Man that was eye candy for me!! My Father was a Buick man and I am as well. I remember my parents first car was a 58 Buick! That's showroom gorgeous!!! I bet it floats down the road with air suspension!!
Hey, Bjorn! They really didn't get any more chrome and stainless than this! I couldn't believe the car when I first saw it at introduction in 1958! You've done truly a great job in photographing the car and describing how it fit into the Buick lineup of the day! Thanks! :) Jack
Hey Jack! Thanks for stepping by! In my mind, the Limited is one of the most beautiful cars ever! Thank you so much for the support on the video. Bjørn :)
When I was working my way through college, we had one in for a trans. It was so big we couldn't close the Bay doors. We had to set it back down on the ground, push it into the shop further. Then we could close the Bay door. Fantastic!
As a 14yr old girl i think ,oh wait ,i know we don't make beautiful cars like this any more! The american car makers of the past had style ,class ,vision and passion for their art,its real shame ,i've been to cuba and seen some beautys over their! God bless america am proud to be an american 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😍
Google User glad you know about the Broughams. My dad has owned 4 of them, but we own one currently. All original Brougham with original paint and interior. Only 30k miles on the clock. The one in the video is not ours. You can check out our Brougham here:) th-cam.com/video/VRHSL1k7Goc/w-d-xo.html
These are the types of vehicles that should’ve been priced at 50,000 or better not the modern generics that have no true details. How I wish I could own a beauty like this. So nice!!!
Saw one just like this only in black at a wrecking lot in southern Manitoba. It was very rusty but a beautiful car. I wish I could remember where It was.
Maybe a decade or thereabouts, in Lockport I saw a rough black Limited. I saw it only briefly, it was pulling out driveway, it seemed complete exterior wise (i saw all sides of it) but for a missing hash mark on the right side, it was flat black, wondering if it was the same car!
Surprising that the rear door and fender cove actually carry less chrome than the lesser models. Those model-distinct louvered taillights instead of the laundry flat-iron style on the lessers are the bomb!
Believe it or not: I know a place near Basel where two of those Beauties stand beside each other: One was bought online in Vegas by a young man. It was in good condition with an overhauled engine but disassembled. That way he could afford to buy it, ship it over and restore it to its former glory. His uncle bought an even rarer beast, a 58 Limited convertible!
nice to look back at this the greatest design era for the automobile instead of the homogenous one that we're in now where they all look the same and you have to read the name plate to know what you are looking at
wow, that one is a stunner. gorgeous...beautiful colors. it looks to have every option on it...of course why wouldn't you spec every option on a Limited?...the spotlight/sideview mirror combo is cool. would be interesting to know if its still on airbags...they were all recalled at the time. I have a '58 Fleetwood that was on air but on coils now, but all the copper lines and valves and the compressor are still on it...there is an outfit, at least at one time, that rebuilds all the factory components. there are many details on the Buick that are actually nicer than the Cadillac...the dash is definitely got a lot more going on and the A/C is much more integrated. fabulous
Thanks for watching! Yup the original airbags are still on:). My father owns a 58 Brougham with original airbags. The Brougham is an all original 30k mile car, with original paint interior etc...
When I was a kid the Olds, Buick, and Cadillac dealerships were owned by the same family. They had one of these Limited Sedans in the showroom and I loved it. It had less chrome on the sides than the other models. Today when I see the pictures I think, I wonder how much it weighed and what was the gas mileage. We had a 58 Chevy convertible with a big engine that got 10 miles to the gallon in town. But my mom loved it because she said she was first off the light.
Flight Pitch Dynaflow was one of the most sophisticated fluid drive transmissions ever built, and certainly the smoothest. If it had only had a lockup clutch included in the triple turbine, it might have become a mainstay transmission for Buick (and Chevrolet as Turboglide) instead of being discontinued for inefficiency and complexity and replaced later by the ubiquitous 3-speed Hydramatic as GM merged all its platforms, killing the uniqueness of (and brand loyalty to) all its different nameplates.
This was a 2 year only trans - 58 and 59. Chevrolet had the similar Turboglide. It lasted from 57 - 61. Neither was replaced, all 1960 - 63 Buicks used the "regular" DynaFlow that came out in 48. This and the Chevy Turboglide didn't have a "LO", rather had GR Grade Retard range. You were not supposed to try to accelerate in it, but people did anyway, and would destroy the trans.
Breathtaking. Magnificent excess. Perfect representation of 1950's era automotive styling. Absolutely flawless restoration. The people who brought this Buick to its present condition are artists and consummate craftsmen. My chin is on the floor. Thank you for sharing this incredible work of art. One question: In addition to the A/C compressor, there is another compressor. What is its function? Air suspension / load leveling? Thank you
Hey man! Thanks for the support, and Thanks for watching! The second compressor is actually for the factory airsuspention so you’re right! Thanks again:)
@@youngexotics2155 The air suspension systems in late '50's GM products were notoriously unreliable. Most people who had them (I'm thinking of the Eldorado Broughams) replaced the air bags with coil springs. Did you use modern air-ride suspension pieces? To interface those with the original compressor is fantastic engineering!

