Considering the age of this post, I'm sure you know that this was about Sid, who wasn't lost In death but to schizophrenia. Give Pigs (three different ones) a go.
The Wall was my late wife's favorite Pink, she passed away in 2015. It's all good we had 38 great years together, everytime I hear this song I think of her.✌️
Same with my father! I was blessed to know, learn and watch him for 42 years.. he should've been gone long ago, I was prepared to find him overdosed as a kid and never came. After 20+ years of sobriety, we found him the way he wanted to go I guess. With a video and all. I'm so thankful that the Lord saw fit for him to stick around while we grew up! Cheers mate! This song was about their original guitarist, Syd Barrett, who lost his mind after too much acid and couldn't function at one point. During the recording, Syd came to visit them in the studio. He had turned from a frizzy-haired hippy kid into a chubby, bald, middle-aged man who was obsessed with brushing his teeth every few minutes. He was there, but he wasn't there.

My husband had a stroke and lost a lot of his cognitive abilities at 26 yrs old. This song felt completely about missing who he used to be. I then played it at his funeral when he died at 58 yrs old.
@@AlexSolomon91 it was especially hard for me. I talked to him daily. We lived 3 hours away from each other. I was trying to get him moved up to my place, but he didn’t make it. It’s a shitty club to be in. Sending light and love!!

it's about Syd Barrett.. it's so sad. When I hear this song, I think of my son who passed. We lost him several years prior to his death to addiction. Glimmers of him came back during covid after when he got clean for two months. We were all home and got to spend a lot of time with the old Matthew, but then he relapsed and died. But the years of him being out there, missing him, wanting him to come back home and be himself... that's what this song feels like to me... just longing and missing and being powerless...
I love watching you and other young people’s reactions to the music I grew up listening to. Now you see why us boomers are stuck in the 70’s. We had the best music of all time 😊
As a millennial who just hit 30 and finally got around to getting my turntable set up with a good pair of headphones (the right way as I've been told before lol), It's definitely more of an experience than just "songs on an album". Just taking the time to sit there and listen from side A to B to end with the lyric booklet was something else. Never forget: There is no dark side of the moon, really. Matter of fact, it's all dark. :)
Impossible to choose a favorite of from Pink Floyd, but this is my favorite one, it's deeply personal. Seems that way for everyone I know that loves it. It is timeless, I never get sick of listening to it, and almost makes me cry everytime. Thanks Polo for doing these reactions.
My mom loved this band, this was her favorite song, I started guitar to impress her by playing it.... she passed 2 and a half years ago before I finished my first semester of highschool. I had this played at her funeral. Miss you mom. ❤

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (both parts) is a critical part of both this song and album. And yes, I get hypnotized by your machine :-) Love your commentary, also!
My best friend would have celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday, but sadly, she lost her battle with addiction 7 years ago. This song is so close to my heart because we both had a deep love for Pink Floyd. 🖤🖤🖤🖤 thank you for giving respect to such amazing classics

The left and right audio always gets me in this song. Really feels like I’m in a dark empty cell and he’s singing right next to me. With a box TV with nothing but white static.
Pink Floyd is known for the sonic atmospheres they create. This song is so simple, its acoustic and bare bones. And it ‘s every bit as impactful. I suggest watching this live from the Pulse concert. It’s not so much about death, more about the absence of someone who is still here but not really here or present. Such an amazing song because of its simplicity.
Wish you were here the crowd sings every word. I saw them on my birthday in the 90's in the pouring rain in Orlando. No one left. Everyone helped to push cars out of the mud. Including mine. Best birthday ever!!!! Lasers were awesome cutting thru the rain.
I started dating a tiny one in May of ninth grade. We were married and had two great kids. She passed, suddenly, at 44. ❤ Her favorite band was The Cure. Searched for your react video to Pictures but couldn’t find it. Loss is loss for life.
The Great Gig in the Sky! For pure emotion with no actual words. Clare Torry evokes so much emotion without singing a single word. Pink Floyd were geniuses when they asked her to sit in on this song.
I'm here, listening to this, thinking of my best friend since high school, like a brother to me. He also died of a heart attack at 45, 3 years ago. Coincidentally, my uncle also died of a heart attack at 45.
For their 20th wedding anniversary my mom gave my dad divorce papers. This song helped my dad through the divorce as well as his first year of sobriety. The "Two lost souls swimming in a goldfish bowl, year after year. Running over the same old ground, is how we found, the same old fears.... Wish you were here." was my dad's fave lines. He bought the poster of the artwork for this song and framed it. 11 years after his death I know have that very poster of his hanging on my wall.
My sister played this incessantly when she was learning guitar. This, Tangerine by LZ and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, (and all the Neil Young she could manage). She made me crazy listening to her practice this. She has passed now. The poetry in the lyrics is so well supported by the tone of the melody, that despite Katherine wearing it out, it has to be an all time favorite for me. Thanks for reacting to this.
I’m 53 and my favorite band is PF with my favorite song being Comfortably Numb. This may sound morbid but I told my 3 kids that when I pass I don’t want a traditional funeral. If they feel like doing something then a celebration of life would be cool but I want Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond played on repeat the entire time. And a dream of mine, which will never happen, would be to meet David Gilmour. I saw PF live twice…..1988&1995. Best concerts of my life!!!
