T1 vs JDG Game 4, a team fight by Gumayusi that will be remembered for years. While the series was filled to the brim with constant action, this is a quick breakdown on one specific team fight where Gumayusi perfectly outplays a 1v2 against JDG's Ruler and 369 to qualify him for yet another Worlds title.
The main purpose of this video was to highlight the insane movement by Gumayusi to come out top of top of the 1v2. There were quite a few key points that I missed out on. There has been quite a bit of discussion on the Reddit thread I also posted which has great discussions if you'd like to read on more observations and things I didn't highlight in this video. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link the thread here so you're going to have to find it yourself.
Things missed:
Ruler made the decision to flash in reacting to Keria's Bard ultimate. Ruler could have decided to go to the left of the wall where he would be in fog of war, but Ruler also used his E dash just before this fight so he wouldn't have a wall hop over to be in range of Gumayusi. The first hit that Ruler lands on Gumayusi was also his Q and not his AA, I wasn't sure and so I second guessed myself while editing the video only to find out I was right from the beginning. Gumayusi's flash was also a reaction to 369's Aatrox Q3 which would have knocked him up for an easy kill, but the fact that Gumayusi STILL went for an auto attack onto Ruler before flashing was ballsy as hell. Gumayusi was also pre-emptively hitting targets which procced his Lethal Tempo and Guinsoos Rageblade as soon as he AA'd Zeri before flashing. The shield that's on him is from the rune Overheal. The first Q that Ruler used after flashing actually did hit Varus and was not an AA, meaning he only dodged 2 Zeri Q's during the fight. Also at 3:04 it was 2 Zeri Qs, 1 Zeri AA and one additional Aatrox AA that I missed.

faker although has one of the most coldest line like he literally said "All roads lead to me" spoken like a God right there. This guy still has it, those old time he is considered the Unkillable Demon King. Faker will forever be a legend and feared in the entire history of League.

NA pros literally thought Guma failed his flash. That flash was to reposition away from Ruler and dodge Aatrox Q. He needed distance from Ruler without going over the wall so he could juke the rest of Zeri’s Qs, notice how he repositions as soon as he flashes.
There is a reason why they're recognized world wide as the NAirport players...
He flashed to dodge q3 from aatrox and to get inside the bush to prevent ruler from play around vision
He failed the flash so he decided to 1v2 to fix it 🐧

I wouldn't be too harsh on them. Live commentary can often get caught up on the moment and produce inaccurate statements. I'm sure as soon as what happened really registered, they would all agree that the flash was repositional.

This entire T1 roster are basically Gods unleashed on the rift. Each of the 5 laners I can see carry the game. Guma can carry, Keria can carry, Zeus can carry, Oner can carry and Faker can most definitely carry. You let any one of them grow and they are unstoppable.

That play is insane, he knew he can 1v2, the flash not only dodge Aatrox's Q3 but also get in the bush to kill them.
T1 didn't have sight in that bush, he must have flash in it to outplay Ruler....Still can't believe Gumayusi win that 1v2.
I don't know if he knew he can 1v2 or not, but he definately knew he must win that 1v2 since he lose then they will lose this teamfight.
Bursj was warded so JDG had vision on Guma. He folded them regardless.
Flash is the only thing he should do and he did it quickly

Don't be too hard on him for that, it was a fair thing to think in the heat of the moment watching the play. He thought Guma's intention was to flash over the wall but wasn't close enough aka failed flash. Guma wasn't trying to flash the wall though, he was flashing Aatrox Q3.

guma definitely had the best play game 4, but faker did way more that game. killing knavi, knight and just perfect engages. if you're talking about mvp game 4, it's keria, faker.

at that moment caedrel said it was for dodge but ls and others thought it was a failed flash :D they did not even think about gumagod turning it around. Thats called knowing ur champion's limits and more importantly your limits as a player and guma knows his player limit is over 9000

Guma is one of the few ADC players on worlds that goes On hit on Varus i think streamers pointed this out or even questioned it but this play would not be possible of he didnt play the playstyle he is confident and comfortable from.
right? lethality varus is only good for poking and finishing off kills, it does not go this hard in teamfights. guma did the same thing to gala vs lng. I really like the fact that both guma and zeus play varus/aatrox completely differently than most people and dominate with them.
It all depends on the composition your team drafts. If you have Jayce Varus Ori Sej Thresh (just as an example) you would go lethality most likely because you have a poke top laner and other than Sej you have no real frontline so you'd be better off dealing damage with Q's rather than autos. This game the enemy team has no reliable way to engage and they are 5 squishies so he could have gone either build/runes but I'm guessing he wanted on-hit partly for a stronger 2v2 in lane (poke varus gives up early push and they have a lulu to shield his dmg early on) but also the enemy draft has no actual reliable engage options to pick him so the fights are going to be front to back and all in because JDG has no reliable engage and so I understand why he went on-hit as it has more value in front to back all in fights than lethality does.

