  • I found these lyrics on an old songbook by which a friend sent to me by email. So, I decided to record it and sing it. These could be the original lyrics of this beloved march. ^^

    Translation:
The flags are high with oath ahead,
March on, ye Germans, man for man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
The flags are high with oath ahead,
March on, ye Germans, man for man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
The flags are high with oath ahead,
    March on, ye German man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
My Prussia stands, so proud and tall,
That is why I love it boundlessly,
God knows how many battles it fought
Victory gained by all its Kings!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
The flags are high with oath ahead,
March on, ye Germans, man for man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
And I love my King with all my heart,
We all follow him, man for man!
My King Wilhelm leads us at the front,
With heart and hand for the fatherland!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
The flags are high with oath ahead,
March on, ye Germans, man for man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
There is nobody in the world,
Who can take our victory away!
My Prussia stands, through storms and winds,
My King stands, through many battles,
And in battles, ahead of us,
Fly the true colors black and white!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
The flags are high with oath ahead,
March on, ye Germans, man for man!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
There is nobody in the world
Who can take our victory away!
So is the Prussian greeting and word:
Long live the King! It resounds thusly:
The King is great in pleasure and sorrow,
May the King lead us forever!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
    Glory, victory! Glory, victory!
Heart and hand for the fatherland,
    For the beloved Prussian land!
    Hoch Prussia! Hoch Wilhelm!

This was possibly written during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm I, who was King of Prussia before becoming German Emperor in 1871. The three German Emperors, Wilhelm I (1871-1889), Frederick III (1889), and Wilhelm II (1889-1918), also held the title of "King of Prussia," which Wilhelm II tried to retain when Paul von Hindenburg tried to get him to abdicate at the end of World War I. Wilhelm II soon realized that abdicating from one of his crowns meant abdicating from both of them, and come November 10th, he realized that. When Germany surrendered the next day, Wilhelm II abdicated.

@@DerKlaviermusiker315_ Preussens Gloria never had official lyrics. There have been proposed versions, and this may have been the earliest. There is another version written by Karl Strenau, which, while it does fit the music, is the version on Wikipedia. However, the fact that this march did not have official lyrics is why there are so few lyrical versions. I don't know your source, but from my research on Preussens Gloria, it had no official lyrics.
