
D4 mastered the feeling of your character having impact on the surroundings / monsters. That's remarkable. To me though, most other things are in favour of last epoch
@@CarnifaxMachine Every class isn't satisfying, it's not about the class, it's about the animations and the feel of impact. It's all floaty, everything is floaty in LE. People play LE for its mechanics, not visuals. The opposite of Diablo 4, pretty much, where there's great visuals but poor mechanics.
I bounced off this cycle pretty hard. The game is just kind of slow feeling. It takes way too long to get your build online. I particularly do not like the skill specialization system. I don't use guides so to me unlocking skills as you level with no way to rush them then punishing you for wanting to try them are two sysems that are at odds with each other. The grind up in LE just sucks. I got to corruption pushing monos last season but I don't feel like I want to do it all again.

This is the classic gamer cope you're doing "Oh, you didn't play long enough so your criticism is invalid". Then if you play long enough to get to endgame it's "Oh, well you played all the way to endgame so it couldn't have been that bad". My play experience is just as valid as anyone else's.
IMO if they just switched to a linear colour space instead of a gamma one it would do wonders for the look of it. I'm a big fan of vibrant looking areas but man, some of the colours in this game are so blown out it's just crazy. Like the garden area after the first keeper's camp has like neon green grass. It's just too much.
you certainly never tried 90's games jesus. Check diablo 2 and it wasn't even in 90, 2000. And colourful game is kinda unique and fun, you want different colours for skilsl etc.

They really should work on the particle effects. The game is good but these particle effects... oh man... they look like from 20 years ago. I'm sure that Unity Engine could do better so they have to hire some more talented people for this.
Agreed, they are really bad. Even the movement in the game feels like you are sliding on the ground compared to every other ARPG out there, really janky. I don't know of an ARPG after D2 with a worse engine/feel than LE. The latest patches to Grim Dawn make even Grim dawn so much better (Graphically) than LE now. They think by adding in better looking assets it fixes the serious jank issues with the game, but it just makes them more obvious.

It's really not much better than it was back then. They just have a better graphic artist doing the assets. Plus I really want the game to be good. I'm still hoping it gets there but my optimism is almost totally drained. Yeah its such a shallow season too.
LE has gotten boring. Sorry but after 300hrs the end game min max loop just isn’t that fun to me anymore. This update really hasn’t changed enough for me to care.

D4 is a *huge* disappointment; most wasted money I've given for a game. I played D4 on release, and s1, s2 with no problems with my potato/min reqs PC. The s4 was buggy/laggy af, played it for 30mins, had 3 crashes, and uninstalled the game. LE is my favorite arpg so far, probably until PoE2 comes out.
Loot filter is great, but I realized sometimes I just want to hop into a game and blast without worrying about all the filtering. It does kinda suck you really have to mess with it or else you get a shitload of drops that just cover the screen. If ppl are already creating custom filters for ppl to use, why not just standardize these filters into the game so we don't have to look elsewhere? Feels clunky and interruptive to be messing with this system honestly. Needs better QoL.
You just have to set it once, what the problem here? I can still hop on the game and blast every day without worrying about filter at all when i did it first day. Would make no sense to have hundred and hundred of different filter in game for every build. Would also spoil build possibility for people who play blind without watching build guide. Even the company itself is not even aware of all build possibility.
Well you gotta remember this guy plays literally 36 hours straight. For the average player you will get a lot more leverage than people who do this for their job.
The graphic is not very entertaining. Gender lock is so 2008.. forced to play the story is also lame. Idk bought last epoch and played only a hour and gave it back.

I agree with you, I am losing interest to raise corruption on every timeline to meet the harbingers, so ridiculous and time-wasting.

