In Season of Discovery Newman's landing was added as a paladin's rune quest, with a nice lore to it. I'm really enjoying how SoD has expanded the lore and maps of Classic.
Oh wow. I didn't play too much of SoD after Gnomeregan since my guild died, nor did I play Paladin. I'll have to check that out before SoD ends. That's actually really cool that they did that. The devs adding new lore has probably been one of my favorite bits of SoD as well, I really liked the extra night elf stuff that they added with the Night Elf Rebellion quest. Gave a bit more depth to the world and extra context to the Night Elves joining the Alliance.
That’s an old relic from the very beginning of the game. From what I recall, Newman‘s Landing is the place where human players would spawn while the cinematic was going before being teleported to Northshire.
Oh wow. That would kind of make sense with the name Newman's Landing, it's where every new man lands. I do wonder why they'd originally have people spawn there during the cinematic though, quite strange, because as far as I know now during that cinematic your character is just sitting in Northshire Abbey.
Back in the original beta I fell off something and landed in water. My hearth was on cool down so I swam around looking for a way out. I found Newmans Landing. There were characters in starting gear blinking into and out of existance really quickly in front of the house. It seemed random when they would pop up. I posted about it on the forums and someone said it was a place where originally humans spawned very early into the game but when they changed where the spawn place was when the game went live but they did it by making you teleport from there. I cant confirm what they told me. But it makes sense to me.
In the snowy mountains of Dun Morogh, there’s a hidden house that feels like it shouldn’t be there. Locals tell stories about a mage named Gorban Stonecloak who built it to study ancient magic. One winter, he just disappeared, leaving the house behind. People who stumble on it swear something strange still lingers there. Over by the coast, there’s a quiet spot called Newman’s Landing-a rundown dock most people don’t even know exists. Sailors say it was used for shady deals, maybe even something darker. Both places feel like they’ve got secrets waiting to be uncovered.

In HC, swimming past this house is the safest way to Menethil Harbor at a low level. It takes a half hour or so, though.
