I was a platoon commander in the Marine Corps during this time. Since I was the Lt I ate last. I always got this one somehow because the Marines hated it. I never much liked it either. Thanks for the memories!

If you were the last one to the box then you were always left with omelette with ham or that tuna casserole bullshit. And in infantry you rarely had the luxury of heating up your food, so it was already shitty food and it was cold.
Leaders eat last, I was an Army cadet in ‘93, commissioned in ‘96 and this was a nostalgic video. I too never really liked this MRE until I went to Ranger School. It’s one of the larger meals and even had the “sawdust bar” (oatmeal).

The new MREs are much better tasting than the originals from 30 years ago. The dehydrated beef and pork patties in those MRE meals were hideous. A fellow soldier put a beef patty in his dog's dish, poured water to rehydrate it, and his dog would not eat it - actually looked up as if the dog was thinking, "What did I do to deserve that?"
And of course, military humor was fun.
Potatoes Au Gratin became "Potatoes All Rotten."
The "John Wayne" toilet paper was 'rough, tough, and won't take crap off of anyone.'
We did learn how to make Ranger Cookies from some genuine infantrymen, using components of the MREs. The formula was easy and the sugar cookies produced were tasty!

My army veteran ex said he and his platoon buddies called this "the vomlette" because it was so vile.

Loved the video but you can skip the eating part..all the prep is more than enough for me.
I think the omelette with ham taps were some of the best taps I've ever heard. Had to rewind 2x for some more of those tingles.

Oh man....I used to LOVE the oatmeal cookie bar. We used to call it the sawdust bar. I was usually the only one that liked them. The stooped putting up hem in MREs around 2001 or 2002. I sure do miss them.

OH ! Ham Omelette is the worst MRE ever. The other things were okay. But there is not enough hot sauce in the world that can cover that smell and taste. Half bad?!? You sir are a machine. My hats off to you. I could never stomach #4.

Another MRE review and ASMR from the Fantastic Lloyd.
I haven’t seen the video yet but I’m going to guess what happens.
1. Any small packets or bottles will be kept by Lloyd in mint condition.
2. If it smells bad, Lloyd will refer to it as dirty socks. dunno why Lloyd knows what dirty socks taste like (lol)
3. Lloyd will take a proper mouthful/spoonful of the food.
4. Even if he doesn’t like the smell, he’s still going to try it.
5. He will hold the MRE up to the mic while it is cooking.
Did I miss anything?
I’m hoping Lloyd isn’t making himself sick by eating these older MREs.

I was wrong on many of my guesses.
Lloyd is very descriptive, and very effective in helping someone with a strong imagination to feel like they are really experiencing his role-plays. Which is great for his diner videos, but not so great when he’s talking about how something smells like vomit (turns out I wasn’t so hungry for dinner after all).
Lloyd, I hope you’re doing well,
you make me worry about your risks of stomach pain or worse after eating an MRE that is old enough to vote. I hope you are not in any discomfort after a meal like that one.

Hey Lloyd I just wanted to let you know if your having trouble with the older flameless ration heaters you can drop the retort pouches into boiling water and this will get them hot really fast. Hope this helps!
