I wish they'd add qualifying laps for the single player races so that you're not slotted in the same position every single time. I seem to remember that being an option on an older version but that was years ago.
Let's see, I'm going to say the real reason why many of us are against the permanent connection, especially when saving the game, the main reason is due to the fact that the day the servers close, It will not be possible to play EVER AGAIN and it will not be more than a paperweight
Yes! Agree with you. You can still play gt6 even tho servers are closed because it didn't save on servers. If they close gt sport servers, your game (and money you spend on it are gone)
I do believe GT7's progress is way beyond the skeptics expectations, as there's still some content holding back in GTS era and most of the GT7 content is already done in GTS, only concern is if PD is really generous that putting more contents than we've expected for.
I dont know about that, I've owned all the GT games and some in the past have delayed it due to lack of content. Kazunori has said in his interview with playstation that 1 car takes about 1 month to render. And with GT5, they released the game with only a certain amount of "premium cars" GT 1, 2, and 3 were great bc they kept adding more features, but after that they went a different direction. GT sport, you have to race for milage to upgrade your car for example. For a real simulation game that doesn't make sense.
@@gvue4396 What you've said doesn't mean anything for my statements though, GT7 is yet another "tock" step for the GT lineage, it's rather reasonable to see shorter development time, with several new elements upgrade from the "tick" step, even if you've mentioned modeling a car needs a month of time, there's still some cars out there had been modeled years ago and not released on GTS yet, just consider the factors above Mar 4 release date is quite reliable, unless there's something unexpected coming at the final stage of the testing period, or PDI is still severely lagging behind of what they had planned.
The biggest concern is the always online single player because no matter how good this game will be it will not be very functional once the servers shut down even if you have good internet. In GT Sport's case it was justified because it was an online oriented tittle. In GT7 is not justified because, as they said, is a single player oriented game therefore it does not make sense to take measures about ''save scumming'' because if I paid money it is mine and I can do whatever I want to my own game. Save scumming in single player does not harm other players so I should be able to cheat if I want because it is my game. In online it makes sense, in single player it does not. As others have said it is probably a DRM tactic more than it is about save scumming and we will probably see it in other games in the future.
Almost nobody plays on consoles when they are offline, most of them when there is no internet, they play with their cell phone and also I would only complain if it were a portable console, calm down pls
@@Cowwithsmoothie_shellracing It is all about the longevity of the game after the online support has ended my guy. Why do people still play GT2, GT4, and GT5/6? Just stating the obvious long term issue.
My main concern for online saving in GT7 is if you'll still be able to play the single player part of it, after the servers for the game shut down. The servers for GT5 & 6 may be down, but you can still at least play through the single player modes.
@@zzirfamo24 What if GT7's single player mode is the best it's ever been, and I want to go back to it? What if I don't have an internet connection and want to play through the single player modes? I'm playing through GT4 with an emulator, and I have none of these issues because.. it has no server in the first place. It's a game that is years old, but it's still a damn good game. If Gran Turismo 7 really is the amazing game that deserves all the hype it's getting, it would be a massive shame not to preserve it. Preservation is why emulation exists and why I can still play Gran Turismo 4. Final point is, what if the Gran Turismo that comes out after that absolutely sucks? Then what do you do, go back to GT7?
@@nath1606 I see your point now, i just saw a lot of comments talking abt this when it’s been years since this even came out. The next game won’t be here for awhile, But if the next game is bad I would wanna be able to come back so your right!
The limit on players for online races is my biggest concern. So many wanted the possibility of multi-cass races, and generally packed lobbies... But both those things are a fart in the wind with a limit on players.
@@jadenr3833 yea but there is still going to be a online mode where you can race against people online it would be better if you could fit more ppl like he said!!
People are overreacting about GT7 being cross-gen. Let's be real, we all know dev cycle of PD: 2 GTs per generation. PS4 has only one (unless you think of Sport as Prologue type of game, than 0). GT7 probably was in development as PS4 exclusive, but it took so long that PS5 has arrived. Sony and PD had learned their lesson with GT6, to not release previous gen exclusive, and with PS5 architecture being very similar to PS4, porting was easy. We've been fed the "PS5 exclusive" story to boost aforementioned console sales, and "GT7 is coming to PS4!" story to make Sony look like merciful company that cares about those who couldn't get PS5. That makes people think that GT7 was primary developed for next-gen with PS4 being afterthought, but in reality is other way around. But that just my theory.
I agree , gt7 meant to be for the ps4 release .gts was only a prologue to 7. Its nice that they are able to release it for ps5 as well . Maybe it would take then another 5 years do develop a next gen gran turismo for the ps5.
It's really possible that they were making it on ps4 earlier and then ps5 came into talks and then they decided put it on both. I can see that being highly possible, i do believe the game is using sports engine at the core and they tweaked the game on an engine level to then do things on ps5 that they couldnt on ps4, but still keep it at a level that it can at least be like sports graphics and framerate on ps4.
U said it absolutely right of my mind..GT7 should have been a ps4 only game..development took so long they decided to do a ps5 version..plus ONLY 1 GT title with over 120million ps4s worldwide..ps4 still a capable console..plenty of life until 2025
The problem with online only Is not about connection quality of why we complain Is about don't really buying a game and renting it GT5 and GT6 servers turned down, it didn't matter really, because we still can play those games With GT7 and it's full online gameplay, once the servers shut down, what are we gonna play? You understand us now and our complains?
I’m pretty sure if that happens the devs will just update the game to be fully working offline, there is no reason to not do that and probably it’s pretty easy to do too
@@kristof910k if so Why they didn't in first place? Knowing GTsport was one the the least selling games of all GT because of that reason Why would they make the same mistake that cost them a lot of $$$ But this time by will?
