I just want to thank y’all for doing these taste tests! I went vegan earlier this year and have used several of your videos for a reference when trying new things-so thank you again. I really love the Aldi brand sausage links but think they might contain egg? I look forward to trying the Beyond when trying to replicate a sausage and Rotel dip.
Yes they contain egg. So glad that you have found our content helpful! We recently used the impossible to make rotel dip! Here's the recipe: makeitdairyfree.com/vegan-rotel-dip/
Tina, and all reading- when i first went vegan i ate a lot of stuff like this. Trust me, try sticking to just whole foods, fresh fruit and veggies. My health was way better not eating dairy and meat but trust me - take it to the next level - and only eat fruit and veggies. I healed myself of fibroids the size of grapefruits by only eating fruits and veggies. This stuff is vegan junk food! 😊
@@BlueSky-uu6et yeah I definitely limit these things much more now. And I absolutely feel better when eating fruit and veg. But once in awhile I love a good diner style breakfast or a burger. Thanks for the info and I’m so happy for your healing 💖
I absolutely LOVE the new Impossible sausage (spicy 🌶). The one thing I have always missed when giving up meat was definitely the Jimmy Dean spicy sausage, and this is so reminiscent of that. I’ve purchased it multiple times, and even my meat loving husband says it’s delicious.
This was my first time watching your channel I had so much fun and I was laughing. Together you make a good team cuz you make us laugh and that's entertaining. I have a fatty liver so I need to look at other options for sausage that I could eat now that I'm older and overweight. Thank you for making such a difficult topic enjoyable for us. I'm glad I came to your Channel I know what to buy now for me.
Thanks for mentioning sunflower allergy. Just to clarify, folks like me who have that allergy are generally fine with sunflower oil because the proteins are removed. The issue is with the proteins, which are present in sunflower lecithin, sunflower seed and ground sunflower kernel/butter.
Same here. My husband has a sunflower allergy. However for him, sometimes the oil bothers him. Chips are hard, because so many brands list a bunch of oils as and/or and you never really know what’s in them. We’ve made the switch to Utz brand chips, because it’s potatoes, salt, and they list the specific oil used.
@@theresamnsota3925 It's interesting you mention that. Yes I'm also a bit cautious around "and/or sunflower oil" in chips. I'd say 95% of the time it's fine but occasionally my mouth and throat will itch a bit. I've noticed this in particular with "Kettle Chips" brand. I know that a lot of vegan products have been switching to sunflower products (especially sunflower lecithin) to avoid soy but this creates a real problem for me. To make matters worse sometimes products I've had before change their ingredients list and I fail to notice. So now I pretty much have to read the labels every time to make sure no sunflower lecithin, sunflower seeds, ground sunflower kernel. When I looked into the sunflower allergy, I read that it's the proteins that are the problem for people who have the allergy and that in most cases the processing of the oil removes the proteins, which is why the oil isn't typically a problem. But yeah it's possible. I just know that any product that contains sunflower lecithin is likely to cause a reaction and if there's even one sunflower seed or part of a seed in something, it's going to be really bad for me. For example, Ben & Jerry's Non-Dairy (NOT the sunflower butter ones) have sunflower lecithin. Technically I could eat it but my throat would itch and I'd end up with a terrible stomach ache so it's better to stick with brands that don't use it. When it comes to sunflower seeds, I have to watch out for "made in a factory that also processes other nuts and seeds" because I once had a breakfast bar that did NOT have sunflower seeds on the ingredients list but it did have that disclaimer and there must have been at least part of a seed in the bar because I had the worst anaphylactic reaction of my life (swollen throat and esophagus and stomach, hives all over, threw up 8x, so dizzy I couldn't even stand up).
@@JesseAaronSafir if you’re here in the States, and you’re wandering down the snack aisle, definitely look for Utz. We just had some last night, and like I said earlier just three ingredients. It appears that their cooking oil of choice is cottonseed. Also they’re a slight bit less salty than Lay’s, which I liken to a salt lick, so Utz has the perfect salt level.
Y'all have inspired me to go beyond Beyond. And THANK YOU for the heads up on Meatless Farms! You've inspired me to try the Whole Foods version, which is about 40 miles away. The very end of this video was hysterical.
Depends on how much oil you need in your recipe. Just Egg is mostly oil and typically replaces well in a cake recipe that needs more moisture. Vegan Egg is mostly leavening agents so it can be drying in a cake recipe that doesn’t need the extra oil.
