It's a part of this community's evolution in language usage, and is a generational thing. It is sometimes considered by the older generations to be offensive, because being called queer was a slur in their times. It has since been "reclaimed" and used by this community for the following reasons; Largely, it's to be more inclusive. We should be a unified community, and it allows people to feel more included despite their possible differences in attraction and identity. It means you can protect some of your identity by stating you're queer, without specifying an exact labeled attraction that may cause social rejection or just feel too personal for a person to openly display to anyone. It also means that you don't have to constantly come out to people if your attraction changes, a different label suits you better, or you decide to go unlabelled. This is quite common in our community, and so just going as 'queer' reduces internal questioning over a current label, having to keep others informed, the anxiety related to having to come out to everyone again, and any other things. As @This doodo kindly reminded me, 'queer' is also used by people because sexuality is a spectrum and people experience attraction in a multitude of ways that can't be described by a restrictive label or a preconceived idea of what fits into one "box" and not another. It's freeing. As they describe it, "Sometimes you feel no form of attraction to a gender for a long/short time and then it comes back. So you just label yourself as queer." It's just a nice, inclusive word. It allows you to define what being queer means and looks like for yourself, too. Hopes this helps! Thanks for asking :)
@@Numbll It's complicated to explain and do excuse my morning brain, but I'll try. Attraction isn't a choice; it's just something your brain does and the physiological responses that come with it. It is a choice to engage in an attraction, though, which is leading into what I meant. What I was referring to was the idea of 'compulsory heterosexuality,' a.k.a. "comp(ulsory)het(erosexuality)". Basically, it's how heteronormative social pressures impact peoples' abilities to engage in their true attraction/s, let alone realise them. E.g. many queer women experience this and are forced into cis, hetero relationships with men. Despite not being into men, the heteronormative social pressures represented by the dominant BVAs of family, friends, and greater society push them into the relationship. Often comphet is internalised, meaning that people who experience it are so deeply entrenched in its impacts that they aren't aware of it until they figure it out (often much later in life), if they figure it out. So by me saying "your attraction changes" (I can see how it's confusing, possibly reductive, language), what I mean is the internal process of how someone's attraction is perceived, as in, you can discuss attraction as a "before and after" of understanding comphet and recognising it within yourself and your present and/or past relationship/s. There is no language to distinguish between this recognition and the quality of a relationship and the experience you get out of it, before recognising comphet compared to after. So "attraction changes" is the best way I can put it, because it kinda is. The brain patterns of those affected by comphet would show the body "lying" to itself by creating untrue feelings of attraction, and so you would count that pre-recognition stage to post-recognition as a "change in attraction". Literally because your body can fake attraction, but it just isn't felt as true as the "real experience". E.g. people affected by comphet feel like their relationship doesn't live up to what others explain attraction is: breathless at their entrance into a room, bright, floaty feeling, a source of life and energy, etc. After realising comphet, leaving that affected relationship, and possibly entering a new relationship that soothes their true attraction, people experience what is said when attraction is mutual and complete. I hope this makes sense. Ideas like this are still without proper language to explain it and I don't have a Doctorate in queer studies, so this is all me recognising patterns in peoples' relationship experiences and trying to explain it in my own language I can understand, and that can best convey what I mean to others.
@@someoldytaccount You explain well to me because since lgbt is well known right now there are some people who hop on and say they are… but they are not and for me that’s very disrespectful. So when I saw “attraction can change” I was huh? So now I understand where that was coming from.
@@Numbll Thank you for listening and asking for an explanation. It's important to weed out bigots by questioning what they mean, so thanks again. I hope it was informative :)

I only ask when I already knew that the line will be long so I can talk with somebody while waiting. But would go alone if no other one needs to pee. Another opportunity is, that I asked I girl to join me if I think she would be harassed if I leave her alone or be scared of me one.
Europeans have definitly more in common with east asians than US americans. Even when the LGBTQ in asia is not that supported they are more open minded and have more natural behaviour than straights in US. Asians should not compare only with US culture as "foreigners". There are much more cultures they will confirm that east asians are not weird or extreme or the only one doing xy. But to live such long time in Korea without learning the language is beyond me. Korean is the easiest asian language to learn, a beautiful and interesting language. Without the language skills you are living like a disabled human.

