Having lived in Sitka Alaska from 2011 to 2018 I see a lot of changes that have been made but your video moves rather swiftly through a lot of areas downtown in the surrounding area where I cannot see clearly maybe you should slow your camera or whatever device you’re using, to be a little more thorough. But it was nice to see Sitka again. I got a bit home sick. 😌💝. Thank you
Did you stay for the winter? How is the winter in Sitka? I plan on having solar panels for energy in sitka and I want to know if there’s still sunlight during winter
@@realtruth1448 I lived in Anchorage for the Winter... But I have friends in Sitka and also did a lot of research on Sitka for my tours... The shortest days in Sitka average a little over 6 hours in the Winter. It rains alot in the Summer but in the Winter it is typically a bit drier with less snow than most places in Alaska... This past year, 2019 they had a little more snow than usual... It's foggy and windy sometimes in the Summer but it is part of the Tongass National rainforest so that's expected.... It is very beautiful... There's only about 14 miles of road on the island so if you tend to like long distance road trips Sitka may not be the place for you. On the other hand if you enjoy hiking there are lots of awesome trails... Kayaking is popular there in the Summer.. I'm not sure what Winter activities are popular... The average temperature in the Winter is mostly above freezing... Around 35 degrees.. if I were you I would probably have a backup gas generator just in case you have several days of cloudy, rainy days in a row, which is very possible.... I have several videos on my channel if you would like to check them out.... I have one exclusively of Sitka.... I'd love to know if you go, and if you enjoy it there... I'm sure you probably will..... Good luck to you if you go... I want to go back and stay for the Winter someday too... I know it would be very beautiful, as it is in the Summer...
RockMellyMel I actually plan on moving there, but to keep it for sure I’m going to scout the place out for a week or two during the fall season, I heard the weather there is basically a cold tropical rainforest, but still warmer and more reasonable climate than the rest of Alaska, only concern I was having is if during the winter I wouldn’t get enough sunlight for my solar panels I plan on building but I’ll also have wind turbines, so since there will just be cloudy days the solar panels will still pull energy and combo with wind turbines I think I’ll survive
What a beautiful place. Truly incredible.
Beautiful
