I saw RAYE in concert last month. She performed this song, and she couldn't make it all the way through without crying. We were all crying. But we were there for her, and we all appreciate how brave she is for telling this story to make others feel less alone.

when you said "this is not what i expected from the title" I feel like thats a deliberate part of the story telling, you dont expect someone professional/trusted to hurt you (the ice cream man)

Also a representation of that first brutal day you leave the naivety of childhood and enter the real world! These idealised innocent figures from our lives who we trust unconditionally, only to realise there's something horrible underneath

This song has helped me as women to not feel so alone in all the sexual abuse that has happened to me starting at age 4 & continued throughout my life.
Believe it or not there are Countless children, women & men that this happens to and we keep it inside. Don’t say a word because of what they say; feel like it’s our fault. It takes away self esteem, confidence, pride and worth to name a few.
As a parent the best thing you can do is be open and honest with your kids starting at a young age (age appropriate conversations Very early in life) If every parent did that it would help children speak up to stop it from happening or at least let the parent know.
If it’s happened to you, it’s not your fault. You didn’t ask for it. It’s their sickness & You are Beautiful 🫶✨

Yeah I bawled my eyes out the first (few) times I heard this song, then a couple tracks later a song called Body Dysmorphia wrecked me again. I would seriously recommend doing a full album listen/reaction from intro to the end… there’s a deliberate journey she’s taking you on with the order of songs, words or ideas that lead and carry on through the story she’s telling you of her life up to that point. It’s a rollercoaster of emotion and reflects how she dealt with the things she was going thru. I appreciate you feeling her/our pain and sharing that with us. ❤️✌🏻🫶🏻

I was raped at 15 and got pregnant from it. My son is now 25 and after 26 years I finally got the name of my rapist and saw a picture of him in prison. I never said a word because back then it was frowned upon to speak up about this stuff. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. I remember every detail right down to what was on the tv. I tried to leave and he blocked the door. I froze and got nervous. Not all rape is violent and it could happen to anyone anywhere. I’m now healing and getting closure at 40 years old. I’m a brave strong woman and now I’m protective of every young woman in my life. I’ll never forget what happened to me but I’m forgiving for I will not let that man have any more power over my life. God will deal with him accordingly. Fathers and mothers please listen to your children. Do not force them to trust every one around them it’s not healthy and it’s setting them up for abuse in this world. Children need to be protected at all costs.

I had to pause this a few times. I have never heard of this artist before until I clicked on this video. Added her to my playlist. What I like about your reactions is how you are able to emphasize and hear the deeper meanings behind lyrics. This one was more obvious but I hope you understand what I mean. I’m feeling a little out of sorts after watching this video with you.

I know this is a hard song to hear, but I really appreciate you for sticking thru this. It’s something that too many of us have experienced. Raye was so strong for putting into words what so many of us haven’t been strong enough or able to. ❤

Thank you so much for saying the last part. Men are not animals. Like wtf. People don't understand that sexual violence is about power, not sexuality. How can you not get it?

This is a great reaction. I can feel your love and concern for your kid, and maybe (I hope!) for your future daughter. Of course, the thing is, this stuff happens to girls and boys as you know. It's awful. I get it's hard to confront and think about, probably especially when you're a parent. Big hugs for your honesty and realness - that's some true, good man stuff right there. Hard to say what I mean - just, thanks. XO

The sad fact is that until men.. true men stop this, it will keep happening. Call your fellow men out! Even if its uncomfortable for you!!! Call them out on their words and actions, and if they do awful shitn like this make them feel more pain than they made us feel!!! Stand up for your mother's, Sister's, daughters and all women who are others mothers' sister's. And daughters!!! Men good men need tk stand TF up!!!!!!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY PLEASE!

This is an uncomfortable subject for a lot of people but it needs to be brought out into the Light because it happens way too often & not talking about such things only keeps it in the Dark! Good on Raye for covering such important issue's with her music & platform.
