I have a 1990 Rmx, and i love that bike. I ride bikes every day all year(kinda cold and snowy here in Norway). And the RMX is my winter bike. Stock the bike is ok, at best. But putting a PWK carb, Pro circuit exhaust and RM head gasket on it. The bike comes alive and is such a fun bike. i also changed the front forks to some Paiolis from a TM 125 mx, and the rear shock to a Gas Gas EC Ohlines sock. And now that bike comperes to any mid to late 2000 bikes. Love the RMX.
I had a 93 for a min and yes put a pwk airstriker with a fmf Q stealth out back and dam the 250 was sweet low mid and high. Sadly I had to send it packing as someone wanted more than me and paid me for it handsomely. 89 is definitely my favorite looking RMX hands down. I still want one and I just might get it.
Yeah I meant the KDX as a model and did not realize that I has said the 200 specifically until I went back to edit it. At that point I did not feel like reshooting the whole intro for that little mess up.
Nice history on the RMX250, I just sold a nice 1991. One thing about the 1991's (maybe other years?) is that Suzuki gave you a hop up kit with the RMX250 purchase to convert it to a beast. You received a RM250 pipe and silencer, carb top, one ring piston, RM head gasket and something for the power valve. I don't remember but I have the old magazine that list all the parts. I think the bike would sell now too, along with a RM250 that should have never been cut. Thank you
@@TheMotocrossVault Awesome, Yes mine had it and it hauled ass! I bought a magazine test on the 1991 I had and that is where I learned of it. Thanks for the reply, I have my 1991 RM on a video if you want to see a clean example.
We got all the rmx's in Australia. Up until 2001 or 2003. We had a few different shapes. It's very hard to see the models year by year as they are miss labeled in Google. If you do a video on the entire history and models that would be awesome. Cheers for the videos your knowledge is very impressive. although I love the colors and stickers of the mid 90s, haha I think it's a age thing as at that time I was in my teens. I think 96 is a hard year to beat as all models were great looking designs. But like you the rm was my favorite, I watched chad reed ride my local track on a rm125 as a junior.
I bought a brand new 97 rmx250 and absolutely loved it,years later I bought an 89 and I still have that bike and I love it just wish the 89 didn't have the inverted forks
AWESOME REVIEW MAN, THANKS FOR THAT, I HAVE A 1998 STREET LEGAL RMX 250 SUPERMOTO IN BRAZIL AND THEY CAME WHITH 51Hp TO US DUE A FLEXIBLE LEGISLATION IN THAT TIME AND UNFORTUNATELY SINCE YEAR 2000 ALL 2 STROKE WAS BANNED IN COUNTRY, ONLY FOR OFF ROAD USE! 4 YEARS OWNING, SO I CAN SAY: THIS BIKE IS A TRACTOR, WONDERFULL, REALIBLE, VERY LIGHT LITERALLY THEY DONT GET AGED! I CALLED HER CHEETARA FROM THUNDERCATS ANIME
DUDE....YOUR NEW OPENING INTRO WITH THE FIREY SUN LIKE SPHERE MORPHING INTO A BILLOWING CLOUD OF 2 STROKE EXHAUST ..(AT LEAST I LIKE TO THINK OF IT AS SUCH) INTO THE MOTOCROSS VAULT LOGO!!!!! FRIGGIN TRICK AS HELL U DEF SHOULD STICK WITH THAT FOR SURE!!! GREAT JOB!!!!! (SORR BOUT CAPS I JUST WANTED TO EMPHASIZE MY ENTHUSIASM ON MY FEELINGS!!!!)
I own a 97 ‘. I have the Thinner Rm head gasket ‘ Wiseco 2 ring piston’ Fmf pipe and 304 Silencer Vforce reeds PwK As carb ‘ Uni filter and Non oring chain . I need to look into that Powervalve cover mod . This bike absolutely Rips now compared to how it was stock . Then again i have a 95 WR 250 that loves 100 Octane fuel and will eat this RMX . The Wr use to be so hard to Jet till i heard the Squish band loves 100 octane!
Hey Tony awesome video. I really liked this one and the odyssey and dirtwheels magazine videos. Please do a video for Kawasaki Tecate 3 & 4 and definetly one for the TRX250R 2-Strokes 4 Life !!
Damn dude that is a bit harsh I think. I like to set the stage in my videos and I think that is what sets my stuff apart. I do not just spout information. I try to add context and my own recollections and feelings if I have them. I keep those to the intro and exit though for the most part so the main review is more straight forward info from the tests if the time. It is actually 4:45 where the main "review" starts. I included both a timestamp in the description and a chapter break in the video so you can skip right to the main review portion if that is your jam.

Such a gorgeous bike, one of Suzuki’s prettiest ever.
It really is!
Thank you for this video. I have two 89 RMX250's and they are amazing bikes.

So cool. I'm a Yamaha guy, but that RMX is a very cool bike. I wouldn't mind picking one up if I came across it.
Just to refresh your memory the KDX200 was produced from 1983-2006. KDX220 from 1997-2006. Btw love your videos. Keep up the great work.

You are one of the only channels on TH-cam that i can find that talkes about this dirtbike history. Thank you. 👍
I’m glad you enjoy it

I agree, I'm hopeful that we're on the verge of a 2 stroke resurgence.
They included the free hop-up kits in 1991 and 1992

Raced both a 90 and 95 RMX250 in many an enduro and cross country in the 90s. Still on a 2 stroke today with my 300rr.
I typically see them on Marketplace for at least $2K

Didn't AL Baker win on a modified XR 500?

The WR was a f a s t and able machine,,meanwhile the RMX was just able,,hmmm..
Usually love your videos......this time it took you nearly 10 minutes of mumbling around to get to the RMX.......more coffee, Tony.
Can't please everyone all the time myself I don't mind hearing some of the backstory how the RMX came about
