You were doing a great job until you painted the inside of the fire box. Never paint the inside of the fire box. Even Weber doesn't do that when they build the grill. The high temp grill paint is only designed to paint the outside of the box, not the inside. First, the paint won't hold up, but far more important is that the paint can chemically taint the food which is also inside the fire box. Other than that (and of course the vertical video format) you made a great restoration video. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Kind of agree here. I cringed when I saw him doing that.

Yup I just did a restoration on a e210 and I only painted the outside of the firebix. I used a grinder with a steel brush wheel to give it that polished look on the inside and only on the portion above the grates that's visible. He did a good job minus painting the inside of the firebox

Even painting the outside is a mistake, it gets way too hot.

    • @eddiegonzalez9924

@@JS-cg3ir I've used it three times now and it's held up fine. The paint is Rust-Oleum high heat and resists up to 1200 degrees the hottest it gets inside the fire box is 600 for my e210, I think the paint will hold up just fine.

Have to agree. Paint takes a very long time to cure which is very different from the time it takes it to dry. Immediately, the uncured paint fumes are combining in the moisture and heat of the food on the grill in noticeable way. Then, over time the painted surface continues to degrade leaving a plume of deadly chemicals to marinate the food on a permanent basis. Other than that, great job! Lots of muscle and a few replacement parts makes this a keeper on a budget.

The great thing about theses Weber’s is you can get all the parts you need for a restoration at a fraction of the cost of buying a whole new grill. I restored my 12 year old Spirit. For less than $150 I’ve basically have a brand new grill.

Nice job on this. I have the same exact grill and just wanted to clean it up a bit and replace the burner tubes for the season. Now you've inspired me to do a full deep clean on it.

Nicely done! Just never, EVER, paint the inside of the cook box, as you don't want to consume chemicals.
    Now I have a new project: cleaning/restoring my Spirit E-320. :)
Thank you for the time you put into making this video.

I have the spirit classic mark1 with controller on the side. I got it from a friend and it really needs a totally restoration. Problem with it is the rosy especially the screws. Everything inside is non useful so it will be fun to do a restoration like yours 😀. Great video, more of that is great and link the product you used so we can find it online. Have a good one 👍👍👍

Just finished a reno of our Weber E-210 Spirit II grill with new burner tubes, heat deflector, grids, and flavorizer bars. It looks good and is back to full function with plenty of blue flame on each section. But this job makes ours look amateur in comparison. Wonderful work (except painting the interior box... YIKES!)

Has the paint held up inside or is it chipping off?

Good video. A lady down the street was throwing away a Weber Genesis S330 and I picked it up. I did almost everything you did. I have one question. My Weber has stains on the two doors that I can not get off. I think it's Stain Paint. Did you sand the side tables, I can't tell in the video. I might want to sand these doors but don't want to ruin it more. Any recommendations?

Great job, Eugenio! You inspired me to clean up my grill. I have the exact same model. I was in the process of looking for the replacement burner tubes and stumbled onto your video. Very nice of job of putting that grill back in service.

Hey man great video. Just being honest I wouldn’t of painted it either. It looks good though. Got one just like that at a yard sale for 25$. Only one question? Did you use steel wool? What number?

Looks amazing! I am not sure I would recommend painting the inside of the cooking tub, even with high heat paint. I imagine there are fumes that come off with heat even on BBQ paint. It is aluminum and won't rust, which should be your main concern with the BBQ tubs. I have only ever used BBQ paint on the outside of grills. Can you share your final costs on all of the parts?

Yes just use it at a 45 degree angle and after that use the brillo steel wool with dish soap to finish .Hope you get great results on your project.

What would you recommend for any rust on the base....

    • @Stuff7164
      @Stuff7164 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I have the same issue with my Spirit E-320. Rust is starting to bubble up the paint a bit. It's not that bad yet, but the rust-through WILL come at some point.
I know Weber sells every part for every grill, so I'll probably wind up replacing the base at some point.

With the new parts amounting to $150 or so, this isn’t a cheap grill. It looks great for sure. I would have restored the cast iron grates and saved $50+. I really like LA Awesome for $1 at Dollartree as a degreaser.
