Brilliant tuitional video Andy. This will change everything I am currently doing in method feeder fishing, from preparation, baiting, loading, and casting. A really true eye opener, to perfecting a proven method of fish catching. This video will double my weights on my favourite method, I am absolutely certain. It proves 100%, how getting things perfectly right, in different stages, can catch a big weight of fish. I'm absolutely stunned by this video. Please keep em coming Andy, your tuitional clips are the best on You Tube.

      @@paulr112
Ok, so it is more common for more expensive rods to be sold on the premises that a higher test curve is better.
      Many wrongly believe this.
Like with most things higher numbers sounds better right.
Having read your comment again, I think I missed some details...
OK so you are using a hair.
How are you attaching the bait to the hair, how long is it. These are things worth considering.
How well is your bait fixed to the method also, what are you using on the method.
Really, smaller fish should be eating the ground bait/pellets rather than a larger mouth fall. Not saying it is impossible.
It is also possible that carp are sucking up your hook bait, noticing the hook and spitting it out without your knowledge.
Sounds crazy I know but it does happen.
One way they do that is with the weight of the lead funny enough if its fixed say.
Fishing is actually bloody complicated and what works for someone somewhere doesn't always work in another spot.
A cheap rod is also pretty much never the reason behind success or failure.
I have rods ranging from £12 up to £350 and alsort in between.
I have never lost or caught fish because of a rod. But that £12 toy rod and reel is extremely fun to catch a 8lb carp on :)
I mentioned rods with high Test curves as those are designed for casting heavy weights out long distances.
But as a result are often not very good at playing fish and for the inexperienced cause a lot of issues.
I wondered if like many you were miss sold a broom handle :)
Your method could even be landing incorrectly and knock bait of the feeder.
In my experience most things are down to human error.
I'm not saying I'm an expert or don't make plenty myself by any means...
I'm just like you and learning and always will be. Sorry if it seems as such, but please don't think I am putting you down 👍
Its just the last thing I wanted to do, was give you the impression you needed to go out and buy an expensive rod to solve your issue 👍

    • @paulr112
      @paulr112 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mastodonseven Thanks for the indepth reply. I`m actually using a carp set, which has a 2.75lb test curve . I`ve used them and we`ve caught plenty of sub 10lb carp. But on a couple of occasions I used the method in this video and had lots of issues with the bait just coming off. Quite often without any bite registered. So previously i wasnt really soaking the bait for this long. Would get there, put the pellets in water and then use a hair rig with band and that would be fine the bait was still quite hard and would stay on. But with the method in the video i tried with the stop method and the hook bait was very loose on the hook so i think literly one bite from the fish and theyd have it.
The pellets were in a flask with ice and i followed the advice but no luck. I went back to my old way with the band method. cheers

Looked like Andy’s rod was pointing directly at the feeder rather than being at an angle. That’s OK but won’t show drop backs which you get a lot of when tight against far bank and rod won’t take the strain of big bites as well when straight compared to when rod is on an angle as the bend helps. Am I wrong?
