Agree with the music! I recently found out that I can only revise with music on if the music is instrumental. I personally enjoy the The Theory of Everything soundtrack for revision c:
I'm not a morning person. I generally try to avoid mornings whenever possible and thankfully I can usually do that. BTW for the US viewers: Paracetamol is more commonly known to us as Acetaminophen (pain reliever / fever reducer) - it isn't some exotic hardcore drug. It never occurred to me to take it to help with mornings. Interesting. Hurray for Claudio, the Sexy Swiss MATLAB Master! Thanks for the punting pole handling advice. I liked the shot of the chapel with the, "creepy", organ music. Seeing Jake struggle with the SoC supervision material caused me to really feel for him, like a super smart sad puppy. At least now this has passed. Good general music listening advice. Some people may be disappointed that they can't download Jake's brain over Spotify. Even though this vlog was mostly Jake as a talking head I enjoyed it. He has a very watchable face. As used to seeing Jake as I am, every so often he cuts to a scene with an angle and lighting that really reminds me just how striking he looks.
I absolutely love your videos! I'm planning to apply to Cambridge for 2016 entry and it's nice to see the daily life of an actual student. Hope your finals went well!
Could you publish a list of classical music you enjoy? I have difficulties creating a good list for studying, but found a very good song in one of your videos. Bach: Fuge and Prelude.
Sorry for the repeat, but never received a reply the first when asked. Jake Wright A bit late in asking this question but do you have a university web page -- space hosted on university server you use to share your CV, profile courses taken, etc., very much like the pages faculty have with links to the particular courses they lecture or have taught, and links to published papers? Also, what about cloud storage on university server? What I have in mind in asking is this: whenever I was in danger of being late on a p-set (problem set / homework assignment), I would upload to the drive storage on my university account and email download link. This allowed me to upload an edited and corrected draft in place of the original incomplete draft. This practiced saved on scanning and photocopying my homework that I would physically submit. Because if you scan to email anyway, your supervisor is just downloading the scanned file. Just the same if they download from your university cloud storage, which can amend later i.e. past the dateline time.
Hey Jake I have a question. Would you recommend doing STEP over the summer? I've just done my AS exams. I think I may want to do maths at uni, I'm not an amazing student or anything but I'm gonna give oxbridge a go. Thanks for uploading I enjoy your vlogs and I hope your exxams went well! :)
Observation: You made mentioned of this in a previous blog Jake Wright but you are never seen to be reading just writing in revision. Granted unlike a student of English Literature or Philosophy, CompSci may not involve similar amount of reading. Though, however, remarked in this video again, the lack of reading you do. Assigned reading is more than what seems to be doable, that is college. In the United States tradition, there is the presumption the student reads _before_ tackling the homework. What actually happens, more often than not, is the students read each problem from their p-set, look for comparable example from textbook or lecture notes and fudge the example into a solution to the assigned exercise problem. Properly done, good advice to everyone thus I bother to write so here, best to follow the 80-20 rule. Spend 80% reading and studying the material and only 20% on doing the p-sets, even less if the p-sets is evaluated to a lesser degree than exams or midterms.
Sheldon but exams test you on questions not on the amount of notes you make or how much you've read! Then again I'm not from the US, have no idea what a p-set is so this may be a case of misunderstanding between different education systems. I just thought that this was the complete opposite of any advice I've ever been given, and personally I would aim for 70-80% past papers and questions and 20-30% studying/making notes. How else would you get a feel for exams and tests? Granted you should always try to understand the material!
What would happen if you went to the supervision and just said 'I don't understand'?

Hey Jake do they have anything on AI systems and AI coding at Cambridge?
3:50 1st of May, wut?
Marcus van Bergen I am pretty sure he meant 1st of Jun, but...
Marcus van Bergen He's always behind with his vlogs, e.g. his jailbreak vlogs came out like 2 months after the event.
Jordan McGonagall It'll be first of May, considering the revision workload he's (was) under.

+jbentio It's the teaching method at Cambridge, essentially one on one/two tuition where you go over what you learnt in lectures