@@mewtwo.150 No moddinng so online game is fair because the SP and MP progression system is connected, GT7 will have everything what Sport has, also probably for the cross gen saving, so you can’t overwrite one progress to an other, you can just continue playing on whatever system u prefer because it’s in the cloud, also people forget one important fact for those who don’t have a Plus membership like I do I don’t have to pay to save my progress to the cloud at all, that’s a bonus for me personally
Well I'm excited because I've seen the Penzoil nismo that was my favorite car growing up with the series I cannot wait for them to bring back nitrous I hope that's a feature they're gonna bring back And I hope they bring back the feature where you can let the AI drive your car in the race and you can tell it to push back off or pit that was a great feature for the long endurance races
I remember playing GT Sport for the first time and then I played the single player career. When I saw they put Clubman cup, FF challenge, etc, I just felt like that was a slap in the face being a game that wasn't traditional to it's name. I am not a fan of the online saving too since I live out in the country and my wifi can suck at times, but it will put up with it most of the time.
But psn store states the game can be played online optional. We got a chance of playing it offline. And the creator said he wanted gt7 to be more offline based. It also shows 2 player is supported on psn store. You can have a check yourself. I hope it is offline.
@@Greatnessamongwyatt I think it's arcade mode, but I'm going full optimist here saying it's still going to be a good game regardless, even though offline functionality would be very good.
As much as I agree with most of your thoughts and concerns, and besides the fact that I’m still excited for GT7, you’re perspective on the franchise becoming more arcade-like is flawed. The natural progression of racing games, in general, has been to become more realistic in more ways than one. Be it graphics, physics, sound design or so on, the idea was to improve on these aspects with each iteration of the game. This also applies to any type of game really but doubly so for stuff like racing games and simulators. The idea of PoDi backpedaling on physics is concerning, and I fear that if it goes too far it will begin to alienate the part of the player base that are looking for “the real driving simulator”.
@@kak8895 This franchise has been a huge part of my life. It’s shaped my interests both in gaming and the real world. I don’t want Gran Turismo to become a full on simulator like ACC or rFactor. I do not think, however, that should mean Polyphony should stop making strives in pushing what a racing game can be capable of.
Totally agree my friend. I want GT 7 for offline fun and all that but mainly in interested in an advancement of GT sport online racing, better physics and FFb and of course more, more, more realism in simulation. I want this to be the industry standard but it's certainly not going to be this time around...
The leap to become an Assetto Corsa is huge. I don't think GT can ever be as realistic. And I'm not hoping it does. They may be "the real driving simulator" the way the physics work is far from being real. At best real-ish. And that's fine. That's what makes it fun and enjoyable. That's what makes it a Gran Turismo and why we love the series so much. That "almost real but still a game" feel. Let's hope it never changes. I absolutely love to play AC. It's by far my favorite driving experience. But Gran Turismo puts another type of smile on my face. It's fun and I get a whiff of nostalgia too. I don't need it to be super realistic to enjoy it. I enjoy many type of racing games. I own about a hundred racing games from all eras and I enjoy them a lot, be it Outrun on Master System, Lotus II on Megadrive, Auto Modellista or Enthusia on PS2 or Assetto Corsa Competizione on my Series X. Gran turismo is Gran Turismo and that's what I'm asking of it. To be just that. I love that IP and I hope it will be as good as it was in the golden years of GT4🔥
After hearing the audio, after seeing the DRM. After seeing no significant increase in graphics. It being on ps4. I'm worried about it nor being good. Yes
Personally I didn’t like the gt sport physics. However, I think it was a good move from pd here’s why. 1. It was exploring a new aspect of gaming as the previous games have done. 2. It wasn’t actually a proper gran Turismo it was ‘sport’ not prologue or decimal number. It was a game that was built to explore the concept of sim racing as a ‘sport’ and is was incredibly successful at that goal. So it wasn’t what most fans were expecting but it was a good game. PD was never aiming for the same audience and I think that’s a good thing. I’m sure many of those new customers will follow through onto gt7 and becom investmed in the series and it’s homage to cars and racing. PD judged the shift to realism and realist a) they could make a s***t tonne of money b) they could inspire a new generation with the watered down magic of gran turismo to show them the awesome car culture we have beyond just everyone driving gt3 cars in iracing etc and c) they could pave the way for sim racing esports to fester into a massive thing so it wasn’t just about them it was about being able to develop a cultural acceptance of pro esport racing. This is just what I read it as it’s probs all wrong. Have a nice day.
GT7 will have a refined version of the GT Sport physics engine. The intention is to make the driving experience more natural and real to life. Kaz is not talking about dumbing down the physics.
For me the thing about GT has been (nostalgia, and) car collecting and tuning. Done in a stunning environment that the game provides. It was fun when I was a kid and used mainly a controller, or in the latter stages I got a Logitech wheel controller with no force feedback, but just a spring interpretating to be one. Then it was fun and there is still many fun hours to be had with that. Still, nowdays I find the joy in the feeling of physics. In a game like Assetto Corsa the cars just feels right. In a game like Dirt 2.0 there is an immense feeling of speed when pushing the car in a narrow gravel road midst a forest. But in GT, there is really no thrill in the diving. I can drive a Ferrari road car and feel like I am driving a Fiat Punto. There is no sense of speed and thrill. That is why I am a bit of concerned about the fact that they make the game more accessable, if the sense of speed is still lacking. I am not a hardcore sim racer. I am not awful either. I have no interest in practicing for esports and my priority is not 100% physical realism, but the feel of driving has been lacking in recent GT games. I hope that the next game fixes that. But as you mentioned that GT sport has been improved recently, I just put the game to download to try it after about 2,5 years. Lets see if there is any improvement to my liking. Despite the issue, I am quite certain that I will sooner or later buy GT 7. It is just if I will use it mainly for driving, or for the other ways of entertainment. I did enjoy very much the livery editor and scapes of GT sport too. I made myself a background for my PS4 using that and I don't like that PS5 does not support custom backgrounds, because I would use one for that too. Oh, this turned to be a long comment...
