Exquisite video!!! Put me right there, even though I was in my sleep recliner in Wellsville NY. Thank you for all the wonderful videos! They are a gift to us who are "landlocked" & ache as we miss being there.
The Philip R Clarke.. a spectral sight as the Clarke slides through.. chills up the spine as her searchlight throws an eerie glow on the piers and then she disappears into the night...as phantom clouds float by a full moon...and then she reappears moving ahead into the darkness again...like a ghost in the night. This is an awesome mysterious catch of a Laker in a magical night scene. Beautifully captured...thank you!
What a great looking vessel with all of the rolling foggy clouds, the different light colors and all of the bridges and structures. And above it all the moon. It is always fascinating how fog and lights combine to make such a unique view. Thank you.
WOW!!! Another moment where everything came together for an incredible viewing experience. Thank you for the time invested (and sleep lost!), to document the Clarke's passage in the fog.
So grateful for your 2 a.m. “wanderings” - this was spectacular! I often wonder if the crew ever watches any of these fantastic videos? What a difference from the canal to the bridge 😮
I’ve had a few comments from ship crew in the past, but I’m not sure how many watch. Perhaps not everyone wants to watch videos of their workplace while on their free time. 😁
Defies words. I wish I could have seen that in person. Stunning, beautiful, peaceful, enthralling, and more. I love what fog does to an atmosphere like this.
WOW !!!!!! Great camera work and editing by you to make for a totally awesome catch. Like other comments, this is why we keep coming back to you for spectacular views of these magnificent ships. Thank you for your dedication.
@@1Long2Short The 'Thanks' go to you for all of the time and effort you put into taking excellent videos, doing great editing on them, and always providing interesting info. Yeah, that's the stuff! So much respect for you and the fellas on them ships that make this country go around. Thanks from N.Y., Lake Ontario adjacent.
Exquisite cinematography......and great sound effects! I agree with Carolyn's comments below, about the eerie atmosphere. It took me right back to about 1958, when I read my first Hardy Boys book, "The Phantom Freighter".....!
Great video! It’s always amazing seeing these ships come out of the darkness at night… if it’s incredible seeing them materializing out of the mist. I just got back from Duluth, where I saw multiple ships, including my favorite, the Arthur M. Anderson, which arrived sometime around 10:40pm, and departed along with the Michipicoten around 3:30 the next day. It was the first time I’d ever seen two ships depart at the same time. Also, I have a question. In the part of the video where the Clarke is rounding Rices/Connors point (I’ve heard it called both things and idk which it is, or if either of those are the right names), were you at the end of the old Interstate bridge or on the land?
Thank you! I was at the end of the old Interstate Bridge. Also, Rice’s Point is the name applied to the Minnesota side. Connor’s Point is on the Wisconsin side. Hope you enjoyed your trip! Seeing two classics depart under one bridge lift is a rare experience these days. 🙂
I need a thesaurus to find the right words to comment on this ~ magnificent; spooky; scary; unbridled power; strange; mystifying; jaw dropping are just a few of the words that come to mind. Wow. I am so grateful that you seek out these magnificent ships, and weird weather and deep-into-the-dark times to bring this to us. I can only say that when fog blankets my farm and the horses come walking out of it it's pure magic, and so is this. Thak You! *****
Thank you as always! The Clarke actually took me by surprise when she came out of the fog. I was setting up my tripod in a new position, thinking the Clarke was still out on the lake… but nope, she was already in the canal and bearing down towards me! 😳
And we thank you for your diligence in the chase, just beautiful footage!

Thanks Carolyn! It was a very atmospheric night! 🌙 👻
Damn near ghostly how they slip in.

Spectacular! Like what you would see in a monstrous special effects movie but this was reality that you recorded wonderfully.
Mother Nature is the original SFX artist! 🙂
Great video showing the PRC with all her lights on coming through the canal in the fog. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
A beautiful sleek laker, foghonks, asmr, the moon and cool lighting! Doesn’t get much better than that!
Thank you! 🙂

I love that fog horn
Makes such a won derful call in this fog. Fantastic.😢 photography
Thank you!
It's like shooting an ILS approach to a socked in runway.
No go-arounds if you miss!
Fabulous video!! I love seeing big ships in the fog with all they're lights on!! Goose bumps!!
Thank you! 😊
Love the sound of that horn as the vessel goes under the lift bridge. Just had to re-wind and listen again.

A+!!!
The perception and highlights are drastically changed at night in fog. Without question a great catch
Thanks! 🙂
Thank you for your commitment. This is an absolutely striking video. Wow. Just wow.

It's incredible how quiet these ships are given their size. Like giant phantoms.
Amazing!
Thanks!
Great photography. One of my favourite lake boats. So atmospheric. Thanks.😊
Many thanks!
Great video! Thanks, long boat maestro.
Thank you!
This was amazing Paul. Massive thumbs up.
Thanks… except I’m not Paul. 😉
@@1Long2Short you are correct. Sorry..this is a cool video.
Wonderful.
The ghost comes out of the night!!
Well done, a beautiful video
Thanks! 🙂
oh my
It was so quiet it was eerie. The metallic sounds we heard when she was going
under the bridge, was that the ship or traffic on the bridge?
If you’re referring to the clanking sounds, that was the deck crew were removing the clamps on the hatch covers. 🙂
@@1Long2Short Thank you
Good stuff. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Wow....
you must be using an ultra high resolution lens or something, makes for an outstanding video!
Thanks! I actually reduce my resolution at night for better low light performance. 😉

boat horn is vry different at nigh and in the fog
Geez, ships built like that look like they could split in half. But is pretty.
Unfortunately some have split in half. 😔
Monster, no need to unzip my fly (period)

On that night I got up at midnight, 2am, and 6am for ships. So not much sleep! 🙂