I grew up on Morningstar my grandfather was a vegetarian, and the sausage you have to let it thaw out for 10-15 minutes then cook it on the stove, and the texture won't be like that. If you cook from frozen for the recommended time if won't cook all the way.
Thanks so much for doing these videos! I've taken your recommendations from other products, purchased and have loved them! You guys always make me laugh, especially Andrew, his expressions are priceless! You guys rock! Hope you feel better soon!
I’d love to see you guys taste test specific brands - full lines of vegan/plant based products with commentary, stating where you found them in greatest concentration. ❤️ Really enjoy you as a couple. I binge watch you.
For anyone interested, our local Sam’s just got in the Beyond classic breakfast sausages in a box of 22 patties for $13.48. This is much cheaper than the $5-6 per box of 6 that I was paying elsewhere.
I love the taste tests! The Beyond sausage is good but SO fattening, and personally, I *do* pay attention to the macros and it bums me out when the fat is so high. Usually it keeps me from buying the product. I'd love to see you guys compare natural cleaning products. Things like dish soap, surface cleaners, laundry detergents, dishwasher detergents, even drain cleaners. Rate comparisons could include packaging, level of cruelty free (totally cruelty free or parent company bad) and that sort of thing. I know I would appreciate that! It's not food, but it's a part of everyone's life (because personally, I just cannot use vinegar as a cleaner, I have a hardcore hatred of the smell!)
I always appreciate watching you two taste test 🤣 I’m with Andrew in that I don’t like jackfruit or mushrooms!!! I’ve not seen most of those brands but I’ve tried the Beyond and the Gardein and both are ok although I find them both really dry. I’ll be on the lookout for the impossible sausage because I prefer impossible over beyond when it comes to the faux ground meat as well.
Like your channel. On the up side this taste test was very comprehensive and I liked that, on he down side it was long and as such would recommend that at he end … break it down into a Visual Summary brands vs criteria vs score and recommendation. This is so interesting! I totally understand what Larisha says when she says, i think impossible has the best texture BUT beyond has the better taste! I feel that way so much with different vegan stuff. One will have the texture and the other might have the better flavor. Thanks for doing the homework for us guys. Thank for this video! I love love love all the flavors of Morningstar!! I have been seeing others that I've been wanting to try. Your video helped a lot! Next I think I'm going to try Gardein and Jack & Annie's!
It's OK, Andrew, you'll run out of test categories soon! The array of brands making vegan breakfast sausage is amazing, and these aren't even every brand, I don't think. What a time to be alive! ThanksForPosting : )
This sausage review is just in time for a retreat next weekend. I have to do the meals for a small group of ladies and wasn't sure what brand of sausage to go with. Now I'm going with Impossible yaay
Love your review vids so much! Pure Farmland has a plant based breakfast sausage in savory & maple flavor. I won’t try the sweet one, but really like the savory one. I like the beyond sausage links too. Can’t wait to try impossible. Still trying to find it.

Love your taste tests! I have found that I have similar preferences to you so that helps me decide to try something new. I like the Beyond best for a sausage patty. Couple reasons, no soy, I get plenty of that from other sources. Also the taste/texture especially when it's slightly burnt is amazing. The Impossible is a close second, we use it for biscuits and gravy, on pizzas, and in meatloaf. I don't use it as patties, it just isn't as good as the beyond but it's more versatile so we actually eat it more often. I have tried several of the others and they just don't compare. One that I would like to try is the Jack and Annie's but haven't found it in any of the stores near me, yet.
Hello, love your show. I and my husband love the morning star sausage paties. Haven't tried the beyond or impossible yet, but we will. Try with the morning star to maybe cook it longer. I do about 5 to 10 minutes longer. Try it. 😊 you may just like it.
@@MakeItDairyFree I'm vegetarian as of now eventually will be going vegan cause I know it's better. I recently got my husband to like vegan or vegetarian products which is a plus. Well you know I'm sure that it's difficult to cook for your family when they eat different. I'm working on it. There is hope! 😊
I have to add maple syrup to the Beyond Breakfast Sausage Classic patties, otherwise they taste a little off. I really like the Gardein, but sometimes, I still add maple syrup. I have the Impossible Sausage, but I haven't tried it yet. I was hoping to try that for breakfast one morning (maybe this weekend), but also maybe add it to some sauce for some pasta.
I recently tried the Impossible Sausage (both flavors) and LOVED them both! I like the versatility of the ground sausage as well (a big improvement on LightLife ground sausage!). The Beyond ones taste great, but are small for a breakfast sandwich. I liked the Jack and Annies one as well (but their Italian sausages are SO good! The seasoning is great...texture decent...I usually don't like jackfruit either, Andrew!). Great video!