On psn it states that the game is online optional, which meane they have listened to us players who love offline. It states it has two players on the psn store also. I hate the idea of having to constantly be connected to online just to save and play compaign online, where i can just play it offline. I will only go online to download liveries and photos and compete in races with other players
The biggest problem with it being a cross-gen product is that it can't reach its full potential in a couple of areas and those are driving physics, AI and grid size. PS5 has a way faster CPU in it than the one in PS4. And it's confirmed it's crossplay between the two meaning the physics and grid sizes have to be the same on both. There's no question that PS4 will hold the PS5 version back. I just hope GT8 will be released couple of years later and will be PS5 only game.
"I just hope GT8 will be released couple of years later and will be PS5 only game." bruh hell no. let gt8 be on ps6 instead, I dont wanna be cluttered with more than one copies and going back n forth like the forzas from xbpne era, that shits a nightmare and a pain. I just want one big game ffs! isnt that why the ps5 was invented any way?!? to have games more disk space storage?
If there's anything about GT Sport that I can appreciate its the presentation, which is top-notch and what you could always expect from PD. Aside from that, I don't care enough about ESports to really want to follow it. The first Gran Turismo was what really got me into a lot of the JDM cars, that would become popular a few years later, and a bit of Japanese Motorsports. GT Auto, finding the hidden gems in the used-car dealership are what always made GT fun to me when you really got into the depths. Gt7 sounds like it's going to be a return to that form and I'm beyond excited for it.
I think my main concerns regarding the crossgen issue is the effect that may have on AI in single player, and the number of cars on track in multiplayer. Will they have enhanced single player AI on the PS5 due to the extra computing power, or will they need to simplify it somewhat to account for the now 8 year old PS4. With multiplayer, it would be nice to see some multi class races etc, but how many cars are going to be able to be on track? We know how many GT Sport can handle, is it the same in GT7 or will this need to be reduced to account for the PS4?
You’ll not convince me that they didn’t scale back the number of cars on track for the ps5 in order to allow cross platform play with ps4. My issue with the online saves is what happens when they shut the servers down? Does the game become unplayable? I still go back to my older gran turismos for nostalgia. I’m not paying for a game with an expiration date. This didn’t bother me with GT Sport because I bought that game for online play.
There is hope for VR from what I have read from the developers & Sony there is hope. Rumour has it Sony would like all AAA games to be VR comparable. I think the VR content may be announced when the PSVR 2 is revealed and added to GT7 maybe as an update most probably on the PS5 only. The problem with this is 1. it may not happen till mid to end 2022. (I hope I am wrong) 2. PS5 plus PSVR2 combined could almost be close to the price of a VR ready gaming PC which costs say £1300/ $1400. 3. Cost of GT Sport £59 PS4 / PS5 £69 on PC an older racing VR title like Project Cars 2/3 is under £20 and u can have it now! Plus many more great titles. I love GT Sport the VR mode limited but still great fun and a wasted opportunity it could have had a simple lap time ranking system and racing a single cost car. Right enough from me I bet no one readys my crazy old guy thoughts this far 😂
Physics can be scaleable to appease everyone. As early as GT3, PD already provided an option for Standard gameplay and professional gameplay. Of course, professional-mode in those days are nowhere near full-blown sims are these days. But if the physics engine is scalable, then things like track temperature, tire-pressures etc. turns on while all driver aids switch off when selecting professional mode. And then in the standard mode, you get the option to tweak the driver aids to your liking, and no longer have to deal with deciding how much pressure to put in the tires and what not. If gamers had the choice, completionists will use Standard physics to 100% the game, then switch to professional to experience the full-blown sim. At least, that's a concept that PD can explore eventually to balance producing a fun game whilst living up to their tag line as "The Real Driving Simulator".
I would think the concern with the the game being cross generational is the anemic CPU. Graphics are pretty scalable, unlikely to be held back by the old PS4. Like ACC struggling with the XBox One and PS4 because of the advanced phyics models, that would mean there is little chance of upgrades there. Anyone who has played ACC on console versus PC will understand the massive difference between the two. You did mention the physics being more forgiving, which I hadn't heard before, so that would make upgrading physics a moot point. Especially if the aim is to allow controller to be competitive. However, the anemic cpu of the PS4 affect more than that. Already you see limits of 16 on racing lobbies. So that rules out larger lobbies. Also AI. How good will the AI be able to be to make the single player races fun on such old architecture? So you are looking at potentially simplified physics (intentional it sounds like), small lobbies, and likely simple robotic like AI. Either way, GT7 looks like it would be fun, and I might even get a PS4 or PS5 to play it, since unlike the new Forza, I won't be able to play it on PC. It will be interesting to see how GT7 vs FM plays out. Forza is upgrading it's physics to be more realistic going the opposite direction with that.
There was a time when Kaz planned on having GT Sport as the second generation of Gran Turismo, and there will be no more numbers in the series. Did they change Trial Mountain and High Speed Ring because of FIA, now that 7 won’t prioritise on esport, was that necessary?
The way I see it, GTS was the GT5P of the PS4: minimum viable product for the game engine. GT7 looks like it's a PS4 game, an extension of the GTS engine with a lot more content, and all you'll get on the PS5 will be faster loading (don't knock it) and ray traced graphics. Look for a GT8 Sport with a new game engine developed for the PS5 only, in 3-4 years.
I’ve only seen the GTPlanet interview where Kaz said physics would be more ”natural”. Doesn’t that mean more realistic? 🤔 Does anyone know where he said it would be more accessible/forgiving?
