This was an even bigger experiment than vice grip methinks. I think its ballsy knowing a lot of the old school fans are going to go "wtf, 80's much." I think Winston wanted to sing a bit more, but I prefer his singing on a deathless song better. I gotta admit those guitar licks are catchy as fuck and I digged the little solo. If they do this with a couple songs on an album i'm cool with it, but if it turns into half the album I will be pretty annoyed. The article I read said the other new track has a heavier older parkway feel. Looks like tomorrow we will see!

Every album they have made has always been awesome i feel Ire has the best versatility. Every song they sound like parkway drive. Except for this one. but i do like songs that can have a 80s sound to it. i hope they experiment more. cuz it allows happy artists. happy artists make great music. but it might not fit to everyone all the time. thats the beauty of art/music. if they make a bad album oh well ill stop listening to them and comback when they make a album that appeals to me. ill never bash bands for wanting to expand.

Been listening since 03-04 and, while the music is different, I like it more than their earlier stuff that got me hooked.
Me too and I've had the pleasure of meeting them 3x over the years twice at bamboozle at the meadowlands back in May of 08&09 and October 2016 in Sayerville NJ after their set thanks to my parents and my ex fiance Anna setting it up for my 25th birthday that I had no idea about even though I had already gotten the tickets for the show. Plus I was able to meet Kyle Pavone and Dave Stephens of we came as romans since they opened up for parkway drive that night and we we're literally parked by their tour buses.
What ever style they play....it always sounds amazing!
These guys are evolving to where they belong. Very proud to say that I'll be a Parkway Drive fan forever. How can anyone stray away from this band knowing where they come from and what they are trying to give to the world? Listen to the song for what it is, not what you want it to be.

I saw this band with about 150 people early in their career. You could tell then they were something that could become massive. Every album is great for different reasons.

You know the band is amazing when you listen at 18 then again at 28 and they make you feel the exact same way.
That's how I feel about Killswitch Engage been listening to them since 2004 I think The End of Heartache album released but i listened to Alive or Just Breathing first. So its been almost 17 years. Been to 2 of their concerts and got tickets to see them again. They really know how to put on a show.
The sound has changed completely. I miss the days when I was hyped for new Parkway songs, now I just dont really like their new stuff. Still, it seems like a lot of people dig it, so good for them I guess.

I've always viewed metal as a give no fucks, take no shit genre umbrella. Black metal, death metal, metalcore, deathcore, thrash, blackened death, blackened thrash and any subgenre that's come out since Black Sabbath founded metal has always been just that.
I may not care for a band, but you're allowed to like who you like and dislike who you dislike. And that's one thing I'll never let anyone do, is tell me my band isn't metal enough or I shouldn't listen to them. If they have a sound I like, fuck it! I don't care about off stage politics as much as I care if they can zen my mind.
Also while I've never been to a show, my boyfriend is a metalhead and can confirm that metal pits are often a look out for one another area. One person falls, someone helps you up. So why is it we'll do it in the pit, but not be ok with each other's differing tastes? Mind you I'll listen to Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, The 69 Eyes, Poisonblack and other gothy bands and EBM/industrial music, but my first love will always be metal and will forever hold a spot in my heart. So people... stop fucking giving a fuck about what others listen to because the band doesn't give a fuck if you hate their music, as they know they have fans who do. And to them fans mean everything.

back before i really became addicted to music i didnt like anything really past deep blue, now im finding i enjoy all their newer music now as much as i enjoyed dont close your eyes, killing with a smile, and horizons, in highschool. i dont understand it but it happened to me too.. all i know is i love all their material, no matter what overall sound they had for each album, it ALL still has the heart and soul that drew me to parkway to fuckin begin with if not more to be honest... their anger is more focused and seems to possibly even be growing which im not sure has ever happened with any band in history of metal. if theres one good thing to come of the constant decline of civilization its all of parkway drives discography
Damn, I listen to Parkway Drive since 2007 and I listen to many, many other metal band, to black sabath to infant anihilator and lorna shore. But men parkway drive is pure gold !!
I only found PWD a couple of years ago in my mid 40s. The best part is I get to experience all their music at once. I love it all . Same with Trivium and KSE
you guys have to understand something, these guys have been around for over a decade touring their hearts out and playing the same songs over and over. Songs like these are the bands way of experiencing something new (which is a huge passion of theirs if you were unaware). Just appreciate the music... if you don't like the song, don't listen to it.

I've never heard this band until recently, and holy fuck the guitarists are great. It's awesome hearing this style of playing in modern metalcore.
Why is it that fanboys get upset when their favorite band drop a different track. I find that PD broke from the generic metalcore into something awesome a groovy yet still heavy. I enjoy IRE and all of the tasty riffs.

Both the new and old Parkway Drive is awesome. If you can't appreciate the artists progression, then you need to open your mind and expand your horizons with more music. (with the exception of Country and Western...which will always suck in my book) I'm looking so forward to their new album. ROCK ON!

