    When she sings "let us die to make men free," there's no way not to get chills all over your body.

    Judy was an incredibly sensitive and emotional person who always sang from the heart

    watch how she whips that mic wire. If she could have strung up the whole world--all the hate and evil and pain she would have. Pure emotion. And that standing ovation went on and on...

    Judy’s show was live on Sunday night. This was shown just after President Kennedy was killed. JFK was her very close friend and she opened this song with “This one is for you Jack”, it was removed because the network thought it was too political. Love Judy ☮️❤️

    That was a stellar performance from Judy Garland's soul.

    The history of this song alone always makes it an emotional experience, and Judy Garland's is one of the few singers who can bring me to tears with just the sound of her voice anyways, the two combined??? forget about it🤧

    Judy was pissed, confused, resolute and determined to find her way through the terrible assassination, like we all were.

    Wow, you were invested in that song. You spoke of Judy’s physical expressions possibly describing her emotions during her performance and yet the same could be said of your facial expressions here. The strain of concentration and, perhaps, connectivity were visible on your face. To my mind, that is what reaction videos are about. Being genuine, not forcing an emotion or expressing admiration nor interest when there is none. Rather, simply appreciating good music. Keep up the good work, Dani.

    This was so wonderful. I loved this video and your honesty and openness about your feelings and observation toward a woman that was so suppressed and belittled in her life as she was mocked and called the ugly fat hunchback and compared to Lana Turner and Liz Taylor and was told too bad you aren't as pretty as them....she didn't know how beloved she was until her later years when she sold out concert halls and got to see her fans one on one. Also, I grew up with one of the Kennedy family members as my grandmother was their maid for almost 40 years. They were like family and kept my Nana on because she was true family. As a kid my own family lived in a gated community while my grandmother and I lived in 3 rooms and the kitchen stove heated our home. I was on a kids show and later went on to be a male model (which was ridiculous as they airbrushed chest hair on me that I didn't have at age 16 in highschool!) I did the 90s teen dramas and sitcoms....and do you know who always showed up? Joan K, my grandmother and my Mum....to this day I remember what it was like to be loved by people that were not of my blood but were my family. I wish I could remember my favorite Kennedy...Bobby. Apparently my siblings and dad said I was the bastard child of Bobby....I assure you I am not...but, whenever the adults would reminisce they would say Bobby told my grandmother that he wished I was his boy because all children were God's kids....black or white....or blond in a family of brown haired as*holes. Also, Judy was a good friend of Jack Kennedy and whenever he was overwhelmed he'd get Judy on the phone to sing Over The Rainbow. If you watch the Crown when Jack and Jackie met the Queen following an engagement in France that was a huge success because Jackie stepped in because Jack had an autoimmune disease that came out of remission during the European tour...he would call Judy wherever she was and she would council him...like a Mum.

    Judy Garland and myself where born in the same town, her childhood home is a museum now. My sister was obsessed with the Wizard of Oz and got to meet a handful of the cast of WoO at the house. A pair of the ruby red slippers was stolen from the museum and weren't recovered till years later, the area's full of iron ore Mines and everyone figured the slippers had been dumped into one the Mines by the theif.

    After the Judy finished this song, she looked straight at the camera and said, "That was for you, Jack." The executives at CBS cut her saying that -- and that was terrible, because she loved JFK and the viewing audience knew it -- and it would have been so wonderful to see. It is great that the story of her not wanting to perform right after the assassination -- but CBS said no one would remember John Kennedy in two weeks. She had to sing -- and she sang it for him.

    I remember when this kind of patriotism was expressed openly in our country and it is sorely missed today but I believe in miracles and the memory of JFK lives on, perhaps in ways we don’t yet understand, but will. what a great performance by Judy Garland! Thanks for showing this Dani!

    CBS did not want her to do it. They censored it so she left the last minutes of the show on the official document that went to execs blank. She and the late president were great friends and the CBS cut what she said just before she sang the song out of the show. She looked into the camera and said, 'this is for you Jack'

    Dani, Battle Hymn of The Republic by Judy Garland was superbly and amazing too. Judy Garland daughter Liza Minnelli have amazing voice herself. You would think its is the singing voice of Judy Garland coming out of her mouth, both of them almost sound the same.

    Can you, or anyone, explain the meaning of this at 3:11 "Be me feet, my jupithee."

    • @texasps91
      @texasps91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She is saying,
      He has sounded forth the trumpet
      That shall never call retreat;
      He is sifting out the hearts of men
      Before His judgement seat;
      Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him;
      Be jubilant, my feet;
      Our God is marching on.
      (To answer The Father as He sounds the trumpet, no retreat, but be obedient to His call
      to march on.)

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@texasps91 Thanks for the words of the hymn, which anybody can google, but that is not what Judy is singing. Listen carefully. If you don't know the meaning, you're not alone. Maybe somebody else does.