I’m honestly hoping it’s not too forgiving because GTS was already forgiving enough. I like the idea that I can actually spin out, or be caught out by a bump on a track
Been a GT fan since GT2, actually found myself going back to replay GT6 after the GT7 trailer dropped as it seems to be more of a true sequel than GT Sport (which I don't mind but didn't enjoy or spend as much time as the other GT games). I want to buy a PS5 one day and have been waiting for both availability and compelling games to prompt me - GT7 might be that game :)
The online save thing I would switch to offline for the GT Story mode. I really think that the GT Sport side of GT7 should of been it's own entity like Arcade mode. It would be very bad for the game's "after-life", when they stopped updating the game at some point and decided to shut the servers down with no playability anymore besides Arcade. Every GT Story mode of Gran Turismo has been offline useable. Even when GT and GT6 servers shut down, GT mode has been still accessable to this day.
5:55 absolutely, I remember one time a article I was reading used a photo of a Mclaren as they were talking about the sale of the technology center, and I instantly recognized it was from gran Turismo. Pretty sure it was an orange 650s in one of the uk scapes and it made my day. My Home Screen on my phone is also of pictures I took on GT sport. And most people I know assumed they were real pictures lol.
Great video and information. I am one of those who is very grateful that this title will be for the PS4. I’ve yet to switch to the new console and probably won’t for a while. Even if the PS4 version is watered down a bit I don’t mind at all, we get GT7!
My only question/concern is that I am wondering how far the Car Lineup expansion is going to go. There are many cars that I loved in the GT4 days when I was young that I'd love to see return to 7. But many are obscure or obsolete due to newer or more popular models in the family (Ex. Silvia S14, but the 13 and 15 are confirmed.) My query is down to not being sure how many cars will end up in Gt7. Will it be just a small amount higher than GTS, or will it be comparable to the GT4 days or even more than that? GT to Me was always defined by the sheer number of available cars, with GT2 allegedly having 650, GT4 having 740, and GT6 having "2000" but still well over 1000 Unique models. Will GT7 have like 400 and barely exceed GTS? Or will we unexpectedly have a game with 1000 cars again?
i love the way GT Sport physics work though, i hope they come back because the cars feel crisp and real in the way they drive ive driven a e46 m3 before and i can say Sport just feels like your driving a real car especially with a steering wheel but it also feels great with a controller too
I think the PS4 version will be 1080 with 30fps and the PS4 Pro 1080 and 60fps. The PS5 4K and 60 fps. What is more important is the fact that when I begin to play GT7 on my PS4 I can play further on the PS5 with my save file. I am not so much exited than before because GT Sport has let me down in the beginning. But I hope GT7 will be a successful title and a great GT title.
With all the information we have I am very hopeful for GT7. However, with that being said I do have my doubts also. I didn't see a few original tracks that I like in the trailer like Grand Valley and Deep Forest, but I am hopeful they will be adding it to the game either at launch or added in as DLC. Also, I hope we get more cars that have been "Premium" in GT5/6 carried over to GT7. Im not really too concerned about the game being cross-gen since a lot of people can't get their hands on next gen.
I played GT Sport and whenever I don't update/go online there was nothing, absolutely nothing to do. I can do quick races and license tests but that's it? What about the classic Gran Turismo experience. In fact, GT Sport was the worst and my personal least favorite in the franchise because of the lack of a proper offline presence. I couldn't care less about the competitive online experience either so the cross gen thing doesn't concern me. To me Gran Turismo is a mix of a giant car list, a diverse campaign to use these cars in the list for and calming intro music GT Sport had only one of these and that's why I'm concerned for GT7
@@MRXPOfficial Yeah, that does kinda suck. I only hope that in 5-10 years or so, they will patch that out. If not, then I'm sure there will be another way around it with a mod
@@SuperSonicEmerald I don't know if GT6 is a horrible game. I think it's pretty great for a PS3 game. The only things I don't really like are the menu's and it's lacking a few options. Looks like GT7 has solved those issues so, no.
Wil the loss of support for gtsport (save games) end the use of single player too, making the game unplayable. As someone who still plays gt 4, 5, 6 and sport, this question would also effect gt7. I.m also wondering if the g29 will be compatable, not wishing to fork out for yet another wheel if buying the ps4 version.
i definetly am more hyped now that ive seen the 2nd trailer, after sseing the alfa155 v6 ti and the castro toms and the pennzoil gtr, damn i need that game
3:46 That right there should have you understand why online *only* saving is completely unacceptable. Imagine those of us who hardly get to play, and out one good play session gets ruined due to a clunky and *unnecessary* internet requirement. Or imagine those of us that have had to gone through economic hardship and had to sacrifice the internet bill (I've been there). In that case I was still able to play the games I already owned, but losing the ability to save would make the game essentially unplayable.
GT's sim level isn't enough to push the PS4 to its limits. Hell, Assetto Corsa's level of sim is something the PS4 is capable of. Which means the only major changes are going to be graphics and possibly sound. They may integrate the PS5s 3D sound technology.
With the game being online like sport, and cross generation, I would imagine it would be like sport in that you can access your game with either ps4 or ps5, which is very nice for those that have both systems and those that are hoping that one day soon? they will be getting a ps5. it also opens up a much broader multiplayer base and allows those with a ps5 to be able to race against family and friends that haven't been able to get a ps5 yet. Hopefully, they will have more daily races too. I never thought that the 3 races available in sport were enough!! definitely needs a few more options.
