This song sent me down a rabbit hole, their drummer is criminally underrated. They're all super talented musicians but when you isolate the drums in this song you realize he's on another level.
I used to see this band all the time growing up in new york. I remember people would shout "dont play popular!" Popular dropped when i was going on 13 and in 7th grade. By the time i was 16 proximity effect had dropped and i was still a huge fan, and could actually see the band in clubs and talk to them. It was just such a rad time for music in nyc at the time.
prowler 907 I ve been a long time fan as well. Just saw the band playing a couple of weeks ago in South of France. At the end of the gig, Daniel joined us at the bar and paid a beer to us all, while Matthew was chatting, dedicating merch and thanking fans for coming. Beyond being an amazing band and highly talented guys, they're extraordinary human beings.
They'll still come out and talk too. I met Matthew for the first time a few years ago after a show, and he took selfies and signed while talking to everyone. Even got to show him the ticket stub from my very first concert ever (which happened to be this very band, haha).
Criminellement sous-estimés. Des mélodistes hors pair, des compos qui respirent l'espoir sous la mélancolie. Des artisans qui retravaillent la matière album après album, chanson après chanson. Grand groupe!
I remember listening to Popular in ‘96 on the radio and catching it on MTV during the TRL block almost everyday after school-Totally rad song. EVERYONE loved it!!! Now I’m older and love Nada Surf even more. Their music is for lost souls, heck, all souls, teaching us how to navigate through this crazy world. Love their old stuff but their stuff from Let Go onwards is so mature. Deep. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I pray they venture here to play. If not I’ll spearhead the concert myself. Anyone who knows Mr. Matthew Caaws can tell him. God bless this band. They’ve helped keep me from literally choosing to crash my life like the Titanic!!!
Nada Surf where have you been all my life?! Fucking brilliant band. I'm from UK and no one has heard of them. I don't know why they don't 'travel'. Though I like being into bands other folk haven't heard of.
I grew up listening to this..Very visual..I always pictured myself singing this..Have the same voice as the singer..i sing this to my students as a gift to them.
Do you ever feel like you just landed On this earth? See the creatures all do their dances Back and forth You get restless and then you join them On the floor Suddenly it's tomorrow It's not today anymore You talk to the ceiling every day The speakers are shaking Why do i hear you okay? They're playing soul at the wrong speed It sounds right now What are you doing to me? D'you ever feel like what we call real life Is not so real? Tripping up on the same old problems You had last year Well we'll pretend it's another planet Not so uptight The stars are shining above the city Every night They come every night [chorus] Where are we going? I don't care Our friends all left Let's go anywhere It's getting late I don't care It's just you and me Let's go anywhere
Shout out if you're still listening in 2024.
Hi-Speed Soul is balm for creative, intelligent, and existential souls marred by love, and journeying across unfamiliar lands. Brilliant work!!

The singer is bonkers too

Rien à rajouter parfaitement résumé
How gratifying to see the band posting the videos clip. In fact, this is one of the songs that I think most fantastic of the band.
Underrated band! Absolutely!
Who would give this a thumbs down? Seriously.
Because they have no appreciation of good music?
I heard they were having a stroke during this song
People who don't like muted, copyright-struck videos mid-playlist.
Let Go is the first their album I bought and I've been into them since then.
I've seen these guys multiple times. I've met them. I've listened to their records. ... But it just dawned on me. They are the essence of 'cool.'
anyone else think about skateboarding in Boulder, Colorado from hearing this?
Hahaha that’s why I’m here too
@@chvrliebrowwn I can still visualize Alex Chalmers ollieing out of the bowl and over the fence

See you in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Do you ever feel like you just landed
On this earth?
See the creatures all do their dances
Back and forth
You get restless and then you join them
On the floor
Suddenly it's tomorrow
It's not today anymore
You talk to the ceiling every day
The speakers are shaking
Why do i hear you okay?
They're playing soul at the wrong speed
It sounds right now
What are you doing to me?
D'you ever feel like what we call real life
Is not so real?
Tripping up on the same old problems
You had last year
Well we'll pretend it's another planet
Not so uptight
The stars are shining above the city
Every night
They come every night
[chorus]
Where are we going?
I don't care
Our friends all left
Let's go anywhere
It's getting late
I don't care
It's just you and me
Let's go anywhere
ATV Offroad Fury 3 days...
Fun fact: listen to this song 3/4 speed on here and it is regular speed soul
The singer looks like the singer of Moody Blues
Wow, what a good rock music. This group sounds like Molotov USK, the ones who sing a song about Che Guevara
OK NICE THEN!
yeah not so real. great song
New Order vibes.
I swear there are moments Caws looks like a young John Lennon.
Gotta be the hair.
better than that shite 'popular' song
