I am so excited to learn Welsh with you! I am American but very Welsh. My father spoke only Welsh until he went to high school. My Nanny (gran) was born in Aberystwyth. I have been to the UK twice but I was very young. I remember seeing a white horse in a hill. I look forward to visiting Wales, I want to come see my homeland if that makes sense, and learn all I can. Thank you for your channel!!!
Thanks for watching. Lovely place Aberystwyth. Have been there many times. Your White Horse was probably the Uffington White Horse in England (Oxfodrshire) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uffington_White_Horse
Lovely find. Miss Wales, used to camp there every year from Montgomery to the Brecon Beacons. Got two pals moving there now so plan to return! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of our country Will, even us locals get to visit places we don't normally see through your vids. Lovely, peaceful and fascinating.
How beautiful ❤️ Visiting Wales is definitely on my bucket list. The grass literally is greener in Wales. It looks like how I always imagined what a fairy tale land is like. It's lovely.
That was a great watch that Will. Something I often do is having a nose on Google maps too for things that look interesting and for new walks here down south Wales. My first time stumbling upon your videos but just from this first one I have subscribed. I look forward to seeing more of your work. 👍
Well what can I say! I have recently returned from a family holiday up North Wales. I was armed with a long list of places to visit, four of which were from watching some of your great videos. While I didn't manage to get to see all of the places on my list, I did manage to make two of the places you introduced to me me top priority! My son and me climbed up to this video's chapel and then my whole family visited St. Dyfnogs. Both were the highlights of the holiday for me! I had a dip in the healing well, boy that is some cold water! Thank you for introducing me to such amazing places and as always I look forward to seeing more places you will share. Diolch!
Thank you so much. I have been thinking of Wales and trying to learn the language, and it is really nice to see the landscape and the tiny church with a spectacular view. A truly beautiful place, I am jealous! Did you say Denbigh..?.I think an ancestor was from there...
I will definitely come to Wales this year. I've been to the north of scotland twice and would like to "explore" the south this year. I just drive on to wales :-).
Some friends we met from Rhyd y mwyn took us to this church in the 80 s they said that it’s the burial place of Merchion , and on a certain day each year monks from a nearby monastery walk to it at dusk with candles lit , it facing west Christian church’s face west , Kings are buried on the right hand side of god so he will be on the right
Fascinating adventure. I can't believe you said "There's not a soul here" at the Church :p No vampires live in the woods, you can be certain of that. The rest was just a-maze-ing :o)
You can sell a garden pail of "ramps " to fancy hotels/restaurants for $40.00. If we hurry it would pay for our trip ; ) Thank you for another lovely walk through your beautiful countryside.
Yes, that's the one...happy memories though I wish I'd had the courage to walk all the way up to the disused (partly) quarry. Used to pick blackberries up there. (We live in Liverpool but visited)
Loved your Exploration. I couldn't help but laugh at the beginning. You are like me, if you see something you don't know about, you have to Investigate. That's what I'm like. Ha! Ha!. I have a good true story I could tell you and it would make a great Movie. Unfortunately I only know what my Father told me and he was a Child when it happened. To turn it into a Movie would require a really good imagination.
@Randle Patrick McMurphy My Grandfather and a few of his friends did not believe in Ghosts or Supernatural Things, but, they wanted to find out for themselves if the stories they had heard were true. So, they used to go and look round places they had heard stories about during the day to get a good lay out of the place or deserted Mansion. They would go back to Investigate at night. My Dad, as a Child, used to listen to all their stories when they were talking to each other about them. One of those places concerned walking through a very large wood. After a short time they also smelled Garlic, but could not find what was causing it. About a fifty yards beyond that they were surprised to see the ground between the trees was different. It was impossible but it looked as if the grass had been cut and everything else was tidy. It was only when they examined this area closely, they found a number of the trees had small steps going up to closed doors. It looked like a small village. The doors couldn't be opened so they thought someone had just carved the doors into the trees. Not to far beyond that the middle of the wood had been cleared of trees and there was a big old deserted Mansion in the middle.
@@Jamienomore thanks for sharing the story ... by very strange coincidence I was watching a video made by a friend at the exact time when your notification came through th-cam.com/video/hCf51NiTU0w/w-d-xo.html And he was talking about smelling the Ransom (wild garlic) in his video. I collected some last week in my local woods too (it's fantastic with chicken). Anyway this stuff literally carpets the woodland floor and at smells amazing (this is what your grandad would have smelt for sure) I don't know if he was a "towny" but he may not have known this :) The little doors are sometimes made by crafts people as a kind of "folly" or joke / miniature village and there are also areas (known as glades) where grass grows but only short as it gets no light due to the woodland canopy so looks tidy or mowed. And finally I live not far from Gwylfa Hiraethog (one of our local so called "haunted houses") which is close to the Stone Chapel in this video and how I came to be looking at this video :)
Such a pity I am not good enough to do that. The story continued after they got to the front door of the deserted Mansion and went inside. No one would believe the things that happened then.

To hike in a place with no snakes and no bears.. Must be lovely!
Well we have got snakes but if there were bears there, they were well hidden 😉

Interesting video. I love looking at os maps at aerial mapping for local features then trying to find them
It's the first time I've done it. Definitely have to do it again :)
Really enjoyed the video, thankyou.

That hill the church is on looks to me like a huge tumulus mound and not a natural feature. Especially looking at it from the angle at 9:04 mins
Interesting theory
@@WillHuw its a tumulus mound possible chamber inside there
@@WillHuw some churches were built on much older sites of worship that church is on an ancient mound without a shadow of a doubt... Where is this huw?

Hey will have you come across the works of wilson and blackett concerning wales ?
No. I must check them out :)
@@WillHuw hope you do and would like to hear back on your thoughts about it all especially what they are saying about the cave in nevern in dyfed
Hello there just came across this again and wondered if you looked into the wilson and blackett researches
My family were from Trefor, the quarry village. Have you been?
If that is the Trefor which is down the Lleyn peninsular, a seaside village, then yes I have. Lovely little place :)

Spot on. I did a bit of research afterwards and it's mentioned in this Wiki : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Beuno%27s_Jesuit_Spirituality_Centre
