Thanks to @GeneratorReviews on the XP9000ih, I became part of the @Duromax family last year as part of hurricane season preparation. I had to use that generator with Milton and was very thankful to have it.
I watched your review on the Duromax XP4500iH. I was impressed with that generator. Especially the dual fuel capability. So I bought one. Great for around the house/property and back up power. I love it. A bit too heavy to just grab and throw in the back of the truck for camping, etc. So I picked up an XP2300iH. That one is easy to handle and great for travelling/camping. I don't have a big fancy coach like you do. But I still enjoy my luxuries out camping! ;) I really do think Duromax makes a great product. Never had any problems with any of mine. I take good care of them and baby them with oil changes and maint. This new one, the XP16000iH also looks impressive. Might pick one up to install in a generator shack for whole house emergency power. Very quiet. And in a properly designed and ventilated generator shack I bet extremely quiet! Thanks for all of your reviews. Always enjoy them.
I wish all TH-cam videos were as concise, thorough, to the point, and informative as yours. Just spot on exactly the info we are looking for. Great work and thanks a million for all you do to keep us educated!! I need your advice. It seems this invertor generator would have no problem powering our 2300 square foot house. 5 ton (14 seer) central A/C. Gas hot water so no needed power for that. We would monitor power usage for Dryer, and high draw stuff. Do you agree if we watch our usage, this generator would do the job? We live in Louisiana so need something to get us through hurricane power outages. Thanks in advance and you have a new subscriber!
Absolutely this generator would power at least two homes and with handle all your needs. Let me know when you’re ready to get one. You can get my number on my website. Call me.
Impressive! Approximately, how many square feet is your house? I've heard the soft starters may damage the main AC unit (home) in the long term, have you experienced any issues?
Out of all the generators you've gone though this size, which one do you personally recommend for 13KW to 18KW? I'm looking for reliability. Thanks for any input you provide.
Hi Gavin's Garage, I recently purchased the DUROMAX generator based on your excellent review, and I'm currently searching for the best professional to install it. Additionally, I own a Bluetti 500 Pro and I'm interested in using both the DUROMAX and Bluetti 500 Pro simultaneously to power my entire house during very hot summers. Your first video on the DUROMAX was a major influence in my decision to buy it. Could you provide any recommendations for a transfer switch that would work with this setup, and any advice on efficiently utilizing both power sources? Thanks for your invaluable guidance!
Gavin, can you switch fuel source without it cutting off? For example if I’m on a field doing a mobile dj show and my gas is running out can I hook up the propane and switch over without shutting down everything? On average how long are the run times for gas and propane at their respective power outputs ?
I haven’t tried switching from gas to propane or vice versa yet, but the XP16000iH, along with its 10.6 gallons fuel capacity, can run for around 10.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 1.01 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for around 3 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.57 GPH).
Thanx for the timely response, appreciate it. I have a sound and lighting company and I’m looking for solutions for small to mid size outdoor events for me to power my PA systems, etc and my biggest concern is how to fuel up without having to shutdown power to do so. I saw this inverter generator power your house and RV so I it could handle what I can throw at it but it’s the fueling situation that I’m trying to figure out just in case I’m at an event and need to refuel.
Gavin your channel is constantly improving. FYI bought one of the 50 amp meter boxes looking forward to receiving it via Amazon. Did you do a db test at say 10, 15 or 25 feet? Have you ever seen the Motorhead or Frankenstein genset that is powered by the Honda GX690? It looks like a complete beast. A little loud and at $6,500 it's pricey but it's a Honda Motor.
How can you route all 13000 continuous watts to your home panel. What good is a 1600 watt generator if you can only feed 12000 watts through a 50 amp plug?
Starting power is very important especially when you’re running the whole house and you have to start something like a microwave you need the starting power. Plus it’s 12,500 continuous but that doesn’t mean you can’t connect another 500 from the generator
Hello Gavin, this one is a beast! But I have a question for you. You've tested so many generators, each one comes new unused to you. What in your opinion is the best engine break in process. How many times would you replace break in oil until you finally added the regular engine oil? Thank you
If you don’t do a break in and at least 5 oil changes your unit will not last! Do the first oil change and look at how much aluminum flakes come out. It takes 4 more or as many as it takes until you don’t see any flakes. This is crucial for these cheap motors.
do you have any concerns about china engine? china engine good or no good? also, what does the sine wave look like? is it smooth curve or stepped sine wave?
For the price point better/cheaper to get the two 9000s and parallel or one of these? Two would likely give u redundancy as 9000 will power a lot of a house. N+1. But two hooks ups and two services. But lighter and smaller to move around. I assume the vtwin 16000 engine by itself is quieter than two 9000s single cylinder running.
Hey guys, do you know if I can get one generator with inverter and one without ( all from Sam brand) and pair them up?! Maybe the one with the inverter being the one sending power to the outlet?! The generators without inverter are cheaper ( obviously) so that's why I was think about it. Thank you for the help and Gavin thank you for your videos, they are awesome.
Will this push 240v through both 50amp outlets at the same time? I have two electric pizza ovens that are 240v , 4800watts, and 20.5 amp on my food truck.
@@gymtanningdutyI don’t think it matter much between Duromax and Genmax. Both Chinese junk motors, and cheap generator heads. I would stick with quality over price in an emergency.
right so with 50amp x 240v = 12000w and 50amp x 240v = 12000w that would be 12000w x 2 = 24000w , but this gen is only rated for max 16000w. So on a balanced load you can do 8000w on plug01 and 8000w on plug02 peak wattage. Let me know if I'm correct on this?
@@billdee814 The total capability is 16,000 surge...and 13,000 running....is what Gavin said. But if the breakers are really rated at 50 amps...and that is the true capacity of the circuit, then it's 12,000 watts, not 13,000.
I think each of those plugs are rated for 50 amps each so technically you could overload easy, my question is if I parallel 2 of these 24kw run with 32kw surge how would a get all that power into one panel box? Would I do 2=50 Amp generator inlet boxes in the same 200amp panel box? How would that work with my interlock kit in main panel?
with the duormax 165000 are you getting a true 50 amps at each plug 50/240 12000/i am looking at this to run large house and wood need the whole 16500 watts and use each 50 amp i know 8500 each plug max, but is it caplable to run a true 50 amps to each one

