Let me explain the ending This takes place during Sonic CD so Sonic has the Time Stones, and in this version of the events the Chaos Emeralds so when he was hit by Furnace head on he was able to go Super at the last moment and survive the attack with no damage taken, the overflow of energy and speed triggers the Time Stones to allow Sonic to see a glimpse into what would have happened if he hadn't had the emeralds, this glimpse must have worked both ways since Sonic and Starved sing a little before Starved laughs knowing that at least in this timeline he managed to defeat that rrrrrrotten hedgehog

See here’s the thing, Furnace wasn’t able to catch up to sonic when he was going med fast, but furnace went past sonic when he was going as fast as he could? People say Sonic is fooling around with Starved, but look at his face there.
In the actual story, sonic slows down to taunt eggman, which allowed furnace to get ahead, so it would’ve been more accurate if his speeds were swapped in both phases

That’s why Starved said “WHAT” as like he was confused Sonic didn’t die. I’m guessing Sonic gets the chaos emeralds resonation to turn into Super Sonic but idk. This might explain some stuff idk if this is canon. I just heard it and so I told it so it could maybe help with the confusion of how Sonic survived here. I think this is also why Starved said “you don’t even know your fate” to Sonic

But the general concept is: his subconscious retreated into a hallucination of himself coming out victorious, while at the same time he was being slammed into the ground, in reality. But in his dream he was making a Super getaway. I really do recommend watching the Baki clip and draw parallels from that.

I like to believe that Starved collected all the time stones (as seen by Stardust Speedway bad future in the background). He would then use them to create a loop where he could catch Sonic over and over. However, Sonic would slowly start to adapt to the loop until he avoids Furnace's attack. Sonic then uses the chaos emeralds to defeat Eggman and Furnace. I also like the idea that Tails collected the time stones so he could save Sonic, but was *too slow*. And Sonic would adapt to avoid Furnace. Just my own little headcanon.