I'd love to be the older guy on stage.....lol. if not it's ok. I love this game, the challenge in being a top guy, I love. Thank you for what you do. ✌️
I recently purchased my dream car and driving it made me want to try sim racing. So I bought myself a force feedback wheel and pedal set GT Sport, WRC10, PC3, Dirt5 and Wreckfest on PS5 and have been having an absolute blast! ✨
I agree with you 99%. I came from gt1, missing only GTS. Strangely is the best sim, which I love faithful games, but I don't like race cars. I do like realistic games, and that they represent accurately the flaws and goods, and all detailing characteriscs, that make each car special, and how it performs compared to others. So if I've driven these cars live (I don't those top lines, but others more accessible sometimes), I would like to race them together in ways I would never do in real life. Everything else, I think you're on point. I don't own any PS4 or ps5, and I was thinking in getting a new ps5 with new wheel and the game when it was released, but now I'm thinking maybe PS4 pro at a discount might be better option, and spend more on a better more complete wheel. Thanks for sharing
Being a big GT fan, but not much of an online player, I'm really looking forward to GT7. So Glad they're bringing back the full blown solo play. GT Sport was the first game in the series that I didn't like as there was little to do outside of online racing.
I’m excited about GT7. And I have a theory for why the public comments from Kaz about the differences between the PS4/5 versions appear to be so close. We’ve not heard anything for a while about VR support for GT7, apart from old comments confirming VR will be in GT7. I love VR in GTS but it’s very limited to effectively offline single player Time Trial. I think, and absolutely pray, that the PS5 version will support online VR lobbies I think PD are keeping that as a big reveal closer to launch. What do you think?
I'm fine with the online save. However, a couple of days ago, all of my custom liveries were lost all of a sudden. And when I mean all of a sudden, it literally was all of a sudden. I do a new livery maybe once a week, and I was making one for a Mini. I clicked on new livery, and when I finished it, I saved it as normal, except that now I don't have any of the ones I have already made. Now, they do come up on my gallery, and on my profile, just not on my livery designer. Which is a little bit angering, but not that bad in the grand scheme of things. I just hope that sort of thing doesn't happen on GT7, since apparently is a relatively common issue for other players.
if they bundle it with a ps5 and a logitech wheel like they have in the past, that might convince me. not even sure if my ps3 boots up anymore so even gt5 is out of reach for the time being. cloud saves are a major concern though, i'd much rather be able to save locally.
HSG, What are you expecting the resolution to be on PS4/Pro and Ps5? Im unsure about PS5, but for GT7 to look nicer on PS4, im expecting it to take a hit on resolution. Maybe 1440p? And thats not a bad thing, 1440p looks clean.. ish and it might give back some performance for the small jump in visuals and or physics/Ai.
@@jorhop4005 In the trailer there was a Mazda 787b with gt3 cars, but that probably indicates multiclass racing thanks to the return of the pp system, not group c being gr3.
My biggest disappointment by far is the lack of Ray Tracing during gameplay, rumored to ONLY be in the replay and photo mode. Now, I ideally would like to see Ray Traced GI, but if it is going to be the Ray Traced Reflections, it should also be the Shadows as well. Without this being available during gameplay, it's a massive blow. I was really expecting Sony to truly show the ray tracing with GT7 and break that barrier... I do think that the fact that this title is to be cross-gen has actually affected this!
Than you for all your thoughts. I wonder if you purchase the anniversary edition and start on PS4 can you transfer your progress to your PS5? I got hooked on the game because of your ability to tune, upgrade, tracks and selection of cars. I’d get home and my friends would have sent me a gifted car or parts. I. Excited that I can use GT7 on my PS4 and when I can walk in a store and purchase a PS5 instead of getting ripped, I will do that.
I don't think the game being cross gen is going to be an issue at all. Graphically I think the only differences will be lighting, shadows, resolution and especially ray tracing as that is very hardware intensive. I think the graphical differences will be much less than people think they'll be, mainly due to how demanding ray tracing is.
im exited for gt 7 and i hope psvr 2 come out at same time and have full online lobby vr support. i miss saleen s7 car thats sad but no matter i love many cars in gt 7
I believe the physics in GT Sport is perfect. It's realism allows players to feel like they are actually driving a simulation. Polyphony has the best gamepad/ controller physics of any console game and they should NOT deviate from that in GRAN TURISMO 7. It's the "Real Driving Simulator". If they are going to make it more arcade its going to ruin the experience. The fact is we have enough arcade type racing games on console, Gran Turismo Sport is the only realistic driving game that actually feels good on gamepad/ controller. I tried Assetto Corsa on PS4 and Automobilista 2 on PC both on gamepad, and believe me compared to GT Sport, they are both UNPLAYBLE on gamepad. In those games the vehicles feel like they are driving on ice and have little to no contact with the road. Polyphony should stick with the realistic driving physics of GT Sport in Gran Turismo 7, do NOT throw that away it's perfect.
I do believe that the cross gen isn't as big of an issue as some are making out. You have to remember that poliphony are owned by PlayStation. They have come out and said they have been able to optimise it to a point you would struggle to tell the difference between the PS4 and ps5. The only thing that would be glaringly obvious are the load times and ray tracing in replay mode. That I'm not to sure on though
all i can say about the physics side is why not both realism and more game like play it's possible to do it with the games engine then players can make a simple choice i think there need to be that situation in all of these types of games to a real level not just stability control and the like that don't really feel great but a real effort for arcade type play and realism to boot it can be done and would increase the player base so why not do it if it sells more games i know there issues along the lines of online play but different lobby can take care of that it could be a simple game mode screen every time you load up the game with all the same content but different modes of online play and goal without a massive extra effect on the developers
1. Hopefully every player will have access to their country's name and flag showing up in online racing. 2. Hopefully rhey stop repeating cars for daily workout.
My issue is still the amount of players in privat lobbys. It's nice to see that we have dynamic daytime etc. but the crossplay part hold that back. Who on earth wants to race on the nürburgring with 15 people only?