Lisoo as the thumbnail of a video about gay people, understandable😭
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not them using lisoo as their thumbnail😭😂
I like it u are all great
Am I the only one that likes to go to the women's restroom alone?
Nope
yeahh In Thailand you don't have to hide your secual identity, just be youself😄
Not at me screaming when I say that the first clip was Gfriend. Thank you for this videos, it's really interesting seeing the differences in culture.
Was that a Lisoo picture in the thumbnail???
6 years in SK and she barely knows Korean?? Lol
Yeah, that’s too much dependence on her spouse. She needs to immerse herself in the language. I’m deaf so I cannot speak much, but sign language only comes in two different types. She needs to learn the language before she gets too old.
@@taoist32 right. That’s a lot of dependence and I feel like if you’re going to be living in a country that long and interacting with the people you should at least try to learn the language.
So how many languages do you speak fluently?
@@DollfaceLizkah 2 sans English for a matter of fact. But what does that have to do with anything? Am I hating or dissing her? I’m simply inquiring about how someone can live in a foreign country for 6 years and seemingly not know much of the language. It’s something to be discussed and this video definitely invites that discussion. Thanks.
She can read, understand easy Korean. It's not like she knows nothing.
OH, my.. lol We are cute. Bahahaha
it is nothing to do with cleaning the seats women need to sit to pee men can do that standing up and all they need to do is unzip pull it out then put it back and zip, women need depending on what they are wearing pull things up and pulling things down and finally the reverse which all take time
What is the gay couple TH-cam channel call ? Or their insta?
You may know something about lisoo 😏
Wait wait 7:00 why younuse jungkook and jin as an example
7 years in a country and can barely speak the language ? that's the definition of making NO effort.
Still looking for Lisoo 😅
girls go to the bathroom to hang out in front of the mirrors together (sometimes)
Lisoo in the thumbnail sksjsksjs
You spelled weird wrong in the title
😂❤
Why do homosexual people call themselves queer instead of gay? This is just a question out of curiosity, I hope I didn't offend anyone. 💕
It's a part of this community's evolution in language usage, and is a generational thing. It is sometimes considered by the older generations to be offensive, because being called queer was a slur in their times. It has since been "reclaimed" and used by this community for the following reasons;
Largely, it's to be more inclusive.
So you just label yourself as queer."
It's just a nice, inclusive word. It allows you to define what being queer means and looks like for yourself, too.
Hopes this helps! Thanks for asking :)
@@someoldytaccount I thought you can’t change attraction like I thought it’s not a choice.
I still don't get why girls go in pairs to toilet :-D and I'm a girl :-D but it's true no matter where in the world you are the line is always long :-D :-D
Because when you go solo, a troll may find you ;)
I only ask when I already knew that the line will be long so I can talk with somebody while waiting. But would go alone if no other one needs to pee. Another opportunity is, that I asked I girl to join me if I think she would be harassed if I leave her alone or be scared of me one.
1:37 SHES SO REAL
Im trying to understand weird western brain now
Don't.

That butch lesbian is SO handsome hhh my heart
jinkook!!😭😭
I mean we go to the bathroom together cuz it’s safe to talk shit
If it’s about LGBTQ+ of course cover photo must be JenLisa 🤣🤣

American's are so cute haha!
💗💗
I feel like this video was aimed at me. Ouch.
I would like to say this. I am not sure where the girl from America is from but that stuff they talk about is common for the area I am living in… Well all except the touching butts. That is done only between close friends or family. You see sports people especially those on a team do it a lot.
I honestly do not know where this girl is from.
Hey! I was born in Pa and lived in the dmv for a while as well. Where are you from? I know you mentioned the sports thing about smacking your friend's butt which yeah ok but seeing a dude do that on a soccer field vs walking down the street or riding the subway is a big difference. I mean it really shouldn't matter, gay straight whatever you are. I dont speak for all of America obviously, it was just to point out what I personally might consider typical friend behavior vs couple behavior :)