The Impossible sausage makes great sausage balls! I've been veganizing family recipes all summer long preparing for the holidays. Impossible burgers are our hands down favorite, so when we found the sausage, we knew we had to try it for sausage balls. We used one tube sausage, one cup self rising flour and one cup Trader Joe's mozzarella cheese. Mixed everything by hand, rolled into balls and baked for 20 minutes at 350°. They were really good, but next time I'm going to add 1-2 tsp Orringron Farms vegan ham base seasoning and one tbsp coconut oil. I think that will make them perfect!
I’m new to your channel and haven’t done a deep dive so my apologies if this is repetitive... but some additional content ideas: Chopped challenges, where the kids or the audience votes via instagram? Or perhaps restaurant reviews? Or maybe even taste testing other viral recipes or “eating like _____ for a day” and veganizing the recipes/meals of popular chefs/celebrities/content creators, etc. Just some ideas! Keep it up - you guys rock!
My vegan sausage evolution over the last 15 years has been: MorningStar (has or had egg whites), Gimme Lean tube “which I would doctor up,” then Gardein for a long while until Beyond Breakfast patties came along but then they came out with the breakfast links which I ❤️more. Well this morning I finally had the Impossible bulk sausage and OMG WOW! Seriously, I’m pretty finished with the rest but the BYND links and Impossible. I don’t eat any on the regular but love that if I want that sausage flavor/texture it’s available in plant form. I’m 9 months tardy seeing this one but nonetheless thanks for another great taste test vid.
I love the Gardein ones! I've only tried the Impossible at Starbucks (no egg and cheese if course), and I love it! I hope the store version tastes the same. I'm excited to make biscuits and gravy with it. 🤤
I’m not vegan but trying to eat more plant based meals. I had beyond products and although the texture is about right, I just don’t like the taste of it. I’ve only had the impossible burger and ground beef and I liked those a lot more. I’m going to look for the sausage. Thanks for the info!
Love me some Jack & Annie’s! Also I would love to see a full cooking show of Christmas & Thanksgiving dinners. This is my first vegan holiday season so some tips would be fabulous! Love you guys!
I love both the Gardein and Beyond sausages - they both have their pluses and minuses - that being said, as someone who grew up eating Kosher, I wouldn't know how to compare either of them with a pork breakfast sausage. I do however love sage in my sausage beause that is the flavor I remember and associate with sausage...I feel as if both have that flavor of sage as part of their "spices," ingredient, so I guess that is why either of them work for me and I usually buy which one is on sale. As for the brands the only one I have been wanting to try was impossible. It wasn't availble for so long that I stopped looking for it, but beacuse of watching your video, I searched again, and the store I shop at has it. I will definitely be giving them a try in the near future.
I love all of your videos! Thank you for all of them. I can’t wait to taste impossible sausage for some reason the release in California is taking forever. Could you do a Thanksgiving side’s video?
I think the beyond breakfast sausage is great as a breakfast sausage. I like the light life sausage for biscuits and gravy. I have only tried the spicy impossible sausage but I don’t think it tasted like breakfast sausage. It was definitely meaty, delicious, and greasy but it taste more like sausage for a pizza
I make spaghetti with the impossible sausage and meat eaters can't tell. Sausage pizza too. Impossible spicy is my top all choice. You can do so much with it that it's mind blowing.
I love the impossible sausage when I can find it! ❤️ I’m hoping it will be more widespread soon! 🤞🏻 I just tried the Jack and Annie’s maple sausage links for the first time, and I really liked them for a maple sausage link! They smell delicious when cooking!
I love Hillary's. This is a good choice if you don't like the more realistic faux meat. The apple maple is the best one. Not overly sweet. I like to fry them in oil and get really crispy. I really like Beyond, but haven't had the Impossible yet aside from Starbucks.
As a lifelong vegetarian, I've been eating Morningstar Farms products for about 30 yrs. I loved them, and everyone I know loved them. Over the past few years they've been updating their recipes to keep up with healthier brands that now populate the market. And now, all my old favorites are trash.
I love Morning Star. I cook them from frozen and flip half way thru and cook a few mins extra. I’m huge on texture and I hate mushy food. Didnt love Beyond or Gardien.
@@MakeItDairyFree I had it many years ago before my vegan days. My sister has been vegetarian for many years. It always had a weird texture and a slight after-taste, but when they are the OG and had no competition, you ate what you got!!!
