+beralder9 Yes absolutely! Actually you should adjust your vang constantly, adapting your trim to the conditions. Wind strength, wave height, heading and speed, are changing all the time, and therefore also your optimal trim setting.
@@MaximeBertrand02 whenever another boat is near, put on a really serious face, and tension and untension your vang whilst looking up and down the sail - that's the way to look like a real sailor :)
I've seen it. but its kind of the same. strong wind pull a lot of rope from them, wind from the back release both, light wind release a little bit from both
You're absolutely right! that's the main setting for the both of them. There are some differences with waves vs flat water, we will try to explain that in a more advanced video.
Hi, you use the vang in the upwind to bend the mast and de-power the sail. (make it flatter) In our trim guide video-serie, we explain exactly how it works and how you use all the trim lines to make the boat faster in all conditions. www.sportvid.nl/serie_mk2sail.html
@@sportvidpublic1229 Hey thanks! I'm buying a laser, my first sailboat scale 1:1 (I make model rc sailboats). Great vids! Too bad there's a paywall, but that' s life.
Nice - I understood this one. I also like the way it shows the constant action in a Laser and the concentration required.
do you actually adjust your vang multiple times while racing?

+SportVid Public Good to know! I used to set it at the shore based on wind strenght and stick with it the whole time. Thanks!
@@bondmode You need an easy way to adjust it all the time and you'll become addict to it.

Когда идешь полным бакштагом, при сильном ветре лучше травить немного грот ! Намного безопаснее, а скорость больше !
So the vang should me use the kind of the same way of the Cunningham?
Hi, not really. Check out this video and article about the Cunningham. www.sportvid.nl/videos/cunningham.html

ok thanks, just trying underdstand the basics of triming correctly in laser
Is the vang only used downwinds?
