Kate it must make your dad proud to be so involved with the family business. You are a great example for our young ladies today. I have two beautiful and talented daughters that both worked for me starting at the age of 16 in construction. One was great in the office and the other could load 200 trucks a day with and excavator or loader and could out operate most men. They both moved on to their own successful ventures and I couldn’t be more proud. It’s youth like you that will always make our country great.

@@KatesAg I grew up on a 1080 farm. My first tractor that I drove was an A model John Deere that was started by turning a wheel. We finally got a 4010 JD when they came out and that was a huge difference. Your farm looks much bigger. Stay safe and keep them JDs moving.

The multiple views approach with incorporating the drone images synched with your pieces is really good for the perspective and showing the reality of your farming experience. So often we only see one direction of view and miss the 360 point of view - it is the expanse of your Montana farm that always leaves me with the impression of the solitude that is possible and the value of working together with a good team to make each day something to look forward to. Nice video as always, that is good you have a suspension seat otherwise you would have gotten tossed around a lot more. It's a nice view from the drone on how much land you own and it's probably not even all of the areas of land that you own. Great teamwork keep it going.

Can farmer dig wells to get water for the crops? If we can dig oil, why not water. A water well in South Western Vietnam costs less than a thousand dollars. We digged our own well on Pulau Bidong island in Malaysia in the 90s. If you are close by Yellowstone river; there is a higher chance of hitting underground water.

I know here in Wisconsin, I am seeing more land owners paying private businesses that only do planting and harvesting to save cost on equipment, as well as labor. Since now their is no cost in equipment, due to the fact that equipment is very costly. Now in my grand Father’s Day, equipment was shared among farmers, how much has changed in 2 to 3 generations. Do you see this as well happening in Montana as well.
Thank you for your terrific story and kindness! Yes, custom cutters are really popular around here too. We use them to cut our pulse crops because we don't have flex headers for our combines. The custom cutters are very efficient, fast and super nice people. We still cut our own wheat and barley but not our pulse crops.

i never thought I'd spend an afternoon watching a tractor, but it is mesmerizing. Kate does a good job of speaking simply and with the basics so I can understand what is going on. My tractor driving was a ford workmaster from the 1950s, not these behemoths. The immensity of those fields is AWESOME. I like the drone shots so thanks Pop, but I cant see those big rocks she is talking about. I also agree about the comment on seat belts. Farming equipment is dangerous, and you cant be too safety minded.

I know here in Wisconsin, I am seeing more land owners paying private businesses that only do planting and harvesting to save cost on equipment, as well as labor. Since now their is no cost in equipment, due to the fact that equipment is very costly. Now in my grand Father’s Day, equipment was shared among farmers, how much has changed in 2 to 3 generations. Do you see this as well happening in Montana as well.
Thank you for your terrific story and kindness! Yes, custom cutters are really popular around here too. We use them to cut our pulse crops because we don't have flex headers for our combines. The custom cutters are very efficient, fast and super nice people. We still cut our own wheat and barley but not our pulse crops.

i never thought I'd spend an afternoon watching a tractor, but it is mesmerizing. Kate does a good job of speaking simply and with the basics so I can understand what is going on. My tractor driving was a ford workmaster from the 1950s, not these behemoths. The immensity of those fields is AWESOME. I like the drone shots so thanks Pop, but I cant see those big rocks she is talking about. I also agree about the comment on seat belts. Farming equipment is dangerous, and you cant be too safety minded.

Another awesome video. I like the no till method makes sense there Kate. We do a similar thing with our garden. We leave some of last years plants to hold the soil against the wind. Weeds are a never ending battle.
