It was an honor doing this and it amazes me how similar the pidgin and patios are! e too dear vs e too cost, weh yuh deh vs where u de? Gimme is actually the same Thanks so much for the shoutout, mention and promotion, I do appreciate it LadyRowe
a lot of the word are similar but it has ben lost through the years. I can still remember my grandmother in Trelawny telling me 'i gwine sound yu yuh si
@@joejulian617that’s not true it’s just different writing styles. Dey in pidgin could be written as de,dae, deh it’s pronounced the same and used in the same way. Only thing is in pidgin deh is used in more ways
Empress you are so intelligent and beautiful and I can understand you easily. Enjoyed the comparison. Love this educational and cultural presentation. Great job sis.
‘hey what’s up’would be “how you dey” in nigerian pidgin English. that’s our most popular phrase for greetings. Nice video I enjoyed learning about patwa phrases
I notice the word 'De" in the Nigerian pigeon English a lot. The word De (Deh) is used in the western part of Jamaica, from Trelawny westward. Example, People in the East of JA will say, me a come, or mi a go. In the west most people will say mi deh go, and mi deh come.
It amazing how similar the intonations..I have some Jamaica friends in Windsor Ontario Canada and am more comfortable with them than any north American
Nigerian pidgin for "I will slap you" has even far more dynamic interpretations. Here are some >>> "I go sound you" "I go light you" "I go woze you" "I go backhand you" "You go chop slap" "You wan see stars?"
I am going to correct few things the Nigerian didn't get right English. Pidgin What is the cost. How much e be? It is too expensive. E too cost You are beautiful. You be fine boy/girl See you later. The Jamaican word unu is from Nigeria, unu ready ,unu listen to this etc, in patwa we say dat instead of that, we Jamaicas speak Patwa in an African grammar although a lot of the words are from English, we don't use th sounds ,so we say dat instead of that, we Don't use the St sound so we say tan instead of stand.aweh unu a gu, means where are you all going in English .mi naa goday again in English I'm not going there again
