I love bass covers where you can actually her the bass being played.

By far the most accurate covers on TH-cam. Commenting on a random video but they are all spot on. Well done.

Dude, that tone is magic. Can’t even tell it’s not the original. Good work. 🤘

Sounds like you have Eddie’s tone down. What are you playing through? This is one of my favorite songs that I meant to learn but never got around to it until I sat and played along with your video. Nice job!

I’m glad I could help you! When I recorded this I just put my bass into an old DI and then to the console and into the computer. The secret to get Eddie’s sound is to raise the low mid and cut of the low bass frequencies. You want that punchy sound that the low mid gives.

Track quite respectful of the original Eddie Jackson’s (down to the Spector Ns itself) and… love the picture of the cavalier King Charles spaniel three color on the wall

@@claudiovallese40 Thanks! The Spector helped to get a tune more like Eddie’s. The dog is actually an American Cocker Spaniel. His name was Brutus.

You definitely got that monster tone right on. Is that a euro or NS-2? Hard to tell, but it looks like a euro. The tone pump in the euros was always a tricky one for me, because I think by the schematic, its the same as the old HAZLAB circuit that took up the whole cavity, but there's something different about it, and it doesn't seem to get it just right, but you have here. Good work. Something to help others do what you're doing, maybe list what gear you're using. It sounds like a BEAST, and that earns bragging rights, for sure.

My Spector is a Euro. I just tried it and liked it and it works great for me. I'm not using that much gear and most of it is really old. I always always use an old DI-box. That DI must be 30 years old now. The DI goes into Logic. For the most part I don't use compressors or other effects. Just some EQ and I think that's the key to Eddie's sound. To raise the low mid and cut off the really low frequencies. Thank you for the nice comment. So glad you like it.

@@kristoffer-helle I also use old gear. 25-30+. Reason is, if you want to have the tone from that period, you need the gear that was used then.
I use a 95 Ampeg V-4BH, a 100 watt all tube version of the SVT classic. Has the same 5 position midrange tone selector. I also use all spector basses. My No 1 is an NS-4CRFM, one of the early euros with the EMG BTC circuit and dot inlays. I recently converted the old preamp over to the Korean HAZLAB clone they put in the NS-2A basses. Seems to capture the classic growl even better than the BTC, although I think the schematic may look identical to the HAZ, like the tone pump. I also use an ART SGX Nightbass, because the equip board showed that Mike Starr used one when AIC recorded "Would?", so I figured it was necessary. That thing was made in 94, so the old gear is the answer to the classic tone, and ebay is your friend for that.
      Again, good work bud.

@@ExtremelyAverage1 The Spector is not my main bass but a great addition to my other basses. I'm very satisfied with it and it serves me great for a more modern tone. I don't do so much work with the instruments anymore, like you seem to do. Did that in the 90's and ruined a lot of instruments back then ...For many years I mostly played Music Man but now I mostly play Yamaha and the old TRB series with the P/J pickups with piezo. My main amp is an early 70's Sunn, like John Entwistle used. I really like the Sunn 610L.

Thank you! I'm not big fan of them so I'd be difficult getting into the groove and Flea's style is very different from mine so I'm afraid I'd make a fool out of myself doing it. Sorry.
