That was so much fun to go through those catalogs with you! Takes me back to all the years with my mom every year we would get the Swiss colony catalog and that was the one we would just go wild and order what we wanted. Petite fours, those tort cakes, the cheese sampler, it was a blast! Getting all that stuff in the mail and trying different foods, that was Christmas for me! Today, I got out my Christmas jewelry to wear, my Santa bear button and my snowflake earrings and my jingle Bell necklace, so I'm on my way! Big hugs!

Man, I can't even remember the last time I sat down and seriously looked through a catalog. I certainly did so when I was younger, in the pre-Internet days. I fondly remember looking through catalogs as a kid in order to put my Christmas list together. Good times. Now with the Internet though I admit I don't even think about it. I do sometimes get catalogs from Christianbook, and I've briefly glanced at them. But other than them, I'm not even sure if any retailers I care about still produce catalogs anymore.
I think I remember having a conversation about this with you once, a long time ago. I am actually surprised to see how many catalogs are still in existence. Of course, not like you and I remember with these big fat Sears or JCPenney type. The ones you get now are not so comprehensive. No Christmas list making in quite the same way. Lol. I would not have ordered this many catalogs, personally. I ordered something from one and all the sudden, wee! Everybody wants to send me a catalog. Alas, Amazon is my only catalog. And it’s online. 🥲

I actually am glad to know that retailers are still sending catalogs out. I usually hate it when the old ways of doing things die. And while I also do so much of my shopping on Amazon, it's good to be reminded that they're not the only game in town. I am a little terrified at how they sometimes seem to be slowly marching toward a monopoly of the retail world. Speaking of catalogs and also of supporting retailers who are NOT Amazon, if you ever order anything from Christianbook they will start sending you catalogs. And these aren't little dainty things. They are thick, old school catalogs that have a ton of items in them.
Agree with everything you say! Now that my husband and I are getting older, we both take advantage of Amazon. It’s getting to where our basic responsibilities in life take up so much energy and time, that we are thankfully relieved to have things delivered to our door. But the implications are truly awful. I have gotten a few catalogs from a Christian book company. I wonder if it’s the same one that you get. Thankfully, it does not come very often.

Their name is simply Christianbook, and they have been in business over 40 years. They sell all sorts of Christian paraphernalia, so you may want to check them out. I order from them sometimes just to support a Christian retailer and to not give Amazon ALL my mail order dollars. I'm not sure how they do it, but they also have figured how to get things right to your front door!
