Best baits: nite crawlers! My success, if off the shoreline was using clear Bobber,(clear bobber that you can feel with water)no bobber stopper. Barrel swivel about 2 ft leader and slow reeling. On the boat, barrel swival 2,3ft leader and different size split shots for different depths. Simple And easy way to catch Variety of fish. Cut nitecrawler Quarter inch above Abdomen. When threading your Nightcrawler, make sure that it spins. I use size 6 and 8 hooks. The size 6 and 8 hooks gives more action to the worm. We have a you tube video nitecrawler verse sak squides where i explain how i rig up my nitecrawlers. This technics works at every lake and have hooked monster rainbows. Both Techniques can be used off the shoreline. I hope You find this helpful?
There aren't any kokanee at Kapowsin. It was a salmon. But without seeing the mouth I couldn't tell for sure but the black spots lead me to believe it was a Chinook. I knew someone who lived by a creek that goes between Ohop and Kapowsin and when it flooded she said she would have salmon swimming in her orchard.

Love that lake… biggest problem is having your vehicle vandalized while you’re fishing! ☹️😡
