Hello Peter, how do you mean by "a total commitment to Self"? I took it that a key Buddhist observation of the nature of things was anatman -- that of no-Self
@@horsymandias-ur true, I’m mixing languages. Self with a capital s is used in the Vedic literature, the upanishads, to refer to God/Source/Brahma. It is the Self that is unified, whole, and universal beyond the “separate self” of human ego consciousness. That which is beyond dualistic distinctions but is not separate. Therefore is subjectively realized as Self, that which I Am.

Forgive my bluntness but I suspect that the doctrine of an-atman would entail denying the fundamental existence even of something like Brahman (which I've frequently heard to be equivalent with Atman) or Purusha. Buddhism (at least Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism) does not deny the reality of any of the Gods; it simply states that their reality is not fundamental since everything arises co-dependently and is characterized by sunyata (emptiness). For the Buddhist, I think the only ultimate truth is that there is no ultimate truth (even emptiness is empty). Maybe this concept is not helpful and is best left ignored. Sorry if I come off as overly lecture-y, perhaps this is all redundant, i just wish to share some food for thought concerning where I believe the Vedic tradition differs from the Buddhist.

I'm a nursing student and constantly looking for soundtracks to concentrate/study to. I've listened to soft techno, all different sound waves and even tried tracks designated for focusing but nothing compares to this. I got half of a 13 page worksheet done in an hour...the whole thing usually takes me a week...so grateful for this, keep making tunes, this is magic!

A question, please. Did the recording combine digital sound and natural percussion sounds combined, or are all the elements digitally produced? Such good sounds!
@@davidstowell6462 Thanks! The recording combines natural and sampled percussion. For the natural percussion recording, I did not use very expensive equipment, but rather a cheap Behringer condenser microphone with a direct input to a MOTU M2 audio interface. The sound is cheap as it is, but thanks to the excellent plug-ins in Logic Pro, which I use in my DAW, I was able to create a sound that I am rather satisfied with.
Congratulations on this 'back-to-the-roots' album of Classical Ambient Music. Your music is very individual but I hear many echoes of Brian Eno, Terry Riley, Jon Hassell, Robert Fripp and others. It's clear you respect your ancestors. 🙂

(I used to work as a graphic designer as well) In some cases, I'm thinking of crowdfunding the cost of pressing the CD for this album.

This is fantastic. I am very interested in Buddhism and ambient music. I think they are similar in ways that are hard to describe. Buddhist meditation and Ambient music seem to direct the mind in a similar way. To a more calm, peaceful state of mind.

I like many genres of music and have made many different types of music, but in the end, ambient music is what I felt most comfortable with. At the same time, I realized that meditation is an everyday activity. For me, making music is meditation.

Thank you! I started my career in the 90's in a club jazz unit, but due to various reasons I despaired of the commercial music industry. I retired from music production for a while, but my subconscious wouldn't allow it. It took me a long time to get back into music production due to all kinds of obstacles, but I am just now getting back into it. I will be operating vigorously from now on!

The basic parts of the Ambient Buddhism tracks are produced in a modern style with synthesizers, but all of them are produced with multiple recordings of improvised performances. Therefore, it is music that is impossible to reproduce live later. I hope you will love this piece for a long time.

I am so glad you listened and commented. Yes, this music is not only bright but also built with dark sounds. Many songs in new age music have a bright atmosphere, but I composed this music with the intention of sounding the rigorous part of Buddha's teachings as well. But I hope listeners will be able to listen to it easily. It is the kind of music that works on your subconscious while you are listening to it.

Thank you very much for your very nice comment! The basic parts of the Ambient Buddhism tracks are produced in a modern style with synthesizers, but all of them are produced with multiple recordings of improvised performances. Therefore, it is music that is impossible to reproduce live later.

I am so glad you listened and commented. Yes, this music is not only bright but also built with dark sounds. Many songs in new age music have a bright atmosphere, but I composed this music with the intention of sounding the rigorous part of Buddha's teachings as well.
But I hope listeners will be able to listen to it easily. It is the kind of music that works on your subconscious while you are listening to it.
@@takeosuzuki_electronic yep, that's what I felt, it's awesome. I practice Kabbalah and Demonolatry, these sounds are perfect for certain workings, and for creating the right atmosphere.
