His cousin J Bosela gave up his job to "become the family spokesperson", translation: because he thought the compo payout would be so massive that nobody in the family would ever need to work again. I'm sure he's being courted assiduously by greedy lawyers at this very moment.

I suspect if they are confronted by a violent or threatening criminal self preservation will kick in and they will react in a similar manner. This should not have gone to court nor should they bring charges against soldiers who shoot unarmed people in the heat of battle or other tense and potentially life threatening situations. It's all too easy for people sat in nice cosy offices knowing the worse thing that will happen to them that day is they may get a parking ticket to pass judgement on someone who has reacted out of genuine fear for their and other people's lives, same applies to people who confront burglars in their own homes, they are reacting out of fear not malice.
The biggest problem we have these days is independent enquiries and the bodies that enact them, which I understand the need for, may not always act in a non partisan way. In some people's minds that policeman would have been guilty the moment he pulled the trigger, regardless of the situation he faced.
