I've seen this clip at least 5 times now. One of the most inspiring moments in strength athletics history. When you see the crowd, row after row standing up, is the stuff legends are made of. You'd not have seen better in a scripted Hollywood movie. For any of you who watches soccer, it would be like a retired national hero coming out of retirement at say, 45 yo, going to a World Cup with his national team and scoring 5 goals in the grand final. Crowd would cheer this guy forever in legends. This is exactly what Magnus has done here, he has shown once again why he is a 4x WSM champion and one of Iceland's (and the World's) greatest prouds.
Bill is such a beast! In my humble opinion, he's been able to tap into his rage as a source of motivation better than any other strongman I've seen at least. Such a joy to watch the man work
No way! No real champ would ever let that affect them mentally. And the Kaz is a real champ. He accepts that time runs its course. Even on the once invincible. He's a legend!!!
@@Zak-ob5ze natural testosterone levels of a 65 year old man will not permit that volume of muscle mass. it is beyond any reasonable doubt if you have followed training or strength for any period of time.

It's mad..the ridiculous feats of strength these men have to exhibit to make it to the top is definetly a path leading to injury...every year the bar is set higher..respect to the athletes for committing to putting their bodies through such trauma 🙏🏾
It's crazy and they ought to be more well known celebrities. The Internet has helped but strongman needs to be the Olympics. They put their bodies on the line! (PED testing might be a bit of an issue though... not for these gentlemen though!)
I'm not sure strongman belongs in the olypmics, they've got weight lifting which is more organized and universal. Strongman is more random and spectacular. I think the internet is making it more popular now.
Humility and honesty from Kaz. I was rooting for him so bad. Kudos to Magnus and what a great sign of respect. Age catches up with everyone. Even the great Kaz.

this right here brought me back to being a teenager..seeing these two inspired me to get into lifting and implement that during sports in high school and training into pro wrestling. kaz did that he went into wcw..man was a fkn beast in the ring compared to the regular wrestlers during that time. absolutely fantastic seeing this gods in the strongman world not only perform this and at this level, but also seeing the magic they still have inside.

Even now, he shows his grit and honors his heritage with an awesome display of strength. One of the greats!
The true world's strongest man. Bill kazmier, if you'll remember had to be kept from competition because no one could compete with him for years. If that hadn't happen he would've had about ten world's trophies. Bill is and will always be the best strong man ever.
I have three words to say to you:
Jón
Páll
Sigmarsson
Grubnar and two words. Thirty Two.
That’s an urban legend, started by Bill. The real story is Bill had a falling out with his sponsors and he made up the ‘uninvited’ story to save face
IF he had competede those years I'm sure he would've wone another one... Even maybe 2 (I'm not really sure about that), but not more than those hypothetical 2... But 10 WSM? That's just plain stupid, lol. And no one could compete with him because his time was back when the entire field was filled with wrestlers, linebackers and powerlifters with 0 experience.
Is that true or are you playing
Nothing But respect for the Good Ol’ guys!!! 😈. The fire and willpower still Burns strong in their eyes.
With a name like Magnus ver Magnusson you could only be the World's Strongest Man.
They put on a great show. Love how mature Magnus is, I think he's the most consummate professional in the field of Strongman so perfectly fitting he referees for other athletes.
If I tried that it’d just pull both my arms clean off ......
It’d be one helluva show for the crowd though.
Your grip would have to be stronger than your shoulder muscles and trust me they are not
@@tylerbrown3135 im a pretty skinny guy with decent hands and forearms, i could see this happening to myself lol
Everyone in the front row is in a splash zone if arms start flying lol
@@ignatiusgod5935 If something like that were to happen it would be by you holding on while relaxing your shoulder muscles which would result in popping your shoulder out and immediately losing grip. The amount of damage depends on how fast it falls.
@@tylerbrown3135 idk man i seem to be able to completely relax my shoulders and still grip as hard as i can, but well never know xd
If kaz was against someone his age he would've won. 10 years at their stages in life is a huge difference.
@pan peter I find it funny that the example you used of old people being exceptional has nothing to fucking do with this event...marathons? The fuck?
No. Probably not. Terrible form from the jump
you probably don't know who Magnus is
I certainly agree. Anyone that is 65 knows how much stronger (and had more energy), when they were 56.
Exactly. 35-45 wouldn't really make a difference for this type of event, but 55-65 is a different story.
Magnus is still a killer!
You mean a killer of older men.
@@harambo9805 not what he meant.
Wait what you mean
What are you talking about? Or is he literally killing people?
Looks like he can compete with the current wsm athletes.
Kaz is a legend...but what a viking Magnus... once a champ always a champ...the Viking blood is strong within him
Kaz in his prime would destroy Ver in any & every Strongman competition
@@hmackprotection1 no
megin na without a shadow of a doubt, Yes.
@@hmackprotection1 😂🤣😂
A journalist asked him some years ago how it felt to not be as strong as he once was. Magnus's eyes turned ice black and his mouth set in a grim grin. I hate it. I reeeaaally HATE iT!!! He then said in a quiet but quite frankly scary voice. And then as he just got a hold of himself he smiled, laughed and shrugged it off.
Damn I felt bad for Bill. You could just see the disappointment in his face. You're a legend 💪
5:20 my man tried to throw his shirt but then realized his shoulders are too fucked for that then played it cool. What an absolute mad lad.
Good on the announcer for mentioning that Kazmaier wasn't allowed to compete in the World's Strongest Man for several years. Kazmaier would probably have five or six titles if he hadn't been kept out during the prime of his career.
Why was Kazz left out
@@2Jeezuzisreal he was too good
@@2Jeezuzisreal Literally what the guy above said. He wasnt invited back because he was too dominant.
That's ridiculous really, it makes a mockery of calling the competition world's "strongest" man
That was one of the most epic moments I've witnessed in strongman.
56 and 65 years... I just hope I´m able to get up from the toilet after taking a shit by myself at 65... It was a great event.
@mysterious vegabond Life comes with a pack of disgraceful surprises, my friend.

