  • 'The Temptations’ LAST Surviving Member Reveals DISTURBING Details About the Group.
The Temptations' legacy, as seen through his eyes, is a statement of enduring impact, a story that continues to resonate with fans and artists alike. But it wasn’t easy for the group to become the legend that they became. and Otis even reminisce about the time where their audience was divided by a mere piece of rope. The Temptations began their ascent to stardom at a time when music was more than mere entertainment; it was a voice for the voiceless, a beacon of hope in turbulent times.

He did not keep the group together he separated the group because he wanted it to be Otis Williams and the temptation if you know your history he wanted it to be Otis Williams and the distance because he claims he found the group and I sit down and I talked with Dennis Edwards we at breakfast he told me and I repeat he did not want to leave the temptation nor did David but it was hard to work with Otis because he has such a jealous Spirit I'm talking when I got from the horse's mouth I'm not making this up I tell Otis in front of his face take him to the place where Dennis and I had had breakfast as a matter of fact I got a picture of me and Dennis sitting in my Maserati going to breakfast to eat

Well Melvin, and Paul weren't well. Melvin had Reumatoid Arthritis and ended up getting diabetes because of the cortisone injections he was getting. And Paul had Sickle Cell Anemia. And back then there was no treatment, so he drank to ease the pain he was dealing with. He wasn't really a drinker and the strongest thing he drank was milk before dealing with so much pain. And well David was a drug addict sad to say, and Eddie dabbled in Coke because of David offering it to him. But, don't know if he kept doing it. I believe cancer took him. And as for Otis he never got into to those things and neither did Melvin "Blue" sad 😥 he pushed through a lot of pain to be with the others at their concerts and performances and getting all the cortisone injections to help with his mobility was a big issue. Because you can't live your life getting all those injections of cortisone. I have had those and I won't take them anymore. They cause other problems and diabetes is one of those problems. It's really sad 😢😢😢😢😢

@kingyah4611: That phrase was placed there for great effect, or shock value. The director wanted to display the personality of David Ruffin. However, don't let that phrase fool you. Those like yourself, not born in the era, only focus on a movie. Otis Williams was, like Berry Gordy, a visionary. He, like Berry, had an ear for talent. Otis' group, "The Distants," he knew, needed something else to take the next step. The Distants merged with The Primes (Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams). The rest is history. If not for Otis, there would be no "Temptations." And, don't think Otis cannot sing. He can. Look up "Don't Send Me Away" (1967) by The Temptations, and "I Ain't Got Nothin'" (1972) by The Temptations.

I can’t begin to tell you how sick and tired I am of hearing this AI voice on the voiceover. It is ubiquitous. You’d think that producers of a documentary about soul music would want their script to be read by a real human being, you know, someone with an actual soul, not by soulless artificial intelligence software. Very disappointing.

This ain't nothin but a recap of what I already heard from the early 2000's basically a summary of 3 documentaries and the movie. I thought this was going to be him telling a deep dark secret that nobody on this earth heard before. Or a secret that would have helped new comers to the business, or info that would put together unfinished business like his fellow members death that are questioned to be mysteries. No offense but a waste of my time.

Of course their breakthrough came with the release of their first hit singles. That begs the question, would their breakthrough had come with the release of failed singles? Nothin but a word salad. I know it sounds smart, but this report is full of empty phrases and fillers.
They were a part of the Motown machine. The songs they sang were written by songwriters. They were given dance lessons and their dances were choreographed by the Motown machine. They were taught how to speak to the press. They were coached how to behave in public. And if and when they did anything wrong, word would get back to Motown and Barry.
They are also one of my all time favorite groups. I love them, but this report lacks specifics and is filled with generic poetic phrases that can be applied to almost any successful performer or group. What a waste of time.

You must be a millennial because everything you said is and has been well documented since the late 1980's. In fact, a made for TV miniseries hit the airwaves in 1998, it was produced by Otis Williams and former Temps manager Shelly Berger. It was based off Otis' book that came out ten years earlier. In short; all this information is "new" to you, but isn't fresh news to the rest of civilization. I thought I had to actually take time out of my day to pay attention because of breaking news. Instead it was just another presentation of the same old information.
"Disturbing" indeed, yes it is and their stories resembles lots of bio pics in the history of rock and roll and there are many stories that have been told. The mini series has Leon playing Ruffin and his plays it brilliantly! However, Michael Wright also does a terrific job in "The Five Heartbeats"; which was a somewhat "loose" portrayal of a few groups including The Temptations, Four Tops, Dells, and a few others. Let me tell you something, it may be a loose and/or partially fictional portrayal; but you KNEW Michael Wright was playing David Ruffin. His character's background was dangerous, while all the other members of the Five Heartbeats were mama's boys, which holds true to the Temp's backstory as you well know.
Other than that, the slides are great, your voice, wording and delivery are all fantastic. No qualms on the quality, all first rate attributes! I do not want to sound discouraging in any way because you are a creative force and should always feel the power of this artistic forum. I do not have any videos nor productions that even come close to what you are doing. I'm a radio guy and do not possess the video skills. However, I've hosted "The Motown Lunch" on WJZP since 2016 and also do another show called "The Monday Night Mini Concert Series". Unfortunately, the only live Temptations material I've been able to get my paws on is "The Temptations Live" from 1965, which lacks the quality and technological strength that would facilitate the historic live recordings we have all come to know and love. That's another conversation though. Also found a live performance from 1984 and a bootleg quality disc of the "Kendricks Ruffin Edwards" trio live in Vegas from 1991.

How could Otis be jealous of a group he put together? A lot of what happened in the movie were made up. Read The Temptations by Otis Williams. You will see no jealousy. He explains why things were different in the movie. Nice pictures in the book. 😊

It's unfortunate but the seeking of fortune and fame and to be seen and known at any and all. Cost my my the things people will say and do for recognition is astonishing and unfortunate we have lost far to many great people whom lost their great lives when caught up in the SEEKING at any cost trap.