HI GOD BLESS... I REALLY DO LIKE THIS SONG. I DO AGREE THAT SHOWING THIS CAR MIGHT HAVE BEEN REALLY COOL IF THERE WERE TWO OTHER SONGS AND THE OWNER SHOULD HAVE TALKED ABOUT HIS HISTORY WITH THE CAR BUT THEN THIS ONE SONG IS WHAT SETS THIS VIDEO ABOUT A CAR SEPERATE FROM ALL OTHER CAR VIDEOS. IN FACT IT MAKES THIS VIDEO EVEN BETTER BECAUSE IT IS DIFFERENT NEW APPROACH TO SHOWING OFF A CAR THAT I WOULD BE PROUD TO OWN.
Former misguided child of the 60's here. When me and my car mad cronies would see one of these smokin down the road back then, driven by a guy with suspenders and a straw fedora we were, ahem, well derisive. Sometime after 1960 they not only turned the page on car design, they burned the book! Cars like this were just SOOOOO uncool you prayed your dad came home with, hell, a '60 Falcon rather that a used Buick. Nobody told us that these were living, moving, driveable Mid Century American Art at its finest. Sorry Pops, we were wrong.
Wow! Did you see that ass end of a car. Chrome on top of chrome what a beauty and that colour out of this world. Amazing video LOVE all the close ups of the chrome great angles shots. A true American classic. But that music totally sucks! Big Time. Time to reedit that shit out. Cheers 🇨🇦
A very pretty car. It looks like a Buick should. Big, massive, heavy and stylish. I preferred the horizontal side spear trim verses the hashmarks this one has on the rear fenders, but the rest of the trim is spot on. The only thing out of place is the red rims. My choice would be body color or black. Red wheels were an after sale fashion fad of the time. Not something that would come on this car from the factory with this color combination.
Very rare to see such excellence in the dashboard and upholstery on this era of cars. Too many times the upholstery is way off from the original design and the dash vinyl is warped.
When new they were a lot of work keeping up their appearance. That grill with hundreds of chrome nobs was a real pain during "bug season." Hours were spent to wash the car and do it right. The air conditioners were either freezing cold or off, there seemed to be no regulating them, and people smoked like chimneys, so if you cracked a window for fresh air the effects of the A/C were lost. They were delivered from the factory with 2-ply tires! Really! Just a blowout looking for a place and time to happen. The factory Delco battery might last a year. The suspension had to be greased when the oil was changed, the transmission was just a two speed, a relic at the time, and the fuel mileage was single digit. I don't miss them, and in some ways they were an embarrassing statement of the priorities of Americans.
What a beauty the aqua color is awesome I would put 1/2 inch white walls on and got rid of those huge white walls for a more elegant look! can you point to the way to the bathroom!

No manufacturer in the world, not even Rolls Royce, made cars as elegant as this. Not then, not now. A true American 50's masterpiece.
Rolls Royce back then didn't even have cars half as luxurious as this Buick...

Every car exuded style like crazy back in the day. America built the best cars in the world I bet.
The pinnacle of chrome in American automobiles.

The tires aren’t right. They belong on a car from the 40’s. The Limited had narrow whitewalls like the Lincoln and Cadillac in 1958.