I'm gluten free and had only the beyond and the Impossible. I had both the spicy and the regular of both brands. I have never cooked them in a skillet, I have only pressure cooked in my instant pot, in a bowl covered with foil on top of a gluten free piece of bread. I do like them both but the beyond is my go to, I love it. The impossible doesn't taste like sausage to me, but is not bad. It is like a different product that needs to be made into new recipes, as it is good, just not sausage. I have been meat free though for 30 years.
I have alpha-gal allergy(mammal meat allergy) and I get impossible burger at Red Robin restaurants. It scares me a little to eat it because I worry they brought me the wrong thing. It tastes like I remember hamburger. That memory is 9 years pld though
My absolute favorite piece of cookware is a balti dish made by Le Creuset. They appear to have discontinued it, but if you see it on Ebay or a resale shop like a Goodwill, snag it. A balti dish is traditionally used in Pakistani cooking. It doesn’t have a lid, but I use it for so many things. Stir fry, fajitas, mac & cheese.
Lolol the reactions to Meatless Farms was hilarious. I like their breakfast sausage links tho. I’m not a sausage patty fan but I do like the Beyond Meat spicy ones.
I know this is from 2 years ago, but if you want to update it you should definitely check out Trader Joe's Meatless Breakfast Patties -- they're definitely one of my favorite breakfasts! And thanks for what you do!
I cooked my morning star longer I normally broil a little on one or both sides to get the texture better. Might help! But I didn't like the texture at first.
@@MakeItDairyFree No not at all. The kids really love it because of the soft chewy texture so I make there's like the package recommends but I normally broil mine might help but I know you might not buy it again. But maybe a good video going back trying brands you didn't like but cooking them another way idk just a thought since you ask for ideas.
What's the difference between breakfast sausage and ordinary sausage, apart from the shape? I've not been aware of the sausage patty things here in the UK. There's a Moving Mountain brand that does a sausage burger type thing but I've not had the desire to try it.
Natures fynd is a relatively new one, I like the flavor and that it’s made from fungi protein but the texture is a bit piecey/snappy? Natures fynd makes the best vegan cream cheese I’ve had followed by kitehill.
I've never seen vegan morningstar sausage patties. They're always vegetarian with egg and milk at my local stores. I looked it up and couldn't find a vegan one. Am I missing something??

No need to apologize! We appreciate the ideas and will take them all into consideration!
Awesome!
I've made sausage balls out of the impossible sausage and Daya cheddar cheese and it was perfect. You guys ought to really try making that.
I’m not vegan but trying to eat more plant based meals. I had beyond products and although the texture is about right, I just don’t like the taste of it. I’ve only had the impossible burger and ground beef and I liked those a lot more. I’m going to look for the sausage. Thanks for the info!
Nice work on the B roll!
thank you!
Great review 👍
Thanks! 👍
Yes please go live on FB as well!
Thanks for the feedback
This video is beyond helpful. Thanks!
we live u guys when you are getting along!!!! lol! stay on the same team !!
Don't we always lol
Love me some Jack & Annie’s! Also I would love to see a full cooking show of Christmas & Thanksgiving dinners. This is my first vegan holiday season so some tips would be fabulous! Love you guys!
Check out this video! th-cam.com/video/b3h5pc8JMzs/w-d-xo.html
L😍VE your kitchen shelves!!!! Really like the style!!!
Great review. We love the trader Joes meatless sausage - I'd would have loved to know how this compares to your favorites.
The TJs meatless breakfast sausage contains egg so that's why it's not included
Impossible has a frozen patty now that are great and you don't have to worry about storing whats left over like when you buy the roll. Very good.
I was super surprised by your reaction to Morningstar. Those are my go to breakfast sausage.
You like the vegan or vegetarian version? We are trying to figure out if we had a bad package LOL
@@MakeItDairyFree I like the vegan version. Maybe try the maple. Its way better than the regular.
I literally JUST grabbed the jack and Annie's breakfast sausage! Haven't tasted yet but I'll watch this review first haha
Great points
I make spaghetti with the impossible sausage and meat eaters can't tell. Sausage pizza too. Impossible spicy is my top all choice. You can do so much with it that it's mind blowing.
Sounds great!
Thanks!
I have no idea how we missed this but truly thank you so so so much. We appreciate your support more than you know
Yeah, not on IG. I love you guys, sincerely. I’m also going to attempt to make the red velvet cake later in October.
Thanks for the feedback! Enjoy the cake!
Gardein has a maple syrup sausage patty that is my fave!!
we didn't see that one just the classic or spicy
My favorite are the beyond sausage breakfast links!