I would hope that you could do more then that mate.

"Hasn't had an operation in at least 2 months" 😂😅😂😅
Wow magnus. Your 55 and could still match it with these current guys.
Nick Best is 50 and look what he is doing lately. Age is just a number to these guys.
Ok... they took 20 kilos off each side, 44 lbs per side out of the lift. YES, it was impressive ! However, if you know grip, or have ever trained it, you know 1¼ lbs... less than 1 kilo can make a HUGE difference. Do not get me wrong still very impressive for both men but if you take 88 lbs off a grip event, that is a huge difference.
@@toddhoward9867 it's not 88 lbs directly. He is not lifting the entire weight.
@@MrTVx99 I believe that is exactly what I stated. For the present strong man competition they use a certain weight. For these older gentlemen, they remove 20 kilos (44 lbs) 44 lbs in a grip event is HUGE !
Kasmair would have 5 or 6 WSM wins, if they wouldn’t have disallowed him from competing
Maybe more tbh
Exactly!
And with the modern equipment, suits, nutritionists, etc I think a prime Kaz would be giving the top guys today a real run for the money
Pound for pound I think Kaz IS the strongest man to ever walk the planet!
He absolutely dominated everyone at the static events!
@@dragon81heart For modern day yes... I think no one is in the class of Kaz. But all time, I've got to give the WSM ever would have been Louis Cyr. If you don't know about him... look him up. Freak of nature, no PED's... just pure freaked out genetics.
@@dragon81heart
He's strong in his era, the talent pool was smaller with mainly Americans back then. They're from all over the world in WSM now.
@@daniel213141
Bill Kazmaier at his peak was strong as fuck even compared to modern athletes. Few men have achieved a powerlifting total that high. If prime Bill Kazmaier competed today, he would definately be able to win. Only reason he and other athletes of that time didn't overhead press as much or lift as heavy stones as modern athletes is because they didn't do as much dedicated strongman training back then.
Knew Kaz was toast as soon as he started. High shoulders, protracted scapulas, and allowing the pillars to pull him apart is no good. Magnus on the other hand had his shoulders down, retracted scapulas, and was pulling the pillars in to him. Good show of understanding and skill on his part.
Magnus had the advantage of having done this event back in his competitive days. I don't think the Hercules Hold had been invented yet in Kaz's time.
He has frozen shoulders for years wtf u talking about kid? He held that shit broken to pieces and being a senior citizen, he did good.
@@bdegrds He got hurt is what he did.
Kaz has always been more about brute force.... Magnus was more technical
Yep, Magnus was always a technical wizard.
Nothing but respect for those guys.
How can anyone dislike this?!
Nobody expected anything from Magnus and he blew everybody's mind. His performance was incredibly inspirational.
This was amazing to witness. Wow
All those nights up late searching 80s and 90s WSM comps! Two hero’s
This was emotional to watch. Love Kaz. The will is strong! Even to stand up there. So much pressure. So brave to not back out.
Those faces they pulled. I didn’t think I’d ever see that again! Amazing
They looked like their younger selves
Jon Paul sigmarson up there looking down giving Icelandic POWER to Magnesson.
Bill was a legend of his time.. he was soo strong that he was prevented to compete in his prime for being too dominating in the sport
Bill is such a beast! In my humble opinion, he's been able to tap into his rage as a source of motivation better than any other strongman I've seen at least. Such a joy to watch the man work
Really felt bad for Bill Kazmaier, I hope he really didn't feel some kind of impact in his mind after this.
Hes like 10 years older id say hes still one of the greatest
No way! No real champ would ever let that affect them mentally. And the Kaz is a real champ. He accepts that time runs its course. Even on the once invincible. He's a legend!!!
hes 65 years old still looks great still huge and still strong hes got nothing to be ashamed about!
Nah. He’s a smart guy. He just needed practice on the implements. 65 yrs old and held them for any amount of time over 20secs. Lol
Vic Diesel no he doesn’t bill has an ego the size of Everest .
When he takes his shirt off he is solid muscle at 65 . Damn
Incredible dedication. And drugs.

MvM has always been favorite. I remember Kaz was hosting WSM then. His hands made the microphone look like a popsicle stick
It’s good to see two living legends give it one last go at a strong man feat.
Avoiding injury is almost as important as being strong in this sport.
I started watching strongman last year and in every contest I've seen the podium has been affected by an injury.
Which is why i think eddie is borked

This kind of event was Magnus's thing. He was never the biggest guy, but his stamina was freaking unreal.
Mental strength and Stamina. This was his thing yes.
He was perfectly proportioned. Everything was the exact length it should be to be GREAT SON OF GREAT!

Magnus Ver still showing it's as much about technique as brute strength. What a legend. Would love to see what time he'd get at the full weight.