It was going to be a nail-bitter fight if ruler killed gumayusi there, fortunately for my heart ruler dier there
There's still Yone and a really fed Azir. Two auto attacks from the sand soldiers and Zeri's dead.
Nah the game was already over by that point. 369 was useless and with that comp, they had little to no way of engaging Azir, who was already 3 core items at that point.
@@BryanUmadhay faker's azir was half hp from fighting knight, his ult was down. idk what low elo you're from, but a half hp azir with no ult gets run down by a late game zeri 10/10 times.
This should be shown to that guy on reddit that was forcing the narrative that ruler choked this fight instead of guma outlplaying him and 369, and that guma /got lucky/

It's a combination of an overheal shield and Keria uses Locket just before he dies.
And the main thing the level difference
Goma Lv 15 ,Ruler LV13 and 369 lV14
Higher level a lot of higher damage and they do a low damage

This play from Guma is so good. It funny enough made Kanavi look like a troll in the process. I mean yes he's made a mistake failing to catch Azir but than when he knew he will not get you he moved forward separating T1 into two groups, and allowing with that super easy kill on Bard and easy jump on Varus ... If only they managed to kill Varus in this 2v1 this would have been 2 for 1 fight for JDG giving them hope of avenue back into this game
if guma dies there jdg 100% has a chance to win that teamfight with zeri and aatrox.
@@pandapo7542 IMO than the team fight ends. Remember Azir was ultra fed at that point and they would not want to walk strait face first into him with that squishy of a comp.
It wouldn't have been a 2 for 1 fight though. Look at Orianna's HP and positioning after she flashes the wall. He has roughly 800~ hp and there's a yone with ult and flash, a J4 with E Q and an Azir. Ori would have died 100% without Lulu ult + shield. It would have been a 2 for 2 trade but JDG trades JG + Mid for AD + SUP. Zeri ult would have expired based on her positioning she couldn't extend it to contest drag. Zeri also would have likely been around 40-50% hp even after killing Varus (look how not even close the 1v2 was) and Zeri is down 3 LVLs on Azir and Yone who both have Ult and Yone has flash. So it would be no flash no ghost Zeri, no summ no ult Lulu and no ult Aatrox trying to contest drag vs enemy jg + top mid who are up 3 lvls on her.

People always start the analysis from when Keria dies usually, but could we just point out that Guma hit a full range Varus ult on the Orianna to force her to use Zhonya's + Flash as Oner and Zeus are on top of her. He effectively 1v3'd in this fight.
Genuine question: can somebody explain why Keria died so fast there? What was the purpose of his positioning? Was it a mistake?
I think Keria flashed forward seeing the angle on the Bard Q and getting too excited about the pick

This team should've won worlds a long time ago but nerves, inexperience in worlds, losing draft and choking is always their problem when it gets to the finals. Hopefully all of those problems are gone now.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, I do feel like the first flash was a hit on the wall by accident. Obviously he did more than enough afterwards, but was the first flash actually a fail?
I feel like it wasn't. High chance he was probably dodging Aatrox's 2Q and also kiting out Ruler
Guma was 1 level ahead of Ruler because Keria let him solo exp most of the mid game. And when it came to this moment, Guma was 2 lvls ahead of Ruler. The only play I’d say Guma did was being able to dodge the Aatrox 3rd Q with flash. He would for sure win against ruler considering the level gap. Overall, it was still hard because of the high pressure of having a 1v2 especially against Ruler and 369. The confidence of Guma is on another level this game.
The only time Ruler regret not picking an auto atk adc... (No need to use 'Q' skillshot all the time that misses most of the time)
That's the only issue I had with Zeri... yeah... i am suck at skillshot... and I am too lazy to aim... (Except Ashe 'W'... if you miss with that skillshot, just uninstall)
Besides this beautiful outplay, Guma was 2 levels ahead of Zeri, surely Guma won't confidently take this trade without this info, T1 was way ahead this game 4.
Zeri was fed +2v1. You're cracked if you fight that even with a level gap. Also t1 and jdg are most likely equal in this game due to zeri.
@@genelionhart8806 When u play on-hit Varus, lvl diff is huge. I also play it and I know when I need to flash like that if I am surely will kill my opponent. Again, this lvl of confidence on this play was purely motivated by lvls diff.

Because Guma plays all adcs almost to perfection and he knows his limit so he knows he has lethal for zeri there and goes for it. Thats why he just flashed Aatrox Q3 and repositioned to kill Ruler. Watch Guma vs Gala Clip how Guma played Varus passive to perfection.

What is the point if he flashed there? Zeri will just run away and will be in a much better place to dmg guma aatrox will have his timer down to dmg again and lulu will just pick on him with polymorph so he will just die for nothing

In retrospect it’s easy to say what missing should have done but in that moment how could he have known ruler + 369 would lose that 2v1 :/ From his perspective keeping Orianna alive is more optimal cuz had ruler actually won that 2v1 the 4 of them could have turned on T1