It’s Gran Turismo, I’m never excited by those games. But Gran Turismo 7 got me interested enough to preorder. It was actually the livery editor that got me interested. In the absence of Driveclub, GT7 will do
I dont mind about the online save at all,I have brought it for ps4 and ps5 as I run charity laptime events at work so I will use the ps4 for that and keep the ps5 at home,im glad it's coming to both consoles and I still have friends that can't get a playstation 5 yet,I use both wheel and controller but really interested to see how close the new ps5 controller will be to a wheel with the new haptic feed back, will the feedback make you drive slower and will you be able to feel break fade and traction through the triggers
You know it's weird for me, I'd be happy if the game gets delayed or released on the promised date, cuz getting delayed means they get to work a bit more on the game and polish it, and if it gets released we get to play, so it's a win win for me
i just want them to add wheel rotation setting in the game menu so we can change it with wheel like g29 and other wheels in the future. cos gt support keep changing the wheel rotation depending on the cars all the time i hate it. i like the shortest wheel rotation on all cars. witch is 270 degree or maximum 540 degrees i just cant drive with 900 wheel rotation
I am looking forward to it. I prefer to collect and modify cars in GT. I do the races to feed that need. I hope the scope of cars in this next iteration of the game is large and would span many different eras. I plan on getting a PS5/GT7 bundle when it releases
I'm very interested what changes they will really make compared to gts. I only really play gt on playstation so like you mentioned i didnt like the switch up either to just plainly just e-sports centered. If it looks anything like gts tho on the ps4 ill be satisfied graphics wise.
My ONE concern is that I want the chance to go back to this game in 10 or 15 years time and still get the classic Gran Turismo experience, GT mode, an offline used car market, GT Auto etc. I want to be able to play more than just arcade mode long after the game losses support from Polyphony just like you can with GT5 and GT6
That said, I WANT to feel reassured that I can buy the 25th Anniversary Edition and be able to play it for as long as I have a PS4 or PS5 that still boots up and runs games, it would look good sitting next to my 15th Anniversary copy of GT6
I really don't like the fact of that grid size for online races is the same as gts and wish there some more tracks but I am none the less very excited for the game, will maybe tryna get the steelbook maybe since it includes a ps4 digital code
The reason why people are worried about the game being online only, is because of online servers not lasting forever. The online servers are gonna be shut down eventually, making the game unplayable in about 10 years (depending how long this game's life cycle is). And we're not sure if Polyphony is going to release a patch that makes the game playable offline once the servers are shut down for good.
Agree with most of your points, although on physics Kaz said more Natural Handling, so you could interpret that in different ways. Is it going to be full sim, no, but ithink more sim then your expecting On ,cross play it's great that the league players will still be able to stick together, but this has come at the costs to lobby sizes. I'm not a single player, player but I hope there's improved AI
I never got the PS4. I stuck with the PS3 and it got stolen a few years ago. My concern is whether or not I'd be fine with getting GT7 on PS4. I can't exactly afford a PS5, it costs nearly three times as much in my country and I'll only be able to afford one after I finish university and start working. So for now I think I should get a PS4 and get the PS5 in late 2022 or early 2023. Is it really necessary for me to get a PS5? If not is it necessary for me to get the PS4 Pro?
i would say spend an extra money for ps5 instead. PS5 has backwards compability since it can also support ps4 games. i think its a good decision since we should be able to buy ps5 in retail price by late 2022/early 2023 (fingers crossed)
@@aziackerman8985 when a full on Gran Turismo game releases, I genuinely hate the feeling of not being an early adopter. Even though it can be hell being an early adopter of a Gran Turismo game like when Gran Turismo 6 came out, I got it on the same day and I remember going through a really crappy experience up until version 1.14 I think, where the game got a lot better. So I guess it could be a good idea to wait it out, but I really miss gaming. I haven't had a console since 2016 and I recently got Gran Turismo 4 on an emulator and the experience is just not as fun as what it was when I was a little 6 year old... So I genuinely miss gaming.
Why didn't PD patch GTSport for Playstation 5 players? Haptics ect. When we were first told about Dual sense the example game used was ps4 game GTSport.
gt sport is mostly online game so you would expect when the servers go off the game will but gt7 will have a full campaign online is just 1 aspect if online disappeared from gt7 when servers go offline you would still have most of the game my only concern with online saves is for game preservation
Fantastic review...thanks! The only real thing that I love playing with GTSport is the livery editor. I love art & design, and with the game giving people like me the creative enjoyment on top of racing your dream car on Gran Turismo is just amazing. Then to top it off, being able to sit back with a beer and watch your work on the race track, surely must be the best thing ever? I'm sure many of those GT boffins might agree, because just look at the number of liveries created ever since GTSport came out? To add to your comment about buying a PS5, I have been thinking of a PS5 for a number of months, but apart from GT7, there isn't any game that I'm bothered about, so having GT7 on PS4 will be brilliant, and so what if its a bit slower? It's down to the gamer to decide if he/she wants one.
i hope the car upgrades dont cost as much as they do from what we seen in the trailer where a low rpm turbo charger costs almost a million credits in the semi racing category so god know how much parts will cost in racing and extreme seeing as the parts in sport category only cost a few hundred credits so unless we are going to earn a hell of alot more from credits from races just fully upgrading a car with semi racing parts would cost u millions
The cost you saw in the trailer are (most most probably) in Yen - the Japanese currency. I would presume the European/American credit system would be similar to GT5/6/Sport.
@@jimmyhoogland845 dont they use credits though not dollars or yen ect unless its just temp amounts and they will adjust before release as in trailer they had 700 million credits in total
@@spaceycakey1987 you're totally right though. However, I cannot think of any other reason other than what you're saying now, or its something to do with the currency. I think your guess makes more sense than mine haha. I hope in the end it'll be all similar to the cost of GT5/6
I am happy about GT7 being traditional, but I was also a big fan of GT sport, i think it works make sense to have gt7(obviously)but still add new tracks and cars to gt sport as a long term game.