Nice!
I love the impossible sausage when I can find it! ❤️ I’m hoping it will be more widespread soon! 🤞🏻 I just tried the Jack and Annie’s maple sausage links for the first time, and I really liked them for a maple sausage link! They smell delicious when cooking!
Awesome video! 👏🏼
Thanks!
I love Hillary's. This is a good choice if you don't like the more realistic faux meat. The apple maple is the best one. Not overly sweet. I like to fry them in oil and get really crispy. I really like Beyond, but haven't had the Impossible yet aside from Starbucks.
Agree!
As a lifelong vegetarian, I've been eating Morningstar Farms products for about 30 yrs. I loved them, and everyone I know loved them. Over the past few years they've been updating their recipes to keep up with healthier brands that now populate the market. And now, all my old favorites are trash.
Oh no
The Lightlife rolled sausage is good for biscuits and gravy!
Yes!
Beyond Sausage Spicy is AWESOME
nice!
I love Morning Star. I cook them from frozen and flip half way thru and cook a few mins extra. I’m huge on texture and I hate mushy food. Didnt love Beyond or Gardien.
Morningstar was reformulated to make it vegan. It use to have egg whites as a binder. That may be why it is mushy.
They need to go back to the drawing board LOL
@@MakeItDairyFree I had it many years ago before my vegan days. My sister has been vegetarian for many years. It always had a weird texture and a slight after-taste, but when they are the OG and had no competition, you ate what you got!!!
@@tialawson8742 hahahah I get that!
Beyond sausage is the best one and then I love Hilary’s too!
Impossible sausage... So good. Beyond sausage patty a close second
Yes!
I love you guys!!
I have alpha-gal allergy(mammal meat allergy) and I get impossible burger at Red Robin restaurants. It scares me a little to eat it because I worry they brought me the wrong thing. It tastes like I remember hamburger. That memory is 9 years pld though
I know this isn’t a taste test, but would you guys be able to do a video on top rated cookware?
We'll add it to our list to look into!
I’m definitely avoiding that meatless farm jawn 😆. I love the “not normal” description.
Their burgers are terrible too. Hopefully they can fix this!
lol no other idea what to say LOL at a loss for words
Lolol the reactions to Meatless Farms was hilarious. I like their breakfast sausage links tho. I’m not a sausage patty fan but I do like the Beyond Meat spicy ones.
I've only tried the meatless farms links and I liked them as well!
I like impossible better and beyond 2nd , gardein original in the black bag. I'll try Jack and Mary ... Anne's.
Is the Impossible seasoned like a breakfast sausage?
I know this is from 2 years ago, but if you want to update it you should definitely check out Trader Joe's Meatless Breakfast Patties -- they're definitely one of my favorite breakfasts! And thanks for what you do!
"WHY YALL GOT A FORK" i'm dead you guys😅 definitely made my night better
I cooked my morning star longer I normally broil a little on one or both sides to get the texture better. Might help! But I didn't like the texture at first.
ok so we aren't super crazy lol
@@MakeItDairyFree No not at all. The kids really love it because of the soft chewy texture so I make there's like the package recommends but I normally broil mine might help but I know you might not buy it again. But maybe a good video going back trying brands you didn't like but cooking them another way idk just a thought since you ask for ideas.
I need to try the impossible sausage . The beyond spicy pattys are my current favorite but I like impossible meat more than beyond so I’m curious .
Let us know what you think
What's the difference between breakfast sausage and ordinary sausage, apart from the shape? I've not been aware of the sausage patty things here in the UK. There's a Moving Mountain brand that does a sausage burger type thing but I've not had the desire to try it.
usually breakfast sausage has things like sage and maple syrup added to it
@@MakeItDairyFree Ahh, thank you. Sounds similar to Lincolnshire sausages without the maple syrup.
I love OZO brand breakfast sausage, the one with a hint of spice.
Haven't seen that brand
Plant tour please!!! Love your videos☮💜🎉💯‼️
Natures fynd is a relatively new one, I like the flavor and that it’s made from fungi protein but the texture is a bit piecey/snappy? Natures fynd makes the best vegan cream cheese I’ve had followed by kitehill.
Question: What do you do with all the food that you don’t like?
We let friends or family try it. Sometimes just because we don't like something someone else will and then it's not super wasteful
Show me some with low soduim!
We try not to focus on nutritional labels as that's subjective to each person :)
I've never seen vegan morningstar sausage patties. They're always vegetarian with egg and milk at my local stores. I looked it up and couldn't find a vegan one. Am I missing something??