I have been telling people this boss is pretty easy. After watching you do it, it looks like very high damage cheeses it xD
The bugs are the most disappointing thing about the game. They really need to get on top of them or people will lose patience with the game.
Maps reset, cannot compare twin items (eg rings), bugs, server issues, no companion, too many weak skills and nodes, etc.
It takes to long to reach level 100 and level up your faction to the maximum. I already killed an Aberroth at level 97, and CoF is only level 10/12. What's the point of delaying leveling so much? After killing Aberroth, there is nothing to do in the game.
Faction progression takes over to other season characters. Just make a new one ;)
Game is better when you play multiple characters. if you just want to 'do everything once' on one char, youre playing the game wrong

@@HTeeB playing multiple characters is actually delaying your faction progress immensely. Last cycle it was 8/10 at 100, not 10/12.. still kinda bad. You need 2x 100lvl to get to max lvl
Monos should only be 25% of the gameplay loop when in end game they just aren’t fun enough to be the primary loop. It’s not that they are terrible but when it’s all you do it feels like it.
love the game, don't like monos as end game. At least there are ways to grind the gear for my build. need to wait for 2.0 for more end game content like any budding ARPG.
there are 2 things that put me off last epoch:
1. How characters interact with the world, the items look weird, the spell casting and attacks with weapons look weird
2. Items stats, I have to look at the top of whatever the stats are then at the bottom of an item, then do the same to compare against the item I want to change with, weapon stats are weird too, looking into how much damage a weapon does is really awkward.
Dont know if they cant fix this, I play for a bit and then just give up and play something else
I would love to see a full campaign skip after 1st story clear. Poe sucks without a campaign skip, i love playing multiple builds. LE trys with their convoluted skip.....just allow full skip.

I'm really mad about the gold dupe thing. they really need to do more to fix that, like remove gold from trading or let people switch to ssf keeping the faction. items are like in the millions now. They also should have been in contact with GGG and try to release their season nto at the same time. overall though the game is better and I have no need to play D4 anymore
Can anyone tell me why I can't deposit/interact with egg when I find a nemesis?
I use controller. I can click on "replace" but when I try to add a non Weavers Will / no LP unique item I cannot.
I can select a unique from either my inventory or stash and hover it over the box to deposit but it will not go in.
This happens every time, every instance. What am I doing wrong?
The parch 1.1.2 was released about 12h ago and it had a few fixes for controller interaction with nemesis

I played for hours after the patch and had many interactions with the nemesis/egg mechanic. Still no go.
They just dont test stuff on controller for whatever reason. Day 1, the evade button for the big new dodge roll mechanic they advertised didnt work cause it wasnt bound, and it doesnt let you set the binding for it for whatever reason, so you literally had to reset your keybinds to default. Navigating the newer ui just didnt work on controller, things like the shop and the faction rank ui, along with the issue you were describing with the egg. You couldn't even close the nemesis menu on controller until the patch that just came out. These are things that become apparent as soon as you pick up a controller and try to play and they should not make it this far before being discovered and fixed. I play on controller as well, and i find using the right stick cursor great for when normal controller navigation isnt cutting it, but I always have a mouse nearby for when it inevitably runs into an issue.
The game is repetitive and they allow players to cheat with gold bugs and then they don’t fix the economy after it happens. They just say “here play a bad economy, while I’m chillin”.

There is nothing in the game that is going to go away yet, that will be the same for a few patches. Communicated everywhere many times - you could have googled this in less than 1 second..

I tried playing LE 1.1. I couldn't do it. Leveling in the story is brutal. The combat just doesn't satisfy like D4. There's just something odd about it. Needless to say I'm back to D4.

D4 mastered the feeling of your character having impact on the surroundings / monsters. That's remarkable. To me though, most other things are in favour of last epoch
What class did you play such that the combat didn't feel satisfying?
@@CarnifaxMachine Every class isn't satisfying, it's not about the class, it's about the animations and the feel of impact. It's all floaty, everything is floaty in LE. People play LE for its mechanics, not visuals. The opposite of Diablo 4, pretty much, where there's great visuals but poor mechanics.
I bounced off this cycle pretty hard. The game is just kind of slow feeling. It takes way too long to get your build online.
I particularly do not like the skill specialization system. I don't use guides so to me unlocking skills as you level with no way to rush them then punishing you for wanting to try them are two sysems that are at odds with each other.
The grind up in LE just sucks. I got to corruption pushing monos last season but I don't feel like I want to do it all again.
Comment by someone that hasn't event gotten to the part of the game where the game is. You dont use guides, so you've no idea what you're doing and getting tired of it... lmao

@@HTeeB Last cycle I got to corruption pushing monos on my home brew characters. I just don't feel like putting in the slog to do it all again. This is the classic gamer cope you're doing "Oh, you didn't play long enough so your criticism is invalid". Then if you play long enough to get to endgame it's "Oh, well you played all the way to endgame so it couldn't have been that bad". My play experience is just as valid as anyone else's.
They need to get rid of the campaign mode, leveling in all of the endgame would be better. The campaign could be used alternatively.