I wish they'd add qualifying laps for the single player races so that you're not slotted in the same position every single time. I seem to remember that being an option on an older version but that was years ago.
GT6 had that.
I agree with adding qualifying that would be great to see and have in GT7
@@gerogyzurkov2259 GT4 had them for the championships too
Almost every gran turismo had qualifying. I remember doing the qualifying in gt1 since it gave extra credits
Just do a custom race and choose where you want to start
Let's see, I'm going to say the real reason why many of us are against the permanent connection, especially when saving the game, the main reason is due to the fact that the day the servers close, It will not be possible to play EVER AGAIN and it will not be more than a paperweight
EXACTLY!!!
Yes! Agree with you. You can still play gt6 even tho servers are closed because it didn't save on servers. If they close gt sport servers, your game (and money you spend on it are gone)
Bingo! The cynical me says that it’s been done on purpose so they can make the game obsolete at their discretion.
@@David-lr2vi 100% that's it dude. It's a scummy move, really
@@David-lr2vi That seems, or what is the same the day the game servers close, it will be unusable and will only serve as a paperweight/coaster
Yup. It mentally tries to force you to buy the next title of the series.
@@officialpennsyjoe probably in the last update of the game they remove the permanent connection
@@Cowwithsmoothie_shellracing I would hope so, because just Arcade mode would kill the game's long term life.
My main concern for online saving in GT7 is if you'll still be able to play the single player part of it, after the servers for the game shut down. The servers for GT5 & 6 may be down, but you can still at least play through the single player modes.
They don’t do that until a new games comes out?? So what your problem the game will be years old before they do that so!!

This is absolutely a beautiful theory mate! Spot on.
Agree with that theory. To be honest, that is how probably really happened
U said it absolutely right of my mind..GT7 should have been a ps4 only game..development took so long they decided to do a ps5 version..plus ONLY 1 GT title with over 120million ps4s worldwide..ps4 still a capable console..plenty of life until 2025
The problem with online only
Is not about connection quality of why we complain
Is about don't really buying a game and renting it
GT5 and GT6 servers turned down, it didn't matter really, because we still can play those games
With GT7 and it's full online gameplay, once the servers shut down, what are we gonna play?
You understand us now and our complains?
I’m pretty sure if that happens the devs will just update the game to be fully working offline, there is no reason to not do that and probably it’s pretty easy to do too
@@kristof910k if so

@@mewtwo.150 No moddinng so online game is fair because the SP and MP progression system is connected, GT7 will have everything what Sport has, also probably for the cross gen saving, so you can’t overwrite one progress to an other, you can just continue playing on whatever system u prefer because it’s in the cloud, also people forget one important fact for those who don’t have a Plus membership like I do I don’t have to pay to save my progress to the cloud at all, that’s a bonus for me personally
Then people will get an unlocked save game file and get everything. So it’s online I guess.

So 3 more days!! You ready?!
Gran turismo will never be a Simulator so don't waste your time. They'll always alienate that part of the fanbase.
@@Fantaloon You have a point. I'll also like to see them push it to the next level in Simulation.
Yes
I’m looking forward to seeing those fictional tracks returning
Specifically Apricot Hill
A good thing of the GT7 ps4 version is for someone who gets their dads ps4 when they get the ps5 so they can play the game still
I am the Daddy, ha!
+1 dude, i understand exactly what you mean
This is an issue for both online and single player, a disable cross play feature should be on to have bigger lobbies.
I just hope they add a virtual mirror for the bonnet/ hood cam.
After two months away from GT Sport I login in and realize all my replays are gone ! This only online one player mode really makes me angry
I was super hyped!!! But the 100% online gameplay and save

@@Cowwithsmoothie_shellracing what every GT fan want, arcade mode....
Why has nothing been said regarding the VR part of the game? I love racing in Vr and really looking forward to,playing the FULL game in Vr.
Well it is the Real Driving Simulator. You’re driving. Not racing.
Well you can race and drive. But it’s a driving simulator, so you drive.
Yup. Folks complain that ps4 may reduce it's potential.
I actually think it is just massively delayed for the ps4
Dont forget the PS5 controller is supposedly massively improved with haptic feedback. Supposed to be as quick as the wheel/pedal boys too!
i hope for special stage route tracks to come back
The classic mini would be an awesome car to have in the game, especially if there's a decent selection on body kits for it.
I know I'm a day late, but my main concern is online only save, apart from that, cross-gen has its pros and cons
I really do hope you bring the livery competition back
We'll see ;) ...
I have beena fan of gt since 4. Late starter as im 20 but grew up with all of them. Smacking game series and it is brilliantly well done!
And most people I know assumed they were real pictures lol.
lol
Great video and information. I am one of those who is very grateful that this title will be for the PS4. I’ve yet to switch to the new console and probably won’t for a while. Even if the PS4 version is watered down a bit I don’t mind at all, we get GT7!
My only question/concern is that I am wondering how far the Car Lineup expansion is going to go. There are many cars that I loved in the GT4 days when I was young that I'd love to see return to 7. But many are obscure or obsolete due to newer or more popular models in the family (Ex. Silvia S14, but the 13 and 15 are confirmed.)
My query is down to not being sure how many cars will end up in Gt7.
Will all modes be open in psvr.. 🤔
Driver San Francisco still has the best handling model of any arcade racing game I've ever played.
i love the way GT Sport physics work though, i hope they come back because the cars feel crisp and real in the way they drive ive driven a e46 m3 before and i can say Sport just feels like your driving a real car especially with a steering wheel but it also feels great with a controller too
FFB and physics in GTS is poor. Clearly way below assetto Corsa Competizione and assetto Corsa.
