    Thank you so very much for this video. It has made me fall back in love with having goats. My queen goat was stressing me out but in less than an hour training session, she has become so much easier to work with over the last few days.

      I only need to reach for the squirt bottle and she gone! I think I've squirted my cat with actual water once or twice. I don't even bother filling the bottle up anymore.

      No - all you do is teach your cat to fear you. No reputable vet would recommend this - it's a very outdated, cruel idea.

    I have one particularly stubborn goat that is barely fazed even when I blast him with the garden hose. I figured out that if I add a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar to the squirt bottle it works wonders even with him!

    I have started using the spray bottle due to a few issues with goats. When I clean the barn or delivery of hay we started this training a few days ago.

    Hi Mark, thanks for all you do for the sport, I would love to see more videos like this about training, especially young goats. I have some pasture does that gave me 3 boys this year, wondering how best to get my boys ready for the trail! Thanks again

    I worked at an animal shelter and we used this exact same thing as a correcting tool for dogs in group play...it worked on about 60-70% of them, some of the others would just think it was a game and run at you to get more sprays lol, cool to see that it works so well with goats. Great Channel and thanks for sharing your passion for pack goats with the rest of us!

    I have two young goats that act like unruly teenagers. I’m 69 years old and 100 pounds so I’m afraid that as they grow they’re going to hurt me by jumping up on me.. I’ve already tried a squirt bottle, and your recommendation of this method of behavior modification is so helpful! Thank you, thank you! I want to get more goats and maybe I can now.

    Used your tactics on the wife last night. Works perfectly. The nagging got better and when she came back in the room for a towel she stayed back just like your goats.

    **This squirt bottle method worked right away with my Boer buck. He was always jumping on the fence, squaring me up, and overall aggressive if I got in his area. Now I use the squirt bottle and use those commands and his behavior changed right away. Easy results. Without being defensive towards your bucks. A weight of stress was lifted off my shoulders dealing with this before.

  • @Disteh

    I have 15 juvenile kids that I tried this with. Feed time was treacherous for my knees. This works great except for my new juvenile buck. He is stubborn and I think I need a fire hose for him. Ha ha.

    my goats get baths when it's hot, and they love it!! Punishment has never been a "good" way to train. Operant conditioning is proven as they get zero when wrong, but a treat when right.

    Helpful video... for a loud mouth goat that screams whenever I walk into the barn or I'm on the other side of the fence and she's not near me she screams.... drives me bonkers ... u think a squirt bottle would work for that

    My buckling pushes through the spray. The spray bottle seemed to stop working after he realized it's just like rain and rain isn't so bad. The doeling loves rain. So together, he learned to not care about getting sprayed and the spray bottle in ineffective on him.

    • @kralvltavin9173
      @kralvltavin9173 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Scooby Woo I tried tipping him (flipping him). But he got wise to it and that turned into a real struggle. It also stopped being effective because he learned that eventually he'll get out of it and when he does he's back on it.
      So... after several months of watching them play their headbutt game, I noticed that the "loser" is the one who's head gets pushed to the ground. He's good if I approach him telling him "no" or "no bullying" but if he insists on a challenge, then I just grab his horns and push his head down and hold it a few seconds. Then bleat in the same victorious fashion and he concedes.

    • @kralvltavin9173
      @kralvltavin9173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Scooby Woo he's not always challenging you when he seems to be. Since they communicate through their horns, then sometimes he's just happy to see you and may show that through nudging you with his horns. If you learn the difference between communicating a challenge and just excitement it might change your approach. If he senses you're coming in armed and ready then you're actually challenging him. Try coming to his pen with a treat and a gentle demeanor and kind tones and see if you get a different reaction. If you get a real challenge, you should learn his technique and how to counter it so you win consistently. Down all the way to the ground. I know the experts say don't rough house with the bucks but mine is a Dwarf so he's not much of a challenge. Although he is strong, fast and cunning. Since I win all the time, his respect levels are much higher now with me than they are with the others.
      Be sure to bleat in triumph before gently releasing him.
