Does equal lane length matter? //

- After measuring out the lane length of my #slotcar track today I discovered one lane is longer than the other. So my question is…
Does equal lane length matter?
I may have answered my own question in the video or will I just create another problem. Watch the video and let me know your thoughts.

Q: Does equal lane length matter?
You will always have faster lanes in your layout. The new changes on my 4 lane layout, I eliminated the bridge. This means that my outside lane is 96’ and my inside lane is 88’. This creates a challenge and some strategy during a race. I use to think it was important, but now I enjoy the difference.
@@twolinesslotcars so much great feedback, honestly think it was a moment of overthinking. Both lanes on this track are very fast, so yes it comes down to strategy. Thanks for watching and dropping your thoughts Marty 👏🏁
Mine is uneven on both my tracks but i dont care because I only race against myself 🤭😂 but rotating the drivers always make it even ...also even though some lanes have advantages the inside lanes are tighter leading to more deslots for unskilled drivers ...then you have the folk who realise without borders they can ride the barriers around an outside curve with skill and the right car .😊so many different situations 🤗 thenks for posting ....food for thought Bryce 🤙
@@SCALE_SLOTCARS_AND_RC great feedback Harry, appreciate it. Good points about the lane advantages. The Go barriers are not so friendly as cars get hung up in them, especially the F1’s. Thanks for comments man 👏🏁
@CasselRacing yes agreed on the go barriers Bryce 🤗
Good afternoon Bryce nice looking layout. Did a nice job on it. Look forward to your next video. Have a great day.🎉
@@AnthonyBatemanSr thanks so much Anthony, I appreciate the kind words 😊👏🏁
Hi from all my years of club racing on analog tracks, with analog if you hold your races and each person must rotate and race in each lane like how we do it you can make any track you like, That said with our track I made it exactly the same track length for both lanes and sure when you race it could be a little closer but even though both lanes are equal each lane has its plus and minuses just because of the shape so it's really not equal even though the lanes are the same length. I say race one heat in each lane rotate to next lane and race then add up total laps of drivers and the spots the cars ended up so if it's a tie the car further up on the track will be the winner and you will be fine. see our racing videos that's how we do it you can do timed heats in each lane or set a # of laps you need to go for each lane. Sorry for the book hope this helps.
@@BSslotcars excellent feedback Steve and yes I’ve watch many of your races with the format you run. Typically we try and rotate lanes, I’m so use to racing on the digital track, I’m probably overthinking this 😅 appreciate the book 😂
Here’s an idea to check the difference in your lanes. Take a controller and clamp it to get a constant speed, then use that same controller and car on each lane. This will show you the difference between each lane. 🤔
It’s what I’d do 👍
@@SewfastSpeedway dang that’s some smart thinking right there, thanks man!
The lap time difference of 12 inches would add up over the duration of a race. Just try doing a lap starting 12 inches behind the start line and see the difference. I'd aim for it to be as close to even as possible. My digital track has analog crossovers and digital crossovers to encourage lane changing.
@@AutismApostle yes I might adopt a staggered start and rotate lanes for equal racing. I think I just like the idea of equal lanes 😅
I had an uneven amount of crossovers on my track It took me way to long to figure out why only one controller worked. And why did I have a giant lane. Ya these things will trick you 😝
@@Mikeslittleshopofhobbies I made that mistake once but yes always have to have equal crossovers.
If you have a cross over in the right point so each car spends same distance on each side or if one side is a foot longer start the other car further back the distance will be based on how many laps you do think it would be easier to use cross overs though
@@theslotcarshack appreciate the feedback! I think they’re placed as best as possible without causing to much chaos or slowing the laps. A staggered start I believe will be best case scenario. Thanks for watching!
I only have two crossovers in my track. Mine are there for the purpose of making equal length lanes. I like cross over corner pieces because cars shouldn't be overtaking on corners anyway. Don't forget the fences on the outside of the track give the outside car an advantage. that car can slide out a bit and ride the fence to stay in the slot.
@@williamhumphreys4372 nice, how big of a track do you run? Ah yes the fences…Carrera Gonfences really live up to the name catch fence, the F1 cars get hung up in those. Thanks for the comment 👏🏁
Digital no....analogue no
I think it may be an OCD thing for me making it all equal 🤷♂️
@CasselRacing looks amazing tho lol
Sounds like you and Joe from Irreras Carrera need to have a heart to heart discussion, lol 😆
😂😂
@@thatslotcarguy thanks Trav 👏
nah, run that track, it looks real fun, just do best 2 out of three, swapping laps after first, and biggest lead chooses track for race 3?
@@simonescalici5302 thanks for watching, appreciate the feedback 👏🏁
Have two races. Each racer races each track. If each wins a race then overall winner is determined by best overall time on both tracks. So equal for both. Just a thought. Track looks great! 🫡
@@nobodyshome758 great feedback and like the idea of combined times. Appreciate the thoughts 👏🏁