Comparing their old stuff to their new material, man they have come a long way. They were great before but now they elevated to another level. Their songs consists of great instrumental work and beautiful harmonies which are fun to sing along to. Man this is why these guys are legendary.

I love old and new parkway. i think theyve progressed well as a band. To me this song kicks major ass, and if you dont like it thats fine. But how have theyve sold out? In my opinion theyve just moved away from metalcore and are going in a more metal aproach to things. Im very okay with some more riffs and better song structures rather than a lot of chugging and breakdowns .

AGREED! Glad I'm not the only one thinking it's different from the old AND good. I like it more metal and not sooo much core. They did make a bit more of screams and growls and maybe darker themes in the old stuff, but I almost like this better. Too much growling causes me to have to look up lyrics and only understand it through that.Complete honesty. I wanna hear the lyrics. Growling and screaming is fine, but it needs to be understandable.

I absolutely love this song. Been a huge fan of PD since the original release of Killing with a Smile here in New Zealand. Before they were world known. Their music has changed a lot, but regardless of whether I like one of their songs I will still be a fan of these guys. If you haven't watched either of their movies, please do. Both are amazing and really will give you a massive respect for these guys as a whole. I'm also 4th cousins with their drummer. (I searched back through records to figure it out) :P

I never heard of this band until 3 months ago. A local radio station played the Void, so I looked them up and listened to their old stuff to the Reverence album, and been a fan ever since. I'm a 47 year old, old school metal head, but these guys kick ass. I'm hoping they come to Atlanta, one day.

They never did, their lyrics speak a zillion thoughts we are all thinking. It's intriguing truth that is hard to put on a (by design curriculum) misinformed youth black t-shirt. On good note it puts fire in the hearts of young men and women regardless of their growing pains t also think outside the box on humanity.

I've never commented on youtube but for once, I just wanted to say that I really liked this album guys, including those last songs. Yes, it's different but that's the thing. You can do whatever you want, it's awesome. My fav will always be Atlas because I relate to a lot of songs, actually Sleight of Hand makes me almost cry every damn time (don't know why).
But I like IRE, I really really like it. I like how we have a whole panel of songs. You don't categorize your music, you just play it. And more than the awesome music you make, it's a good spirit right there and that's why I really dig your band. You seem so sincere and authentic, with yourself and with the fans. You grow up, you try, you do the fuck you want to, and that's terrific. Even now, we can still be surprised by a song and that, right there, this " Oh fuck ", is just everything.
Yes, people have the right to be disapointed, to not dig the album, it's even normal (I would be worried if everyone digged the same shit) but seriously : it still is Parkway Drive. No matter how many new albums they're doing, Horizon will still exist. Parkway Drive will still be Parkway Drive.
This is music. Some of the fans are like children (really speeking of this fucking genereation Y I'm part of), « I want everything to be as *I* want », « Why everybody doesn't think like *I* do ». Well guess what : the world does not exist to please you. Music does not exist for YOU and YOU only. It just exists. Whether you like or not is a different question. It's there. It exists. Dig it. Don't dig it. Won't change a damn thing.
And your opinion on what Parkway Drive is or is not, or was or is not anymore, nobody cares either, THEY ARE, THEY WERE, AND THEY WILL BE, that's all. Like it. Don't. But do not justify your "comment" based on "that's not what Parkway Drive is", there is as many Parkway Drives as there are listeners... everybody as their own perception of things, including music and bands. Just accept for once that things exist independently of what you think/whish they are/were.
(just before I've stated my own PERCEPTION of the band and that's my perception, that's not necessarily the reality and I do not pretend it to be like you are).
Also, it's not because you don't like an album that you are not a "fan" anymore. Fans (and "true fans" or whatever that may be but youtube seems to care a lot about being "true fans") are not just robot liking everything their band is doing just because it's their band doing it.
Anyway. I'm just grateful Parkway Drive continues to make music. And yes, maybe, maybe one day they'll do something I dig less, maybe I will be disapointed as fuck, but I would still be grateful as hell for all the albums and the music they put out there, for all this awesomeness I had the chance to headbang to.

I've always admired that metal lyrics are usually very uplifting; if not always calling for a stance against social injustice or inequality. Its not just angry noise (now, granted, there are some songs that are literally titled "You make me sick" xD so some is angry noise lol but annnnyway). I've always been a PD fan. Don't see a problem with them changing their sound... they've been doing this for quite a few years and the band members are all getting older. I feel that the melodic guitars show that they have MATURED more as a whole band, and that the past days of brutal breakdowns and such were a product of them being younger and angrier. I love everything from KWAS to Ire, and I think every fan of the band should continue to support them no matter what.

Scott Mcmullin Selling out refers to a band selling letting a producer chose what they play and not for monetary gain. Parkway got bored of doing the same type of music for 10+ years. They went in a different direction. Its qute sad the labels fans put on bands. If you stay the same you get called a generic band with no musical talent. If you change it up and try something new you're called a sellout.

Not really selling out when Winston said they wrote music they wanted to do and were inspired by. They grew up listening to old school punk and rock and stuff I'm pretty sure.
