I remember 23 years ago when I was pregnant and our church had my family and I had to stand up and I was pregnant I didn't really know what to feel about that at the time. I was 19 yrs old.
That would be the last time they saw me and my family. We would all walk out of the church together. The only person my child needs to ask for forgiveness from is God, and that’s a private prayer. It’s not something that needs to be said in front of witnesses.
I am so triggered by this video. I too grew up in the church , left and NEVER looked back. IMHO , organized religion is about control , money, intolerance and judgement . Shame on the pastor and congregation to put this young lady through such trauma . Religious trama is a real thing , I’ll be damn if I left another human do this to me. There is rampant CA and SA in the church and the congregations support the pastors and not the victims. 🤬🤬🤬 I’m glad you called this out .

I wasn't taught anything and learned certain lessons the hard way and hated myself for the lack of knowledge I felt lost and still struggle to this day. It’s true!! My family (mother’s side) are super religious (Apostolic) . They always had something NEGATIVE to say about women who got pregnant and not married. MAJORITY of the women and very young ladies in my family. Therefore, I’m 43 with no children because I never got married. I literally felt that I would be chastised for getting pregnant. I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE (the video of the young lady) and it was traumatizing. I’m grappling with the fact I let that nonsense control my life and decisions. Only to later realize ……… they all got pregnant in their teens (the elders). Chileeeeeee this is one reason I don’t fool with them and their hypocrites!
My baby sister was looked down on by one of the biggest churches in Memphis,TN bc she was pregnant with a mixed race baby. Never in my life seen such shit. My nieces are mixed white and black. They are absolutely beautiful and a blessing. These churches are cult followings. They will discriminate against you for anything and I damn sure would not ever put my kids in a church that looks down on you bc you love someone with a different color skin.

Pastors like this are normally the ones secretly paying prostitutes. I went thru a situation where I was treated like garbage by a church for being pregnant and unwed. My husband and I had 2 children before getting married. His family is high up in the church and they never mistreated us and stopped attending the church that shunned me pretty much. My father in law is now a deacon at a church and welcomes everyone. Pregnant and unwed,tattooed people, drug addicts, alcoholics,etc. Bc its not about judgment, its about hearing the word of God. I almost named my daughter Scarlett bc of how I was treated. I started attending a new church when I moved. I got asked is there something I can pray about with you, I asked them to pray for my husband bc he was battling drug addiction. How I got treated afterwards was DISGUSTING.. me and my kids haven't stepped foot in a church since then and will not. God is within me, I don't need to attend a cult meeting.

My 5 yo was told in Sunday school she was going to hell because she didn't have a father... She was crying when she was brought back to me... This is very common in the apostolic pentecostal churches... They believe you have to come before the church and reveal your sins... However, scripture says to go before the 'elders' in PRIVATE. (I'm paraphrasing.... I grew up in this and have converted to another religion. I saw this type of thing being done SEVERAL TIMES... Very sad... They will have to give in account for this because what about their "hidden sin" that others can't see? 🤔 People are not perfect and no person should pass condemnation.... Extremely thankful to no longer be under that teaching! They also forget that the most influential individuals in the Bible were born out of wedlock....
Wow... this is horrible, was this an immaculate conception? What happened to the man and why is this any of their business? The way I'm set up if that were me and the pastor told me to do that I'm ashamed to say he would have caught my hands and feet! I have to add that when you are raised in a strict religious household the usual way is to shield, overprotect and gaslight until the children either rebel (like I did) or they become indoctrinated adults with poor life skills and the inability to form healthy relationships due to the guilt and perceived judgement hanging over them.

Your relationship should be with God and Fellowship with the church members. You don't have to leave church. You do however have to use your Discernment. Flee from a church like this. Her apology and repentance is between her and God alone. I'm sure every member in that church has sinned, as All have. If this pastor is going that route than every person, starting with the pastor needs to stand in front of that table and confess their sins.
Respectfully, are we dealing with preachers who are semi-literate or illiterate about Christianity. Many such preachers simply start preaching and attract a following without any in-depth studying or reflection on Christ and His teachings. We are all sinners, and this belief s biblical. Why are those who are pregnant out of wedlock the only ones who must make a public confession? I doubt if all of those who are unmarried are celibate. Why are they also not required to make public confessions and promise to stop sinning? I can't imagine Auntie attending any denomination with such unholy practices, especially since she is providing counseling of sorts to the public. Now, we must question her advice to us. We don't know what caused her to stop attending church, but we know that all Christian denominations do not practice such vile theology. Jesus said let one who is as white as snow cast the first stone. That man who is hell-bent on closing down the church is wrong as well. He is violating the law and the Constitution. The pregnant teen and the child's father are wrong, but the girl's parents should support the young lady and their grandchild. The child's father should also provide some support for his child.The situation would, however, bring shame to our family.
