- My tribute to Gerry Anderson’s UFO and Derek Meddings’s spectacular models and special effects. UFO is a 1970 British science fiction television series about the ongoing covert efforts of a government defense organization to prevent an alien invasion of Earth.
I remember this show 😮
Still as good now as when it was made.I think that is true of all of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson shows.
Some maybe 50years old or more, but the magic is still there.
I always liked the piece of music at the beginning.
This was a great show to watch growing up.
Ditto! Thanks for watching!
Timeless!... we look at this with the same chikdhood enthusiasm that hasn't gone away ... Great TV series 👍📺
The greatest tv show evarrrrrrrrr
As an older t.v. series "U.F.O." does not see a lot of love these days. I still find charm in its mod alternate reality and quirky mechanicals.
I have heard some people deride the Skys' aerodynamics, but in-show the things obviously work well. The design is apparently significantly more advanced inside than its lunchbox-friendly exterior suggests.
60's/70s British science fiction. Gary Anderson is an pop icon.
Gerry
@@graemehogg7033 Indeed!
Built one out of my limited Lego in the 70s..loved it. Then about 5 years ago I bought a product enterprise one..waited almost 50 years...in its box and immaculate...love it. Best designed bit of kit.
so nice ! I saw this tv 50years ago 1970 in japan

Great British design.
I think that Derek Medding's name wouldn't be entirely out of place alongside Sidney Camm, R.J.Mitchell, Roy Chadwick, Barnes Wallis.....
I enjoyed that - ty RDP - 🛸👽✨
I have got the whole TV series of Ed Bishop in UFO 🛸 collection of two parts of episodes of the whole TV series as I am dedicating these DVDS to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
You forgot the Captains have to be either Dancers (Mr Gordon, ) or milk tray delivery men, the other one
True that!
Peter Gordeno [1939 - 2008] (“Capt. Carlin”, first commander of Skydiver) was a British dancer, recording artist, cabaret singer, choreographer, and occasional actor.
Gary Myers [b. 1941] (“Capt. Waterman”, second commander of Skydiver) is an Australian model and actor, best known as the original "Milk Tray Man" in the long-running television advertising campaign for the Cadbury chocolates that ran from 1968 until 1984.
The other one who was captain of A Skydiver was David Warbeck in Reflections In The Water and Destruction and another actor in The Psychobombs on Skydiver 3 which was blown up out of the water..
Excelente video 😃
That's a fantastic show! Groovie music great special effects great cast lots of colour incredible Aircraft Spacecraft and vehicles by Derek Meddings and model maker team. One of Jerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson greats.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Couldn't agree more!
The birds in the string vests is the only reason I watch this.
I'm smiling after reading your comment. Your phraseology was nostalgic, reminded me of long past teenage years. I think you'll know to what I'm referring. 🤭
The lads in the string vest were the only reason I watched it.
@@swordscot considering the programmes audience and viewership, that would be understandable and was probably expected.
What an awful comment, you should be ashamed of yourself! What about the purple wigged birds on Moonbase?
Dolores Mantez😍
Grew up with UFO, brillant Jazz-Funk theme tune, really sexy women with their scantily clad 80s uniform, supercool. At the time state of the art special effects, some episodes used to scare the pants off me, had nightmares when I was a kid. Colonel Foster, snatched by the Aliens, and having to breathe liquid oxygen, bloody terrified me. Never forgot that episode😊
British composer Barry Gray’s (1908-1984) music is iconic!
And "Ordeal" (Ep 19) is the episode that gave you nightmares: Col. Foster (Michael Billington, 1941-2005) passes out in a sauna, and awakens just as aliens are kidnapping him. The aliens put Foster in a UFO and take off. In the end, he was simply imagining the abduction while all along safely on Earth.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for replying, and pointing out the episode, that haunted me in my young youth. I'm surprised that none of the Jazz-Funk bands never did a cover of the UFO theme music, like the James Taylor Quartet, or Incognito, they would've kept the original tune intact and expanded upon it. Still a great toe tapper. For a brilliant show. Favourite episode, when there tracking down, two Aliens in the Canadian forest. Shadow mobiles and some serious hand to hand combat, the title of the episode eludes me.
The Computer Affair.
The finest submarine there has been.... or ever will be.
Stingray?
Seaview?
Did any of the programs ever show how the aircraft re docked?
Unfortunately, the redocking of Sky and Diver was never shown. Perhaps it can be imagined that the Sky fighter would do a controlled ditching on the sea surface and await pickup and coupling… but I guess we’ll never be sure…

I'm Curious....🤔
If there are three (3) Captains, are there Three (3) 'Skydivers'???
There is more than one ‘Skydiver’ but, it is also established early on that SHADO personnel rotate between positions, so the occasional disappearance of characters - some of whom later returned in other positions - fits the concept of the series. For example, ‘Captain Lew Waterman’ (Gary Myers) starts as a Moon interceptor pilot and later becomes the captain of Skydiver, replacing ‘Peter Carlin’ (Peter Gordeno, who left the show after six episodes because he wanted to avoid typecasting).
I grew up in the 70s UFO thw series personally was not for made for young children to was more adult theme
Like my other favourite Sci fit series Space 1999 I grew up and idolised this series
Today these series would not be made unless they turn certain scenes down and I. Agree with that
I Want the Model.
I want to be captain of Skydiver :)
I want any one of the three Moon womynz. Purple wigs on Halloween was never the same after this series...!
Product Enterprise did a model some years ago, and I really wanted one but couldn't afford it at the time. I kick myself for not getting one back then, as they're worth quite a bit now.
Ebay
We teens did enjoy women's net outfits
🦋🐉🦅❤️✨✌️
Não lembro se passou no Brasil
Em 1973, esta serie foi apresentada no Brasil, dublada, um ano após a introdução do sistema PAL-M de transmissão e dos primeiros modelos de TV a cores no mercado brasileiro. Obrigado pela visualização.
Ugh. I wish you'd not covered up the BTS photos with text.
Nice suggestion... thanks for watching!
