Unity just went to f tier
Seriously... I'm on the first day of migrating my game that took 3 years to make from Unity to Godot...
The y axis fucking points downwards and "Rotated" rotates counterclockwise... 💀
good unity is garbage good luck on your game@@triplezgames3882

I tried with Visual Studio, .NET and even set up a framework. For starters, It wasnt worth it. Might try again in future when more knowledged or funded.

This needs an update to throw Unity down to F tier
Update coming soon 👀
Why? Did Unity do something recently?
@@leepicbaconman1553 yes, they implemented a scammy charging system that will charge devs per instalation of any game they made, regardless of how it was obtained (so free xbox pass games are charged) and if you uninstall and reinstall the game, they're charged again;
Nit to mention that they'll most likely be charged for pirated installations too
@@leepicbaconman1553they screwed everyone over
yes they made it so if your game is popular (like 100 players or something) then for EVERY DOWNLOAD you have to pay a fine and some other major changes@@leepicbaconman1553
Remove Unity from that list.

Coming from experience, and a very very high amount of regret, use one that doesn't require a login or authentication, and doesn't lock you into the Microsoft ecosystem (Visual Studio). In other words, use one that's small, compatible with Linux, and unpopular opinion here...don't make a fully 3D game. This way, the equipment you need costs less (won't require an insano GPU), so you can focus more on having a clean setup and organization. Also, make a game that doesn't take more than 1 year to make, so if like me you're into making narrative fiction, make a 2D visual novel or a 2D tile based RPG. If you don't like tiles, use backgrounds, pre-rendered 3d cg backgrounds, just unless you're AA or have a lot of funding, don't touch 3D. it's way more than just an extra 'D'.
If you require a login to access your own project files, such as with Unity and Unreal engine, think about that for a moment. If you put 5 years into your dream project, how would it feel to have that work potentially at the hands of those giant corporations that really don't care about you or your work. What if Microsoft starts implementing a social credit score and a digital id and decides that you're racist or a biggot? This may not seem possible now, but you're gonna want to have access to all of your files 10, maybe even 20 years down the line. This is your work, you might anticipate wanting to preserve it.
So in this way, right now, I believe that Godot is the best engine available. I hope that doesn't change, but being open source, no need to use Windows, and the fact that Microsoft now has middleware to port to the Xbox, as well as the ability to port to other consoles being open-source (wouldn't recommend it though, and everyone has Steam anyway at this point), it's just the best one that exists.
I would highly recommend against using Unity3D due to it's cacheing system, and highly recommend against using Unreal due to it being like 40GB at it's minimum to download and being incredibly resource intensive.
If you want a job in the industry in the future, maybe use them then for the learning experience, but if you want to make games in an elegant manner, at this point use Godot. There are plenty of other engines out there though as well, just again, make sure you don't lock yourself into authentication madness to access the physical data that should exist in your own room (not the cloud) that you should have complete ownership of with no logins.
@@astrahcat1212you're totally correct. I always worry when I use "big companies" tools because they're greedy and you're at their mercy
man, developers dont like 3D because most people who start developing games use 3D and think they will make the new Call of DUty. Actually 3D can be as easy as 2D, cost the same and be as light when running. You just need to decrease the scope of the project and find a style other than hyper realistic graphics
Unity is now in position F
yes bro. i started learning unity few weeks ago and recently finished my first game but after seeing licensing policy guess I'll just switch to godot or unreal
@@yabaiotaku hows cryengine
@@StrawdexGuyfor me, due to UE's version 5.3 update, I choose this engine for my 3D project (and Godot for 2D). It's up to you which game engine specializes for you

🤯🤯🤯
Oh shi that’s true!!
Must be a bug
How tf did u find that out
Y’all why you do RPG Maker like that, it’s made some damn good games, albeit limited for training or small games it can be pretty damn good (unless your a madlad and decide to pull an Omori or TCOA&L)
rpg maker mv aint bad chill dawg its limited BUT ITS SO GOOD. AND ITS SO EASY FOR BEGINNERS, MY MOST RECOMMENDED ENGINE FOR BEGINNERS
It's also not the most limited* or limited for most people. But if you really wanna say stuff and barely use the engine yourself- god, just god.

L take
S: Godot, Gamemaker
A. Unreal engine
B. Construct
C. RPG Maker
D. Other
F. Unity
Unreal Engine is S for 3D but bad for 2D so I use Unreal and Godot
@@mevy579 Unreal Engine 5 takes up +100 GB of space, and C++ is a rather complex programming language, so UE5 is not S.
Thats the true list
uhh dude most of the new AAA games are made on unreal, and there are quite alot of good games made on unreal too... @@poleve5409

As of today, it's not the difficulty anymore, you can see how much shit Unity is in now. Unity should be at the bottom of your list.
I honestly agree with you
It shouldn't even be on the list .
There's no good choice, but there's a bad one: Unity
Gdevelop: Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to... ME! the best beginner engine!

I use Construct 3. I got it all figured out 90% ..feels so good to learn how to make video games now
So guys what would you recommend more Construct 3 or GDevelop? I used Construct 3 a lot last year but since it costs 24 bucks per month or 120 per year I thought to switch maybe to GDevelop. What do you think?
@@MrDitanoGDevelop. I can show u some things I’m making/made using it if you want. And also look up “bullet bunny” it’s a game made in gdevelop

True
For real, solid advice. Hone in on what idea you wanna execute, then learn all the fundamentals of the engine, then plug in what you know to your idea. Google the rest lol
Unity doesn’t work cuz it has a poppup of what to open the script I’m and doesn’t work does anyone know how to fix so I can use it?

you need visual studio

Scratch: i always get a free ticket to above S tier
1 of the 3 in S tier shouldn't be their.
I love that construct is an A tier. I used it for a project in AP Human Geography my freshman year of highschool. Blew the teacher away (she thought it was something really quite difficult) so I got double the grade I should have according to the rubric.
Html 5 and PowerPoint are God-tier
rise and shine mr freeman, rise and shine.