Im not really too concerned about the game being cross-gen since a lot of people can't get their hands on next gen.
are they seriously still fucking around with Premium and Standard quality cars? it's been ten years since GT5.
@@Drew.DrivesYT No there definitely won't be any standard cars in the game thats for sure
@@Livnos praise. still can't wait for this to finally drop though.
@@Drew.DrivesYT facts man! Me too
I played GT Sport and whenever I don't update/go online there was nothing, absolutely nothing to do.
To me Gran Turismo is a mix of a giant car list, a diverse campaign to use these cars in the list for and calming intro music
GT Sport had only one of these and that's why I'm concerned for GT7
Sadly gt7 pretty much requires online play. I miss when u didn't need internet for games
I completely agree with you, the only other thing that I want is a full VR career mode and I'll be the happiest man on earth.
@@MRXPOfficial Yeah, that does kinda suck. I only hope that in 5-10 years or so, they will patch that out. If not, then I'm sure there will be another way around it with a mod
@@azzy2001 do you think that GT7 will be a another horrible game like GT6?
@@SuperSonicEmerald I don't know if GT6 is a horrible game. I think it's pretty great for a PS3 game. The only things I don't really like are the menu's and it's lacking a few options.
Looks like GT7 has solved those issues so, no.
Wil the loss of support for gtsport (save games) end the use of single player too, making the game unplayable. As someone who still plays gt 4, 5, 6 and sport, this question would also effect gt7. I.m also wondering if the g29 will be compatable, not wishing to fork out for yet another wheel if buying the ps4 version.
Only one piece of information required, will VR be fully implemented, if not waste of time.
Can you run a sequential shifter on the ps5....if not , why not? G920 + shifter .
i definetly am more hyped now that ive seen the 2nd trailer, after sseing the alfa155 v6 ti and the castro toms and the pennzoil gtr, damn i need that game
It would be quite damn impressive if GT7 had the song "Drive Forever"
With the game being online like sport, and cross generation, I would imagine it would be like sport in that you can access your game with either ps4 or ps5, which is very nice for those that have both systems and those that are hoping that one day soon? they will be getting a ps5. it also opens up a much broader multiplayer base and allows those with a ps5 to be able to race against family and friends that haven't been able to get a ps5 yet. Hopefully, they will have more daily races too. I never thought that the 3 races available in sport were enough!! definitely needs a few more options.
I was just thinking how cool would it be if they added pikes peak 🤔 😅 😏
👍good idea, we had many pikes peak cars in the past, why not bring the track too
well said it ..now that i don't need to think about upgrading my ps4 to ps5 .. ima get this gt7 in my ps4
I have a PS4 I'm concerned that at one point they are going to stop updates on the PS4 as Rockstar did with GTA
imagine if we could do engine swaps and tune every little aspect of the engine like idle rpm for example🤔
Try iRacing for driving sim 👌
My only concerns are car physics and they look like they have downgraded the graphics since the first trailer reveal
No because are not the same track
I feel worried of the class system example group c being in gt3
And lack of having lack of the latest cars
When was group c in GT3 in Gran Turismo?
@@jorhop4005 In the trailer there was a Mazda 787b with gt3 cars, but that probably indicates multiclass racing thanks to the return of the pp system, not group c being gr3.
@@jorhop4005 I hope so thanks for the info
They should bring back reverse tracks like in gt4
I only complain that you need to have Internet connection. But Kaz promised, he PROMISED it that Gran Turismo 7 will be traditional.
I just hope the fact after that many recent factors around this game, coming out in the end as a positive.
all i can say about the physics side is why not both realism and more game like play it's possible to do it with the games engine then players can make a simple choice i think there need to be that situation in all of these types of games to a real level not just stability control and the like that don't really feel great but a real effort for arcade type play and realism to boot it can be done and would increase the player base so why not do it if it sells more games i know there issues along the lines of online play but different lobby can take care of that it could be a simple game mode screen every time you load up the game with all the same content but different modes of online play and goal without a massive extra effect on the developers
That is a common sense solution, I don't see it going more arcade.
It was my biggest disappointment was hoping for 30 player Lobby
One more benefit of cross generation is there will be a bigger pool of online players
I am hyped I want to build a Honda civic 9000 rpm++
Damage. Will there be actual damage, not locked behind a ridiculously high level cap?
I already bought the steel book lol
The reason why people are worried about the game being online only, is because of online servers not lasting forever. The online servers are gonna be shut down eventually, making the game unplayable in about 10 years (depending how long this game's life cycle is). And we're not sure if Polyphony is going to release a patch that makes the game playable offline once the servers are shut down for good.
Agree with most of your points, although on physics Kaz said more Natural Handling, so you could interpret that in different ways. Is it going to be full sim, no, but ithink more sim then your expecting
On ,cross play it's great that the league players will still be able to stick together, but this has come at the costs to lobby sizes.
I'm not a single player, player but I hope there's improved AI
Online save only is annoying when servers are down but apart from that I'm hard.
Wait until you can get a PS5 because it can play PS4 games too
@@aziackerman8985 when a full on Gran Turismo game releases, I genuinely hate the feeling of not being an early adopter.
@@CJr_M well then it cant be helped then...i think its good if u buy a ps4 pro rn and wait a few years to get a ps5
Why didn't PD patch GTSport for Playstation 5 players? Haptics ect. When we were first told about Dual sense the example game used was ps4 game GTSport.
gt sport is mostly online game so you would expect when the servers go off the game will but gt7 will have a full campaign online is just 1 aspect if online disappeared from gt7 when servers go offline you would still have most of the game my only concern with online saves is for game preservation
probably in the last update of the game they remove the permanent connection
