- We sit with Karl Chiao, Executive Director of the Dallas Historical Society. Carl describes how the Dallas Historical Society acquired the Alamo Diorama, the largest diorama depicting the Battle of the Alamo. He shares his thoughts on how the Alamo Diorama experience was enhanced with the creation of a companion mobile application utilizing immersive technology to tell the full story of the Battle of the Alamo.
The Alamo Diorama Augmented Reality Mobile App features fully rendered 3D animated scenes depicting major events that took place during the battle. Exhibit visitors can explore locations across the Alamo of 1836 through 360 photography. Personal stories of key figures of the battle are told through augmented reality and 3D animation including David Crockett, Santa Anna, and Jim Bowie.

well done.i waited 65yrs. to see somthing like this.would love to see a longer video . i grew up in the 50s and the 60s and my brothers and myself would play the alamo with our toy soldiers.thank you for making a old man day.

Been an Alamo enthusiast my whole life since I saw John Wayne's version and The Last Command with Aurther Honeycut when I was a kid. But this is absolutely fascinating. The attention to detail is Amazing. Good stuff !

It seems that this project is enhancing more fables of the Alamo battle. At a glance, first of all, the battle took place in the dark, and lasted about 30 plus minutes till about 5:45 to 6 a.m. After the Mexicans captured the Alamo cannons, they blasted the Alamo defenders apart, resulting in about 100 of them running for their lives outside the east walls. There they were killed by General Sesma's lancers. And let's don't forget that Crockett surrendered to the Mexican soldiery only to be executed moments later. Travis committed suicide at the north wall when he saw all was lost, and Bowie was slain on his cot, never using his famed knife. The truth hurts, doesn't it folks?