Thanks 😊 for the support
We just ordered ours yesterday says don’t ship till December 1st??

Such a beast! I may have to upgrade my XP9000iH... If I paralleled two of these it would be a little more than my whole house generator (30Kw).

Gavin, great video. Can you do an instruction video on how to convert it to a floating neutral?
Love the split view
If there is 60 mph winds outside, and electric goes out, can you just push remote start, or do you have to go outside and turn on power switch first?

There’s really only two in that size I would recommend the Genmax gm17000 and this one I should have the Tri fuel soon
I will have the Genmax 17000 tri fuel in a few months

We prop maintenance in here. You shouldn’t have any concerns. This one is a pure sine wave inverter.
The big question is whether or not the generator can power the Flux Capacitor.
Yes! Two of them 👍🏾

I didn’t measure the fuel economy on this video
Hello. I’m curious how loud the unit is at full load, 1 meter away at ear level.
It’s really not that loud at 72 DB I thought it would be a lot louder
So if eliminated the RV then that should power your entire house correct?
Yes 👍🏾
How did you turn your xp16000iH into a floating neutral?
I haven’t converted it yet
@@GeneratorReviews can you please walk through how to convert it to a floating neutral?
Please Gavin, this would be a great video. We need Duromax input, if it's okay to covert to a floating neutral, and their instructions.
Will these generators run a DC mini split? My Honda 3000 inverter didn’t turn it on
It’s currently running my entire house and my entire RV. I don’t think a mini split would be any problem for this generator.
I am anxiously waiting to see what Genmax comes out with.

How much propane does it use when running the house?
My 40 pound propane tank usually last about 24 hours
what was the volume measurement at 10.7kW?
The DB rating at 10.7k was around 74
Is the Gen bonded or floating
This generator is a bonded
EMP proof your house and RV
$5K is an awful steep investment unless you live in an area with really poor electrical grid.
Compared to a 15 K standby generator plus installation and permits a little over $14,000
Yeah I have $500 invested in my 3,500 running watt inverter...and will probably use it every three or four years.
The generator was a lower price than the house and RV. If you can afford it go for the best.
We all focus on the COST of things and ignore the VALUE… until a catastrophe strikes.
Ya 7 years ago we lost power for 2 weeks at the end of October. I’d pay 5000 for it
Would I still need to install a soft start for a 5 ton AC with this? Or would this horse start it with ease?
I would still recommend installing a soft start
How about a decibel measurement?
I will test it next video.
Hey It looks nice but I would opt for a diesel generator with pressurized lubrication and filter.
A 50 amp 240v plug can handle 12000 Watts (6000 Watts per leg).
50 x 240 = 12000.
Or 50amp X 120V = 6,000 watts....times 2 (legs) = 12,000 watts. I think sometimes people do not understand the ratings between 240V and 120V.
right so with 50amp x 240v = 12000w and 50amp x 240v = 12000w that would be 12000w x 2 = 24000w , but this gen is only rated for max 16000w. So on a balanced load you can do 8000w on plug01 and 8000w on plug02 peak wattage. Let me know if I'm correct on this?
