  • I have decided to sell the Saugeen Witch. This is a short description of the boat.
    Ad at tinyurl.com/y3...
    I'm going to use what I've learned over the past many years of living and traveling on the Saugeen Witch to build a rural off grid homestead thinking earth structures and permaculture.
    I'll post one more Rambling video of Fiji sometime in the next few weeks. Fiji has some really spectacular cruising grounds, happy friendly people, healthy fish and coral reefs, incredible surf, and secluded soft white sand beaches. I've been able to see a lot of it; north, east. south and west of the Koro Sea. After that, this channel is dead.
    For fun, we will create a new channel of videos sharing ideas on the new land based adventure. Not sure now what that channel name will be.

    Great boat, nicely outfitted and one can see how you equipped her with essentials and lowest maintenance possible. Nice video. Hope the new owner will do good by her.

      I have known Ken for many years now. What he did needs a lot of courage and passion and very less money. He was at his best as Sr Software Engineer at a global product based company when he volunteerly quit the job much before his retirement and went on to live his dream. All I can say to you buddy is do you have heart to leave your stable life for this? Of not wrong he is on waters from last 4-5 years. BTW we miss you Ken. Always so good to see your vlogs. Feels great that I once controlled this beauty for some time in Florida walters.

    Sad to see you selling, but I'm sure your new adventure will be excellent too. What part of the world are you planning to settle in?
    I clicked on the yachthub link but got an error message.

      Thanks for letting me know about bad yachthub link. Changed to tinyurl link now working.
      Will find property in New Zealand's far north district and make room for friends with more space than this little boat. So, let me know if you make it out to that area and you've got a place to stay.

      link works now. Wow, I hear good things about N.Z., freedom-wise. Hopefully one day I'll make it there. I'm currently starting a rebuild on a 26' sailboat for singlehanded cruising.

    I want but am no where near close enough to affording it. Currently on a rotten Columbia 8.7 I got for $1000. It's my first boat.
    The the boat going above or below $50000?

    • @witchSailor
      @witchSailor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, if you can dry your Columbia out then you can get epoxy to take you a long way. :)
      Going below $50k, ad link in description.

    Where does the name come from? I live on the Saugeen River in Canada.

    • @witchSailor
      @witchSailor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question.
      Marine architect Tom Colvin designed boats and sold the plans. The plans to this boat he named "Saugeen Witch".
      Unfortunately, Tom passed away a few years ago so we cannot ask him. Best I've heard is that he named it for native American Indian Shaman. There was a tribe named Saugeen and he named it for their shaman.
      So, I bet the name came from the same place as you and your river.
      Thanks!

      Interesting. The First Nation here on the shore of Lake Huron (Southampton) are the Saugeen. They are Ojibway. I wonder if it’s named after them.
