I love that the sharks are having fun. I suppose that breaching for sea creatures must be an activity like diving from high places into the water for us. So cute 😭
How wonderful to see a new video by Chloe Hayden. I love everything about marine biology (including sharks) and wish I was a mermaid so I could BE marine biology!!!!!
I’ve seen a few basking sharks, dead and alive, when I worked as a fishery at sea observer. The dead one was one that got tangled in longline halibut gear. At first I thought “Wow! What a huge halibut” then realized it was some kind of shark. A basking shark in fact. Second time I just saw its fin, it looked like a small sailboat
My top three favourite sharks are threshers, dwarf lantern sharks, and the epaulette shark. Dwarf lantern sharks are the smallest shark species that we have discovered. They live very deep In the ocean (bathypelagic zone) and very little is known about them. They are a type of dogfish shark, and as you can guess with their name they glow. Epaulette sharks are adorable, they are apart of the long tailed carpet shark family. They can walk on land and survive without oxygen for about 3 hours. They use their pectoral fins to walk to different puddles left behind by the tides. And lastly I love threshers because they are the first shark I remember seeing when I was younger. I watched a documentary on how they can use their whip like tails to stun fish, making them easier to catch. Thank you for making a video on shark facts! I’ve been obsessed with sharks since I was little. I don’t really have anyone to info dump on so this felt really nice. If anyone read this I hope you have a nice day! And look up the sharks I mentioned, they look super cool:)
i really like dogfish!! specifically the pacific spiny dogfish i love their little spots. also a little more abt greenland sharks (i love these buggers)! they aren't blind from the get-go, a copepod called *Ommatokoita elongata* has a parasitic type relationship with the shark. it attaches itself to the poor sharks eyes and causes corneal lesions. as said, it can significantly impair the sharks vision. silly guys ^^ (the parasites suck tho)
Chloe, I have not seen a video of yours in a while and it's good to see you again in a video 😃😃!! I hope you are doing well and you sound like you are doing well I really enjoyed what you said about the different sharks🐋🐋🐋💙💙💙! I never knew that a shark would actually breach like a dolphin for fun🤗🤗! And it's really something about the cookie cutter sharks eating sue U.S. submarines during the Cold War🤗🤗!!! And the last shark being alive from 300 to 500 years that's even longer than the land turtles that Charles Darwin discovered off the Galapagos Islands!! Chloe, thank you for showing us the gentler side and the fun side of sharks 🐋🐋🌊💙💙💙💙💙!!! Although I'm not a fan of sharks, I do like these three sharks that you showed us since they are not harmful to people, unless you're in a submarine and encounter a a cookie cutter sharks 😁😁!!!
Omg yeah those sharks r cool, my fav is whale sharks because they’re such a pretty colour but it’s rlly cool to learn more about different kinds of sharks :D
This is not the video I expected to be watching today... and I 100% approve. "Imagine what the 500 year old shark would tell you for stories" - Probably lots of recollection about how much they love their cold, dark home. Greenland Sharks DGAF.

Woooow!!!! I loved this! Yeaaa, I knew about the cookie cutter sharks! I ahd just read about them a few months ago. Super cute name for a nasty nasty beastie! Amazing animals and a little scary. I loved all the sharks you named and wosh you'd gone for your full top 5. I would happily watched 45 minutes of this, and no, they're not my special interest. Sooo awesome!!!! Thank you! ❤
Welcome back. Leopard sharks? Hammerhead sharks? Ron and Valerie Taylor know a bit about sharks, look them up. Rodney Fox too. He had a close encounter of an unpleasant kind. Your Mum might know my youngest daughter.
Deep Sea creatures have a very slow metabolism due to the phenomenon of deep sea gigantism which is caused by a number if factors, inclhding Kleiber's law (from Wikipedia, an animal's metabolic rate scales to the 3⁄4 power of the animal's mass.)... A smaller surface area relative to internal area favors cokder environments, and things like lack of predation and water viscosity in the deep sea compound into nature's evolutionary engineering of the Greenland Shark and simikar to geometries that allow them to be the longest living creatures. Another cook shark fact is their ability to sense electrical potential.
