- In this #devlog, I discuss my very first game I ever published. It kickstarted my #gameDev career and has landed me currently self-employment - creating video games as a solo #indieDev.

Very interesting strategy, focusing more on the publishing part rather than the game making part, it's certainly a very important thing to learn!
Ahh yes, the old box full of cords you'll never actually need, but why not keep them around because "what if". Cheers!
What if you and Thomas did a podcast.. and called it Scope Creepers. And uploaded the videos to this channel ;)
Hahaha
Yeah, you bring it good on the point! Develop a Game is one thing. Publish and market it, that's a way more difficult and challenging thing with lots of stuff you can't expect before 🙂
I prepared many marketing stuff before I published my game on Steam and just realized okay, most of that was not really good to use and I needed to rebuild it. Especially in making a trailer and page description you have a good indicator how attractive your game is. Personally I missed to use this possibility :-D but for game no.2 there will the thing go different :-D
Hey man. Im learning unity and so far have a grasp on the whole position, rotation and collider gist of things. I just wanted to say thank you bro, for real 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I keep hearing start small start small. But i have no idea what small is, considering all the Ideas I have are AAA open world types of games. But looking at your first game, I think I am going to try and re-create that game on my own. Its got so much value.
0 - Game mechanics and level design
1 - Menu
2 - loading screen
3 - sounds
4 - particle systems
things that all games must have. I think, Ill even make a devlog on this. Will tag you once its done.
I think i can do all that with the current knowledge I have plus a bit of extra googling. This video is definitely heaven sent ✊✊🙌🙌🙌🙌 You rock Gee. Thanks 🔥🔥
Super good advice! Been doing monthly game jams for this reason and planning on shipping a small Playdate game as my first commercial game later this year
Very insightful. I am tempting fate by... not taking your advice 😅(at least currently). I have been considering taking a detour to do a "super simple" game (something like the one you showed) including publishing just to get that experience out of the way. This video is solidifying that idea. Thanks!
Great video as always 👍 The only "commercial" game I have fully published from start to finish, on the app store, was a Wordle clone and it actually earnt me a decent chunk of change and I still play it from to time on my phone if I have no signal and I'm waiting around haha.
Thnx for these tips
how many whishlist did you get on your island game.. i am curious to know.. i am also an indie dev
I couldnt even pay attention to anything you were saying because I was stuck staring at the little white thing hanging off of your beard infront of your mouth the whole time.
Hahahaha that’s the last time I drink coffee while recording
me too ahahahh
