The Rise of KidSuper

- KidSuper is one the hottest things in fashion. Just recently, the brand’s founder Colm Dillane was brought on as guest creative director for Louis Vuitton’s FW 2023 collection, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. In this episode, we’ll explore the crazy story of how Colm got to this point, including his early days selling t-shirts in New York, his brief stint as a pro soccer player, starting a business in his college dorm, his first breakthrough dressing Mac Miller, and his numerous attempts to get onto the official fashion week calendar. This is personally one of my favorite stories that I’ve covered so far - and I hope you’ll enjoy it too. This is the rise of KidSuper.

Would you do a hysteric glamour history video? There’s no video presence explaining where they came from or explaining the brand but I think they’re part of like the 1st wave of Japanese streetwear that doesn’t get talked about
Yesss

As a HANDPAINTER on garments …. He definitely is super inspirational
I see what you did there
One day I’m gonna be on threaducation. I’m moving to nyc next week. No formal training but I think I have a shot. I don’t care how long it takes I’m gonna make it. Hopefully I’ll get to shake hands with Kidsuper someday. 🔆

KidSuper reminds me of someone I know & I know that if that person sticks the course, the outcome will be the same. He is amazing.
Kidsuper’s store is one the same block as Mishka’s former flagship store.
Ngl not a fan of maximalism but he seems down to earth and chill asf, would love to meet & congratulate him one day. His story is pretty inspirational
Love KidSuper
Gots to see a history on Marc Jacobs pleaseee mr threaducation🙏🙏🙏
Happy fashion
So much resilience and positivity! I wonder why he even bothered to try Paris though. Paris is not typically the place for streetwear. He could of tried London instead.
You should do a video on Blazzy
this here is a story
BEAST COAST

Fierce
u gotta do clint419 of corteiz
Its crazy how he said "williamsburg was the center of streetwear" when HandM and all kinds of cheese sends photographers out into areas like this to do research for their own work. Most people would say williamsburg was dead in like 2001.
That was pretty super kid
Yay
Lanvin video next😊
still waiting for cortiez and heron preston
I need one video of clint419 the owner of crtz
finally has his own vid 👏
Do lanvin
While this story is inspirational, There is a bit of frustration I feel. As someone who studied fashion , seeing how people who have no formal training take these positions makes me question what it is exactly these fashion Schools are preparing their students for. What's the point of studying fashion when , to land a job, you need to do an unpaid internship(s) and then end up working in brands directed by people who had no formal training?? That is a bit of a slap in the face....
After studying, I don't even bother to apply for jobs in the industry anymore. I'm now using my knowledge and skills for freelancing and running a business, with a job from another industry to back me up financially.
I see what you’re saying and understand your frustration. On the flip side, if your pieces resonate with the masses - no matter what your background or experiences look like - you can’t really hate on the designer. 🤷🏾♂️ I don’t believe formal training matters if your art interprets and demonstrates emotions effectively to communicate the art work.
@@dantewill77 I'm not angry at the designer. I'm more frustrated at the industry. I'm frustrated with how the industry does not support fashion schools, and how fashion schools don't properly prepare students for the fashion industry. I now realize that there is a disconnect between schools and the industry. It's a waste of time and money for students to go , if all they needed in the first place was knowledge on how to run a business. I should have just taken some short courses, read some books, and practiced sewing, pattern cutting and technical drawing at home, instead of borrowing student loans. This is one thing I regret after studying fashion.
@@Diana-st8bq I totally understand that. The industry, no matter the venture, always moves bizarrely.
No press? He was in vogue after that Paris show
KidSuper is the MrBeast of fashion
I follow comedians , and that lineup was not a lineup many people are checking for .
Пора ставить банки!
why would u want mentorship from lvmh LOLL
why would u not lol
Can we get a Sean Stussy episode
i dont get the KS hype
Persistance
For me,
It's sumn fresh and pretty nice to see.
Playful designs that don't feel like "it's too much".
You know you're a zoomer when you become famous from mediocrity
