I also used to have that same problem but what I did was I practiced on one hand and then in the other and I put them together by playing the song slowly and as I get better I speed up till it's the correct tempo of the actual song

Practice Bach.
He's the biggest help on gaining independence with both hands.
Bach's inventions are also somewhat beginner-friendly.
