Obviously joint family is best bro..... Still v live so nly 25 members are there in our family. We do have loads of misunderstanding... But v support each other in everything. In my home loads of gen z kids are there, v see loads of kids not respecting elders , BCS of joint family all the gen z kids have the same mentality as 80s nd still respect others and as you said we are not selfish. When I got married my mamas actually fought who I'll do more for me. I'm really blessed being here

Some in-laws are very toxic. Don’t generalize, it depends on people, finance and everything. I believe with the attitude of your father it won’t set for your wife logu. Living with parents is beneficial not with in-laws. Your wife can’t live one day with your parents.
All good.. but what made you not live with your own parents as a joint family? Likewise, why are your wife's parents not living as a joint family with their son? Don't mistake.. ultimately everything boils down to who can adjust with whom, right?

Joint family will work only if wavelength matches. It worked for you, so no issues. But that will not be case for most people. Generational gap will be a major issue and cause a lot of problems. There is nothing wrong in living as atomic families or as joint family, just choose what is suitable for you.

Then We also gone through same situation during covid and somehow managed with all struggles and also built own house and 2nd baby as well. But Then back to bangalore now for job.