IMO if they just switched to a linear colour space instead of a gamma one it would do wonders for the look of it. I'm a big fan of vibrant looking areas but man, some of the colours in this game are so blown out it's just crazy. Like the garden area after the first keeper's camp has like neon green grass. It's just too much.
you certainly never tried 90's games jesus. Check diablo 2 and it wasn't even in 90, 2000. And colourful game is kinda unique and fun, you want different colours for skilsl etc.

This game takes after d2 and it sounded like 90 percent of the comments here started with d3... you know, a game that babies these new arpg players. Anyone that actually played d2 and not 2 sec of d2r would not complain about the leveling

skipped this cycle after a few hundred hours in 1.0 and prior, mono grind is just too boring and I didn't have it me to do it again
Great systems, mobs, boss's.. depressingly mediocre world and endgame is just another clearly visible hamster wheel.
Got completely bored of the game in 2 days. I just can't get into this game, don't know why it doesn't resonate with me.
They really should work on the particle effects.

Agreed, they are really bad. Even the movement in the game feels like you are sliding on the ground compared to every other ARPG out there, really janky. I don't know of an ARPG after D2 with a worse engine/feel than LE. The latest patches to Grim Dawn make even Grim dawn so much better (Graphically) than LE now. They think by adding in better looking assets it fixes the serious jank issues with the game, but it just makes them more obvious.
@@Peanutfiendsblog Animation system in Unity is terrible so I'm not surprised that it feels janky. But I know that for sure particles could look way better so is less on the Engine side and more on the dev side.

I dont know why they used unity when unreal exist. Like the game both feel and looks like shit and on top of that they have 100 ppl and all they did was 1 boss 2 mini bosses and a shop window in 4 months. How pathetic tbh
@@Productive_Chad I bought the game right when it started early access with a promise that they were going to revamp all the graphics before release. It's really not much better than it was back then. They just have a better graphic artist doing the assets. Plus I really want the game to be good. I'm still hoping it gets there but my optimism is almost totally drained. Yeah its such a shallow season too.

LE has gotten boring. Sorry but after 300hrs the end game min max loop just isn’t that fun to me anymore. This update really hasn’t changed enough for me to care.

Sorry but D4 does almost nothing better than Last Epoch, LE has a better end game and I can feel the passion of the team making this game, D4 is just a big corporate money maker, no passion on doing it
D4 is a *huge* disappointment; most wasted money I've given for a game. I played D4 on release, and s1, s2 with no problems with my potato/min reqs PC. The s4 was buggy/laggy af, played it for 30mins, had 3 crashes, and uninstalled the game. LE is my favorite arpg so far, probably until PoE2 comes out.
dungeons suck , non scaling corruption to every timeline sucks, performance sucks
Loot filter is great, but I realized sometimes I just want to hop into a game and blast without worrying about all the filtering. It does kinda suck you really have to mess with it or else you get a shitload of drops that just cover the screen. If ppl are already creating custom filters for ppl to use, why not just standardize these filters into the game so we don't have to look elsewhere? Feels clunky and interruptive to be messing with this system honestly. Needs better QoL.
You just have to set it once, what the problem here? I can still hop on the game and blast every day without worrying about filter at all when i did it first day.
Would make no sense to have hundred and hundred of different filter in game for every build. Would also spoil build possibility for people who play blind without watching build guide. Even the company itself is not even aware of all build possibility.
Le will be just another bug to be crushed by poe2 boots.

The graphic is not very entertaining. Gender lock is so 2008.. forced to play the story is also lame. Idk bought last epoch and played only a hour and gave it back.
