Nope, installing windows from USB, always will be fast. This is just a facility to install Windows in multiple PCs over network. Like if have 100 or 200 pcs site, then you have to use USB 100 or 200 times, which is headache for any IT guy.
Yes, it was used, one system is connected via Lan cable which was a Desktop and another system was connected via wifi which was a laptop. It doesn't matter if they are in the same network.