? I'm human. I just woke up when I recorded this lol
GameMaker 2 is great for beginners, you should definitely start on that
Game Maker should be on S tier, in there there were made absolute jewels such as Pizza Tower...
If you have the patience and the passion, starting with the high level ones is fine.
I think Game Maker made a brilliant move just now making it free for non profit use. Think I'll move from Construct 3 now.
Copper cube in my opinion is definitely s tier
You forgot scratch in s tier
I’ve heard about some shady practices at Godot’s development, idk about S tier anymore
Aint no way Blud didn’t put source in s tier
Unity then swite to unreal wait did this kid put godot at s yooo helllllll nah
People cry about Unity like they make 200k a year, LOL
Unreal is hidin in the shadows here xd
Bro c++
When i Finish my game I'm going to try another game engines
Im using Turbowarp engine... it suits my needs... and is more close to axual programming on traditional programming mechanics then node programming
Ngl game maker 2 is the only game engine that is easy for beginners and good at the same time
nice short
thx
The perfect game engine for beginners is definitely Gdevelop in my opinion. I'm saying this because I've used it with no experience in coding yet I made a full platformer game in 7 days. Please read this comment for anyone that wants to start making games :)
With tutorials?
Nvm
It’s complicated 😢
@@JumboarentjoshYeah i struggle too to FUCKING make a Instance and i dont even know how to make a 2d game when make instance is not easy like GMS2 or Unity

chill guys the terms have been revised. It only applies to Unity 2014 LTS and after. But lost trust is lost. Whatever it maybe, Unity is still one of the greatest for beginners.
i love godot
Which Engine is better Construct 3 or GDevelop?
Why is torque so low down? Just because of its archaic tools and interface?
Probably construct the easiest for non programmers and java script easy to get into
But I’m most familiar with unity, Godot, unreal and game maker
I gotchu bro
Is that torque in d tier?

Take out the unity from the S tier.
Where should be defold?
Good advice 👍
Honestly... I'll just use the one that uses a lot of resources for cheap
As humans, we find distractions. For example I'm very distracted by the presence of Fox Engine. How are you supposed to make your game in that?
Roblox be like: Easy to learn, but hard to earn.
Unity have to be F tier how shady they are
Gameguru max entered the chat🗿
Roblox studio left the chat
roblox lua is actually quite easy
@@desirfamily3589scratch is by far the worst tbh
@@Burritosaremyfavoritefood scratch is better suited for learning, still people have made incredible projects with it
I tried Roblox studio but it just feels limited in a way that is a bit restrictive to certain types of games. Some types of games are incredibly easy to make some are practically impossible. Super easy multiplayer tho.
@@Cipxvr its a unique game engine for sure
What about the good old source engine?
To the point
When should I go from scratch to unity?
You should actually go to unreal, unreal has the blocks but there are way more AND it has 3D with multiple templates to start off with, AND they are empty enough so it isn’t like a whole game! (idk if Unity has all this stuff) Unity is free until 100k bucks, unreal is free until 1m bucks (I’m pretty sure)
@@StickyCerealStudios if it gives you any idea want to make 2d games
@@GeckoTech_Engineer ye I just remembered unity is much better for 2d games, and thats all scratch is, you know what. I'm gonna try unity today!
@@GeckoTech_EngineerGodot is better than unity and unreal when it comes to 2D games. GDScript is an easy language to learn and even without tutorials, you can right click nodes for easy access on documentation.
@@GeckoTech_Engineerif u have a bad pc dont use unreal
Where is GDevelop 5 ?!
Why not game maker in s tier?
you forgot CopperCube 6 and GDevelop
If you want to use unity, use it. Ignore others it’s still an amazing engine and if you aren’t making hundreds of thousands of dollars casually then you’ll never be affected by anything.
What about scratch?
Am I the only one using monogame in 2023?
tbh you should just make your own, its not even difficult and you learn a lot about graphics programming
Execution on what, my struggle is thinking of a concept to create. Im terrible at creativity but love buidling and problem solving
hell nah not the cration engine 💀💀
I prefere the code of godot, the graphics of unreal and layout of unity. That would be a perfect game engine.
To be honest I would say godot is better for getting people to stay since unity be charging 20 cents per download like heck no that would put of most begginers
I think game maker studio 2 is tier A, becose for 2D games is so good, but, doesnt have 3D game
Unity and game maker studio 2 and godot is for undertale fangames
can u tell me what rank of ursina is ???
I'll just use game maker, seems simple enough, ones your finnish scripting and making sprites and everything, it'll end up like mario maker, now that i think about it, mario maker is just a limited engine made by nintendo
What about source?
What about Source 1&2 engines?
clickteam has no right being in a tier lmao.
First touch is godot
But first game project is monogame😊
whats with GDevelop?
i use roblox studio, and i would probably say that it goes into b or c tier. its sorta easy to use (only once you learn it) and lua is pretty stupid. it does allow you to make great games though (the opposite of 99% of roblox games)
