    Great video! Started with Lenovo 3 yrs ago with a Flex 3 15.6" for IT consultant work. A year after, I traded it for a 2nd gen Flex 5 15.6 and then for the latest gen Flex 5 also in 15.6 in Nov last year. Agree with you on your comparison. At less than $800, is a great bang for your buck. My son uses a Flex 3 for school and he loves it too. Sub'ed!

      If it's only +-$100 differences and offer much better specifications and features, I'll take the more expensive one. But if the price is so much differences with less features differences, I'll go with the cheaper one (for example I'll choose Xiaomi Mi11 than a Samsung galaxy S21 if i talking about phone).

    Lenovo makes a Flex 5 15" model which would be a better comparison to the HP Envy x360. The HP won the keyboard category and the heat dissipation category due to the larger keyboard area and the larger more spacious chassis of a 15" form factor vs 14". That would result in a tie in those categories or even Lenovo coming out ahead. Once you control for the difference in form factor it becomes more of an "apples to apples" comparison.

    I own a HP Envy x360 laptop purchased 6 months back. I seriously disapprove on the build quality of this laptop, a month and half ago one of the hinges broke out from the display side exposing the screws all by itself. I had used this laptop very carefully but the incident happened during a very normal tilt of the screen. The worst part was not over yet. It was very difficult to get a proper support from HP. For weeks they refused to cover this under warranty as it pertained to accidental damage according to their manual. I had very tough time with the support agents at all levels, some point they accepted and promised to help but never reverted back, weeks passed and I had to escalate at the highest level to get some attention and finally convinced to get it covered under warranty. Again it took over a month to get the part replaced as there was shortage of the same. I could have easily lost over 20k had it was not covered under warranty. I still work with fear on the laptop thinking it may fall apart again, so absolutely I do not have any confidence on the build quality. The hinges are some how loosely glued to the screen area, due to the pressure it can pop out any time. So I strongly discourage to buy this laptop.

      I'm leery of the HP as well- bought a new HP 17.3" HD+ Touchscreen Laptop in March 2020- it still runs well (I'm using it now), but the hinges started falling apart several months in. HP wouldn't even answer my emails. It's held together right now with duct tape. Once bitten....

    Dear Tehnopanda THANK you very much for an in depth review, exactly the one I needed. I had HP Envy 360 and I was really satisfied. After 2 years of use the keyboard suffered some weare and tear and I noticed the battery deteriation. Now Iam consudereng the purchase between these two, as Lenovo is 500gr lighter. On the local market it also sells with better configuration. The tricky part is that these two are more than double expensive than on Amazon and I want to be correct in my choice. However, even after your great review Iam still indecisive.

    • @ninaradulovic1237
      @ninaradulovic1237 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      OK, I am just testing my new Lenovo Flex 5. I bought it for a change as to the previous HP Envy 360°, since I was not able to find on the local market an ENVY model with more advanced i7 processor and 16GB RAM that Lenovo has together with bigger SSD. So, I have to tell you that my previous ENVY, even with a bit older configuration was far better. Lenovo is plastic, althogh they say that the upper part is aluminum. The look is decent, but significantly cheaper. The sound is cruspy and significantly less loud. Web cam givess worse quality transmission ( a bit yelowish and dul) even though the pixels arr the same. I've also noticed some delay in response when on a web conference and some picture tremblings, probably due to integeated grafic card. The only PRO for this machine is that it is much ligter. I was really troubled from walking around with some 2 kg and something, which gets particularly cumbersome on longer roads, especially for a women. So, I guess that I will stick to this one for some time, untill something better shows up on the marker. A decent option at this point was HP Spectra with all the deficiences eliminated, but at 700 EURO more expensive price and more importantly an additiinal kilogram to cary around.

    I think it really matters to what appeals to you the most, price being the biggest factor. Amazon as of now sells the flex 5 at 600 dollars with double the ram and is 80 dollars less than the x360, while the opposite is true with the ryzen 7 models. Hp is 60 dollars less, and if you go for the 13 inch model, is 80 dollars less. There are other factors, but this is a noticeable discrepancy.

    Incorrect Info Alert: The latest HP envy x360 have far higher sRGB and 400nits on their display than what is mentioned here.
    Also it would have made more sense to compare HP Envy x360 13.3" model with the Flex 5 for better comparison parameters.

    First of all, GREAT review, thanks so much! I decided to go with the Envy x360 13 with the Ryzen 5 - as a Surface Pro 4 owner I liked the smaller 13" footprint (more convenient for traveling). Also, where I live (Asia) the SKU choices are a bit different...............my x360 is a wood edition with 16g of RAM, 512g ssd, WiFi 6 and bluetooth 5. It was also a package deal with a shoulder bag, leather portfolio case, wireless mouse (2.4g), USB-C hub, even a cleaning kit.........................$865.00 USD. An AMAZING machine for the price, I'm VERY happy with it! Thanks again, looking forward to more great reviews from you!!

    • @drakehopkins5931

      1. Better for giving presentations in tent mode if you dont have a bigscreen/ projector.
      2. if you have a career/hobby of digital art/animations/storyboarding where a stylus is required that is a strong point.
      3. If you read a lot of online stuff or novels you can use it in tablet mode giving a feel of an actual book and you would'nt need a tablet like thing like kindle to carry with you but that ain't a strong point and can be countered by mom with the reason that all laptops are already very lightweight :/

    I got the flex 5 like a week ago, very nice built, light, great battery live, nice sound I use it mostly for note taking (stylus and keyboard) and reading PDFs , youtube, python programing, light gaming, it takes like 1s to turn off and less than 10s to turn on if you are student I think the flex5 is good,the fan rarely goes on if you are doing this "basic tasks" if you like to get comfy in bed and read stuff and take notes it is just in border line of becoming uncomfortable so I can't imagine using the hp for that, it is to heavy and big a 13" will be better, what stopped me from getting the hp was the fact that the hp I tested was very hot and it had just chrome opened so that kinda freaked me out and I decided to buy the flex, that and the reviews on this channel
