As a Countach afficianado for over 35 years, I can tell you, I can easily spot a replica, even some of the better ones, but this thing is NEXT LEVEL, only give-away is the engine/exhaust note. Not that it sounds bad, it's great, you can tell it's a V8 but otherwise WOW! would love one.
That car cosmetically is perfect. The only thing letting it down like all countach replicas is it’s v8 engine. I don’t see why people don’t use a w140 s600 v12, they sound just like a Lamborghini v12 with the right headers and exhaust system. They also produce nearly the same bhp as a qv 402bhp, a fuel injected American spec qv produces 414bhp. The European spec carb qv produces 455bhp, but I’m sure with some tuning you can make it to that figure.
Size. Any V12 is going to be a squeeze. First you need to push the firewall forward so there goes your interior space and authentic look. Next is axle angles you have to push the transaxle rearward which creates unwanted half shaft angles. Then there is the issue of exhaust placement. It's going to be pushed rearwards too, so can't be as big, and will look wrong. A 180 degree exhaust system on the V8 will change the sound. I know all these things because I have one and have been down this track many times.
I can honestly say this is the most convincing 'replica', besides being an inch or two shorter (especially on the windows frames). Other than that can pass for the real version.
