when I was a kid I dreamed with that bike... no bike I could get now (and there are pretty amazing bikes in the market) could give me the thrill that little bike would back in the day

    Way cool !
I had 2 of these Montesa Cota '25' 49cc bikes at the same time, a friend found them. Enough power that we, as 200# adults, did trials riding around the yard.

So cool to see your son enjoying the little Cota! A fun fact about this bike, is that the frame served as a rised air intake to breath clean air without water. You can see the air outlet on the frame tube just behind the carburetor. There is a rubber boot that goes from the carburetor to that hole in the frame.

That little thing brings back memories. I live in a little SE Ohio town where there was one of the few Montesa dealers in the US. Murray City, OH in the heart of SE Ohio's off road territory. Rich and Robbie's Cycle Shop was the name of the place. They had a couple of the little bikes I believe, one was the shop bike, kinda like a pit bike today, and another brand new one. I think both got burnt in an immense fire that destroyed 3 or 4 connected buildings and damaged a couple more nearby. 1976 I believe. If I wasn't 66, and had some money I'd see if I could import and sell some more of the make. Not the Cota however, trials never did go real big here, my Uncle Buck, Sherpa T rider, has long been gone and he was the first fellow in the area that had an interest. Several of us tried, on our enduro bikes, when a local club had a few trials. Uncle Buck laid out some pretty challenging courses, but nothing like today's trials.

Liam looks really at home on that bike. That says a lot about him (a natural) and the bike.

I'm 50, and I would ride this little trials bike on the road, like it's a little moped!

@@wheelhousegarage I'm into old mopeds, mostly. My favorite being the Puch X30/ Kromag Swinger/Pinto's.

I spent a lot of time in Spain in the 70's and these where not for kids but for 16+ youngsters on the streets.
If they had more money they would drive 125, 250, 350 Montesa, Bultaco, Ossa.

In the late 70's i had a cota 49 when i was 15 years old and my friend had a TY 50. The cota was way better. I did some competitions like artificial trials, climbing on cars etc. This bike was fine for this.
